If Twitch is putting $5,000 towards the tournament as a big grassroots / community thing, which is basically what HSC is, splitting it amongst all the players makes the most sense. It'd be great to know that KawaiiRice can come home with something, after all. The people who don't advance out of the first group stage are done... nothing to do for the rest of the 3 days.. Also, there are some really strong players like HasuObs and Thorzain and Ret who are already out. Might as well have a side tournament for like $3,000 for the Group Stage losers... and then split the remaining $2,000 to the main tournament pot. That would be the best way. Let the 'losers' have more to play for!

3 x 2 x $100 for the 3 best games of the tournament (both winners and losers get the $100) = $600. The remaining $1200 spent on beer/food and HSC5.

Nobody remembers who gave the first 15000$ of the prize pool but now Twitch gets all the fame for the 5000$ :/ Good initiative anyways but a bit wierd. Have you watched the stream? XMG and the other sponsors of HSCIV get a lot of exposure (product demo, ads etc)
