This is a production cycle. A time without time. The cycle meets its end only when the work is complete. No sooner, no later. The work must be completed. It is now my quest most sacred. I shall... finish the fight.
The entire Anahn race is finished. Sounds, particles, models. Any additions now will only be extra.
The Undead, too, near completion. With their pointy bodies and pure black appearance, they are often mistaken for Shivans or Shadows from B5. Such is the price I pay for using such a shitty engine for my project (sins of a solar empire). You take what you can get... and move on.
Sights are set on the Xy`Kranasha. Revisions have been completed for many of their old ships, and now I struggle to conjure designs for new ones. The exhaustion of all these months has crippled my ability to function. The CTS in my hands like a thousand searing knifes tearing into my muscles. Yet there can be no rest, no rest for the wicked.
All compositing work save CGI, that I can't make, has been completed for part 1 of Black Sun's Episode 1. All voice acting, all recordings. 20 hours+ of avi files reduced to around 8-10 minutes of ingame footage worth using. A lot of it laggy; Sins isn't multithreaded. In fact, it's rather poorly programmed. Performance loss is an expected outcome, especially when recording. To address the CGI needs of this project I have consulted the local Mexican, Lavarinth, in hopes his meager understanding of After Effects will suffice in bringing the last pieces together.
Forward I stride to part 2, and all the anguishing work that comes with it. The Xy`Kranasha, and other races if I choose to represent them, will not be as easy to create as the Anahn were. With their aggressive, bladed bodies, their design standards are far more strict.
Black Sun represents the first and last drops of energy I have ever placed into custom content. Eleven years... almost half of my lifetime has been invested into this work. Soon it shall be over. Soon I shall be granted but a moment to rest. Soon, the fight will be won.
But, only for a moment. The fight will never truly end. So long as I dream I will dream to create... and all else in life is meaningless. My time of modding, however, is over. I am tired of bending to the will of terrible game designers and CS students who think they can program an engine. Black Sun... is an exercise in futility and masochism. One I wish I could have never attempted. I am too deep now, though. Too deep to turn back.
It is likely this will be the last progression update I post before Black Sun is completed. I take this moment to gather my courage, and stride forward once more.
Best regards.
