Very bad analogy. BW is not college basketball ........... and SC2 definitely isn't the NBA if BW is college basketball. Besides, isn't NBA really better?
It's more like telling people to watch Major League Soccer instead of the UEFA Champions League because he thinks that the European players are ugly and handsome David Beckham is there.

Those who qualify for the OSL/MSL proper get some form of prize money. They also get bonuses for winning matches. Depending on the individual contracts, players may get bonuses for winning streaks, winning a certain number of games in a season, winning Ace games, getting past a certain round in the OSL/MSL etc.
Assuming 1000:1 Won:USD, which is close enough, first place is $40,000.
Further, players often have success clauses in their contracts where they get a bonus if they get far enugh in a major tournament. Finally, if nothing less, winning events boosts their popularity and hence their power to renegotiate for higher salaries.

ok ok, granted but I probably could have worded it better and not been such a dick. However, I still think that the prestige is worth more than the prize money.
Good news! The doomsday predictions for Korean SC in other threads is ridiculous. SC is by all means a national sport in Korea. It's not going anywhere any time soon.

That all dependents on the individual. Some people value money more, and some, their rise in fame & reputation. Can't really generalise something like that according to your own views.

Way to not get my point, which was you don't go to an event then tell the people there you wouldn't watch the shit they watch.
