Might be off topic, but you worded that pretty oddly lol. Anyways, as mentioned many times, this might hurt the message or movement a little (even if it technically shouldn't affect it at all). Dude, I'm so out of it from cramming for exams haha. It looks I did word it oddly .

I feel sorry for him; he clearly needs some help, and regardless of whether or not this was drug related the news stories have probably done irreparable harm to whatever good could have come from the organization. Serious help. It's one thing if he lost it and dropped a few f-bombs. As far as what he actually did, I don't know how to respond to it except with a "What the fuck?"

This guy seriously gave me the creeps when I was watching the Kony2012 video. I think that's the technical term, right? "The creeps?" Lets just say this story didn't really shock me (though the GIF paints a different picture altogether).
Either way, if he's having a mental breakdown (and not just whacked out on some interesting drug coctail), that's rough. It's time for this guy to drop off the grid for a while. This should stand as a warning: don't get yourself into anything you can't handle. The internet can make you famous, but the backlash will be crushing when they find out you're shady.

I'm just glad people are waking up to the scam as shown by them removing comments on the official YT video.
To be fair I think your forgetting the certain 'special interest' different groups of people may hold here. The people doing Invisible Children want to see the whole issue there stopped and they are willing to get any suport they can. The US government may have their own interest in the region as well and with their guns and the popular support Invisible Children has received, both parties may achieve their own goal working off each other. Thats how the world works, doesn't matter what your doing.

He's ostensibly Christian, but his actions are as far removed from what Christians are supposed to behave like that it's kind of silly imo to refer to him as that. That said I've not lost any friends over this, only acquaintances lol, but it was ridiculous the strength of feeling people had over this when they had no previous knowledge of the region or the history of it! Well I dont want to go into too much detail (I dont want to translate 2pages of facebook argument ect) but it was meant as kind of a joke as I am know amongst all my friend to dislike christians and LRM has "lord" in the clubname so to speak. I guess you can debate what makes someone a christian and if christianity has anything to do with this, prettymuch everyone involved in that conflict are christans and so were the crazy warlords in Liberia and the Kivu regions. Kony actually has random spirits speak to him and is not in contact with god according to himself, but some mai-mai militias in Kivu used straw bound in some weird way to protect themselves from bullets so it dont actually change anything. Every one in war behave bad regardless of religion. Unfortunately I made a kinda internal joke assumed that my friend would get it and maybe she did. But I did it on facebook so all her friends could see it and apparently thats not ok. She assumed her friends would think that she was some kind of nazi being friends with a guy who would write stuff like that. Next time some viral thing like this hits the facebook walls college kids maybe I'll write that the bad guy is a jew or a muslim and being intolerant of religions is not good to be in this day and age. I learned it the hard way but I think I can manage. Sorry for being extremely off topic. Going back on the subject. Has anyone found anything about his previous mental state? I doubt that you can get this out of it by just being overworked x10, some drugs has to be in play here. Plenty of people all over the world have breakdowns similar like this without drugs being a factor. Psychiatric disorders can correlate with drug use but that hardly means that every person who experiences some kind of psychosis does so because they took hard drugs. Considering this guy's position, considering he has been touring and campaigning hardcore for the Kony2012 thing, I really doubt this had anything to do with drugs. The guy probably just ran himself ragged and his brain snapped after a certain point of malnutrition, dehydration, etc. Stress is also a major factor inducing breakdowns like this.
It's really sad the guy has to go through something like this on a world-wide stage. And its also really sad that this could cloud discussion about the real issues that he was fighting for, even if his methods were disputable.

wow what happened to the guy? doesnt seem right

lol. you know the title and op now reads "man behind kony 2012 hospitalized for . . . masturbation in public."

Well I guess it's kinda hard to tell and my personal knowledge is kinda slim on the subject (luckily) and it was before noon on a weekday and that could speak for a sober meltdown I guess.
Or maybe he was just raising awareness about this guy: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733679/
EDIT: And there are also general Rambo and 2x General Bin Laden and I have no idea if they have faced any justice after the whole Liberia thing. Lots and lots of war criminals out there. They used those nicknames so they'd be harder to catch for warcrimes so they were kinda clever like that.

to be fair it doesnt change the fact the was trying to do a good deed. even though it showed that people who hyped it up were just shallow bandwagoners who got caught up in the frenzy and followed like lemmings.
i feel bad for him, like wtf is this.

LOL at all the little kids upset that their armchair warrior movement is a sham and a farce. Wake up kiddies, you all got duped.

i feel bad for him, like wtf is this. His entire organization is sketchy. The guy is more interested in film making then actually helping out the people.

ah really? i dont know much about it his background. what I do know is that kony has been at this since 2003 and i find it ridiculous that people started going crazy over it only now. and it's not like the good kind of crazy, its the attention whore kind of crazy that is just for show.

that same internet bandwagon has jumped on the opposite side of the road since kony 2012's inception, though, hasn't it? public opinion on TL for example is very negative towards IC, with anyone with a positive outlook on their intentions and actions being a blind bandwagoner muppet.
from my ambivalent, conflicted viewpoint it's sad to watch
edit: post right above me for reference, or well, all three users after your post.

LULZ WUT.
No seriously. Kony has been doing it for 25+ years. That's why the whole campaign is and was a joke. It's been going on for decades.
But good to see you know it didn't just happen this year.

this controversial story would be a great way for the government to thwart a campaign in an indirect way. not that i like kony, i think it's bullshit, just throwing this conspiratorial idea out there.

I work for a non-profit which donates to other organizations and those that have a large percentage of administrative costs are always red flags. Some people create non-profits with the goal of making a 'job' for themselves, not helping others.

The whole Kony 2012 things a bit ridiclous anyway imo, btu this is funny

I have no pity for this guy...he manipulated people with the propaganda technique of appealing to emotion and despite good intentions, his actions are ultimately evil.

Yes, it's disgusting the guy did that kinda thing, especially since it kills some of the legitimacy of his work and campaign.
Implying you have some sort of authority, what a tool.
