Okay so on Friday I sold my old pc so I can use the money to put it towards buying a new pc. So I was doing my normal bargain hunting and came across an add on cragislist that was very interesting. It said that this person had a PC for sale for $250 and I was interested in the specs so I E-mailed the person. About 2 hours later I get an email back saying that the pc had:
4 GB of RAM AMD Phenom II x4 965 a 1 GB video card and a 500 GB HDD
After reading this and Checking the price again to make sure it wasnt a mistake, I was stoked. So i go out and meet the person on Saturday to pick up the PC. She was very nice and really upbeat so I was confident that it was legit and didnt even bother to check out the PC. I get home, Plug it up and check the specs....
So now im heated. Not only are there 3 GB of RAM missing, but there is no video card (on IGP right now), and no Phenom II (only an Athlon II x2 255.). But wait, here is the worst part. So after trying to contact her for a day and letting her know that the PC was missing several things that she said were there, she e-mails me back and apologizes and says that she will meet me on Tuesday (Today) at around 5 to pick up the 4 GB of RAM. She said the reason the ram wasnt there was because she thought she had already put it in as it was her mothers pc. So I was like... okay thats fine...
Now here is the troll part.
I didnt have enough gas to go meet her in my car so my mom offered to go by and meet her since the place that we were supposed to meet at was a place that my mom passes by on her way home anyway from work. So my mom meets her at 5, gives her the RAM, and then my mom calls me to let me know that she got it. At this point im like "YESSSSSSSSS! I CAN FINALLY DO MORE THAN 1 THING AT A TIME!"
(Try playing LoL on 1 GB of ram... im an sc2 player but I had no choice but to play LoL as it was the only thing that would run besides D2 and BW)
SOOO, my mom gets home... I go downstairs to say hello, and then she hands me the RAM. I run upstairs happy as fuck and I had already opened up the PC and everything so I can just pop the RAM in a keep it moving... but then I took a good look at the ram packaging... here's how it went..
so now im stuck with nothing until I can sell this ram ((

That image is broken
and report that person.

Damn. Can you still report someone in a situation like this? I'm assuming you didn't get a receipt and it'll be your word against hers, yeah?

My comp. is only not even 1 GB of ram woop.
|
but wait, did you got the phenom x4 and the vcard or only the ram?
|
I would chase her for the CPU to be honest. RAM cost fuck all to buy.

I'd demand a full refund. She completely lied about she was selling you lol... Hopefully you know her number or where she lives or something.
I mean what the hell, if what you say is accurate then:
1) You should ask for help when buying a computer because saying "a 1GB video card" means very little 2) You should have a backbone and be ridiculously pissed because what you got was not remotely close to what was advertised.

So you bought a computer and didnt even think to look inside to make sure it has a graphics card or check the ram before you handed over the money? You have to be super careful on craigslist. Your lucky you didnt get a case with a brick taped to the inside.

I know plenty about computers. Hell, I used to half own a computer shop that repaired desktops, laptops, and video game systems (and I was only 16). I was just lazy and saw this as a crazy deal. i mean im not too pissed because the mobo in this pc is pretty bad ass and ddr3 ram is dirt cheap. All I was going to do was sell the 4 GB of ddr2 ram she gave me and buy the ddr3 ram with that. and then whatever is left over will be put with whatever i get from the athlon II and put towards a Phenom II. Im trading one of my older lcd monitors for a 5770 so im also not really worried about the video card either.
It was all just disappointing that it wasnt as advertised. I'll live though. Next time im just going to be a bit more careful and pay more attention to what I buy and who I buy it from.

this is not a good approach to have when you're buying stuff from people on craigslist

What do you mean it wasn't as advertised? Of course it wasn't. She scammed you. I'd threaten her with a civil suit until you get your money back.
