If you have no other option and just want to make a margarita then go for it, its not AWFUL, but there are many much better tequilas out there for less or equal $$$. I recomend Eli Jimador or Cazadores as a better place to start that Cuervo. As I said, it's seems to be rather tricky to get those here, eventhough wikipedia wants to tell me that Germany is the 3rd biggest Tequila market worldwide... But I'm not much of a Tequila guy anyway, personally I prefer Whiskey... Some friends just had the fucked up idea to go all "cinco de mayo" this weekend. So I wanted to pick up something that's at least better than a bottle of Tequila with a freaking sombrero as cap.

In sweden, we had a long tradition of only having shitty mixtos available, (mixto is 51% agave and the rest chepest neutral alcohol you can find). But times are changing and you can get some pretty good stuff nowadays! Imo, Reposados offer more taste and agave then the anejos, who seem to go too far towards other oakmatured brandy. Ofcourse, it depends on the situation as always. But generally speaking.

But there's a lot of marketing behind it so you get a really nice bottle and can sing along "patron on the rocks and I'm ready for some shots" which is priceless imo :p

Cheap tequila in particular is infamous for making people sick and causing major hangovers. Because the flavor is so unique and the smell is so strong, it's likely to stay with you for a long time. After a couple bad nights with cheap tequilla, you might not even want to be near it anymore. Please don't say anything that stupid again... Quality of alcohol and hangover has nothing to do with eachother, only alcohol percentage. Not sure you even know what Hangover is, so let me put it simple: In reality there is nothing in the world called hangover, because actually you get dehydrated. on average, if you drink 1 liter of beer(which is ~5 %) 1,3 litres of liquid will come out - as everyone know, when you drink you will pee quite a lot. So there you go, if you knew about what hangover really is, I hope you wouldn't have come up with such a stupid comment.

Surprised no one else mentioned it yet. Blue bottle (reposado) is where its at if you are going to try it out. Great tequila.

It's why you end up with a minor hangover after 2 bottles of great wine compared a killing hangover by drinking the same amount from a carton. Additives, yeast, fermentation process, amount of synthetic components can all make a difference the next morning.

It originated in Carribean, which is practically Latin America, so it make it ok! we need a rum appreciation thread =/

I even tested it myself. I drank a whole bottle of 100% agave tequila and went to bed with only a few sips of water. Pretty much no hangover at all. Alternatively, give me 3 or 4 draft beers and I feel like shit for about 18 hours. I realize thats entirely subjective and is no reason for you to change your opinion; but I experience it for myself on a weekly basis, so I had to change mine.
