I woke up at 6AM, and had my shower and made a coffee. Jumped on SC2 and sat in the PMS|H2O clan chat channel talking to a few people, while tabbing and looking at stuff on reddit and TL. Then I started doing a little sc2manager.. that's pretty addicting, and before I knew it, it was 7:34.. 35 minutes past when my training schedule was supposed to start. I start up a game with one of my silver buddies and we play 2-3 times. Then my Terran practice partner jumped on when my silver buddy had to go, and we played until 10AM to make up for my late start. We practised the 9/10 minute 3 siege tank timing push for most of the two hours of playing. I can safely say that I can hold it off without too much trouble. Also practised defending 2 rax with Losira's 14 hatch 14 pool style. I'm comfortable with it now, and I prefer it over a 15 hatch.
I tabbed checked z33k for any tournaments to play it, and found the z33k sundaily and the legion weekly open. I signed up to both of them.
My first opponent for the z33k daily was a master Terran on Shakura's. I got utterly dismantled. Dual pronged reapers, drops everywhere, and finally a marine tank push that ended the game. I let the reapers put me on tilt and I feel like that's why I lost. I can handle multi tasking easily and his multi tasking wasn't too good, he lost multiple drop ships to queens when he just shift queued unloads etc. I played pretty poorly. I got my macro hatchery a little too early, and I had 0 minerals and 1k gas at one point with a spire up. It was pretty poor play on my behalf. So that ended my z33k daily trip pretty abruptly and it made me feel like crap afterwards knowing I played so terrible, and a little frustrated. To ease my frustration I went outside and played with my dog for a bit.
After coming back inside, I was just in time for my first opponent for the Legion Weekly. A masters terran to hit off, and what's worse was it was on XNC. I managed to pull out a victory with relentless aggression. My second opponent was a poor plat zerg who fast expanded on Tal'darim. I easily won that with a 14/14. And here is where I got stopped. My third opponent, someone who I've faced before and won every game in, I went in confident knowing I could hold anything off. He started off with a 2 gate which I easily held off because he let me scout it. After that I sent my lings to see what he had. A sentry, and an artosis pylon powering everything at his wall(on antiga shipyard, he walled off at the larger ramp) so I decided to baneling bust it. I take down the pylon but continous forcefields by the now 3 sentries held me off.
That's when I saw the 2 stargates. This guy cheeses me once and then when it fails cheeses me again? I was confused and I knew I had already lost. I didn't make my queen at my natural because I wanted my third faster. I was on one queen and hatch tech with 4 voidrays incoming. I'm pretty disappointed that I lost that with only losing like 2 drones to the 2 gate. Ohh well. You live and learn, and I learnt the hard way. This tournament has a losers bracket, so I was placed pretty high in that for getting to the ro8. Long wait for people to finish up, so I watched some SlayerS Dragon streaming and some anime. After the brackets finally sorted themselves out, I'm against a masters Terran again, this time on Bel'Shir beach. I just did ling bling muta and he responded with a gg. The next few rounds too an hour so I just chilled until then. I got a two walk overs to make it to the semi-finals of the loser bracket. My friend facing off to make it into the semi finals of losers bracket too, so I was hoping it'd be a semi-finals between us but he fell.. and so did I to the exact same play style. ZvZ is crap.
Starting up my 2nd training set I get 6 pooled.. twice in a row. First time I managed to hold it off with no drone loses, second time I was left with 4, the only difference is that the second time my opponent decided to bring all his drones haha. Lost to another 6 pool because I didn't see lings with my overlord, so I only made 2 lings the rest drones
I started to get a little tired around 6:30. I played in tournaments during my break and then played ladder for the 2nd portion of my training schedule since not many people are still on around 3-7. Met a few characters in Diamond/Plat. Hit repeat games with a few too. A forge fasting Protoss who got literally 8 cannons because I made 6 zerglings(I thought he was about to cannon me) then transition into voidrays.. then high templar all on 2 base.. was eye opening. Met a few Zergs who, apart from the 6 poolers, played macro games with me with the exception of close spawn shattered.
Overall, I think today was a pretty big success, and I don't think the training times should be altered just yet. I think they're about right. I don't get ladder anxiety all too much on SEA, but it's full of cheese. 11-11 is the new craze there. So I'd rate today as a success. I'll report back at the end of the week with my fatigue and other experiences ^^
