I do have one piece of constructive criticism, if you don't mind. I was noticing you had a tendancy at times, to echo back what the interviewee was saying in order to draw out a further response or maybe to make sure you understood what they were saying. While there are certain times that this is a good technique in a normal conversation or even in an interview, in a "show interview" it is generally better to stay silent until the interviewee is done speaking, and then to move on unless there is a vital clarification that needs to be made. It is sometimes difficult to find the balance between remaining silent and chiming in when it seems like the interviewee is done speaking to keep up the pace of the interview, but echoing at the wrong time can sometimes derail the pace even worse. I think as you get more practice these will turn out really well. You might want to practice on your brother or parents or friends to get more relaxed with your technique and pacing. Keep it up! | ||
