To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

Oh thank god the thread is back! It was so horrible without being able to lurk this thread all day long. Instead I decided to browse soshified, and honestly I have to say their concept is horrible. There's hardly any thread that isnt like ~3 years old, and everyone just posts for their post count ( just donate ^.^ ). Without loose pictures and videos, this thread wouldn't improve at all, instead it would just make it less enjoyable reallly. I agree on the repost / dat spam but the mods don't care about that since nothing ever gets done about it.
Also totally loving the rumored new Soshi song HikkUp, if they will release their version I'm 100% sure it will be a hit. Time machine is okay but not that awesome, unless they manage to give it their own twist and turn it into something great anyway.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this comment, maybe we should take it to MiR but...
I was really surprised when this thread was locked. I even sent GTR a PM asking why it was locked because I couldn't find the reason.
I don't think the KMD thread should be held to the same standards as other General Forum threads, because it serves a different purpose, is a long-time thread and has really spawned its own community. It's kind of like the League of Legends thread or the Health and Fitness thread.
That being said, I think there needs to be a standard of quality that's a little bit higher than now. I would argue that posting a single Youtube video and going "New ___ song" is completely acceptable; however, responding with "dem legs" or "dat gna" or whatever else adds nothing to the discussion.
Can the members of this thread respond please and let me know what you think. Unfortunately, "we, the community, don't want to be moderated" isn't an option, because allowing shitty posts to become acceptable here puts the thread down a slippery slope where you can no longer have meaningful discussion.

On August 23 2011 19:02 Roffles wrote: I don't see why people can't post childish responses in approval of a picture. It shows that they like the pic, and many others might have the same thoughts as well. While the requotes of the same text are inappropriate, I believe that a chain of Pic -> Approval/Disapproval one liners are still quality posts, as they can trigger discussion such as "Oh hey, I like too", or "Nah, that's hideous". I agree, except for "childish". "Wow, she looks really pretty there" is a totally different tone than "wow dat jiyeon". The former is great; the latter is what I am proposing to be unacceptable.
As for reposts, I'm still a believer of "If it hasn't been posted recently, then it's fine posting it". There's simply too many pages in this thread to sift through, and if a newcomer to TL wants to share something old, then they should be free to do so. Sure it might be frustrating to someone who's browsed the thread since Page 1 and remember the pic/video being posted, but I don't see the harm of something old being posted again. I agree, reposts shouldn't be a big deal. I'm new to this thread, do you expect me to read a thousand pages before I post? Come on. Also, sometimes you want to say "I was listening to ____ recently and it reminded me of this song. Anyone remember this?" You should be allowed to post like that with no problems.
My only issue is that the moderation done in this thread is wildly inconsistent. For instance, a poster was just warned for a simple video link, whereas even though it said before that a simple video link wasn't a good enough post, it was never warned for before aside from maybe a few sporadic cases. I feel like whenever someone decides to come in and warn/ban someone, they do it. Otherwise, no moderation gets done unless the report button is used. I agree. I actually read this thread daily, believe it or not, despite not posting. I think the sudden moderation is inconsistent and that's a problem - we need to reach a point where we can agree on policies and consistently moderate.

What I get from your comments is that it's all about the way of expressing enthusiasm, not about the (unconditional, stupid, unfounded) love for something, be it a picture, video or gif. That should mean that the content itself does not need to change but the way of expressing enthusiasm/dislike/agreement to posts or happenings.
e.g. meaning that asking for a Hara option in that poll would be fine but not without the evident "meme-ish" orthography errors, lack of capitalization etc.
I'm actually fine with that and I hope that otherwise the thread can stay as it is. Its simplicity and lack of sophistication is part of its charm and does, if we're true to ourselves, suit the kind of music very well. Treating this thread just as we treat politics threads doesn't do it justice.

personally i dont post much in this thread often, but when i do its in responses to questions or posting questions
i read this thread everytime i go on TL and personally i dont mind posts like the example, cuz i actually find it pretty funny (but it does get annoying if users chain-spam it). also, i personally dont mind image macros involving kpop, as it might come up with kpop related images i may havie never seen before and might like
i think posters should be allowed to show their affection for their idols but maybe keep the spam down

i don't know where else this would go =[ where dat hara option? for da alien lubbers This is a perfect example of a comment that I am proposing to be unacceptable. Really? What's wrong with it? I think it's similar to what Roffles mentions in his post. This post has potential to spark conversation. Granted, it's not going to be very substantive, but I think that's understood since the topic is Korean pop music...
I don't think many changes are needed. Craton is right in what he's said and what he's been saying. Mods show up every so often and blow things out of proportion. If you are a frequent visitor, Chill, you know this thread gets along just fine. Of course there is the occasional exception. But that can be handled without a drawn out discussion. That is, ban people who post the same 2 words 5x over.
Also, did oopsoopsbaby just drop the N bomb for the second time in a month, and receive only a warning? I'd rather discuss that.

personally im fine with the posting going on currently.
reposts is fine for me as long as its not like a couple of pages old, since i do repost from time to time when i find the need to (eg. me reposting a song that i thought would fit into what sephy60 was looking for, and also because i rmb posting that particular song quite a while ago, thus thinking that it will be fine to post it again)
and as for the type of comments that Chill is proposing to be unacceptable, well personally i dont really mind such kind of posting, just that it might just be just treading on the fine line on "acceptable posting" here in this thread. My stand will be that "its fine as long as i dont see it spamming/flooding the entire page/pages".
the only type of posting i dont like (and has long ceased to exist since our last locking/moderating) is general hate posts that serves no purpose but to simply hate. but that period of terrible posting is long gone~ (and that it better stays gone)
as for GTR locking the thread temporarily, posters here should really be more self aware. well cmon, one guy goes "dat ____", the other quotes it and posts the exact same line, by the 2nd or 3rd repost people should really know its time to stop that kind of silly posting..
its a thread by the community FOR the community, stop making it look silly for mods having to step in.
*EDIT* been quietly reading the discussion ever since the the thread is unlocked, i apologize for posting only now ><" wanted to just step aside and just read .

Look, writing "Do you have any more Tester replays?" and "MOARRRRRRRNAOOOOO" accomplish the same purpose, but have different tones and set up different responses. I believe this thread needs a minimum standard of quality for replies.
One of the replies above mentions that this topic gets along fine. Well, I'd argue it's a sliding scale and it can do better. Don't forget that it was heading in a bad direction about 6 months ago before moderators starting heavily addressing it.

I almost never post in this thread but I browse it daily and it's where I get most of my information about Korean music. For people like me when someone posts just a youtube video of a performance by itself is actually really useful. I also think that pictures and gifs of kpop artists is part of the experience.
It's a total disappointment when I see a new post in this topic and it's just some internet speak so I wont miss people spamming 'dat yejin' after a picture though. I would hope people would at least explain why they think Yejin has 'dat' instead of filling the topic with worthless spam

(2D of course) I need this link asap, unless it's that chinese site that was posted a ways back, then I'll just give up because that was too hard to navigate. + Show Spoiler + Unfortunately it turns out to not be in 1080, sorry people. Damn those listing things wrongly.
In other news + Show Spoiler +It has been revealed that Dal Shabet’s Jiyul recently suffered from myositis (muscle inflammation).
Prior to Dal Shabet’s “Bling Bling” comeback, Jiyul received hospital treatment for myositis after experiencing severe pain in her left arm and leg during choreography practices.
A company representative stated, “It differed for each member, but all of them did feel some pain in their left arms and legs. Later, we found out that the strain was linked to the choreography, which required a lot of left-sided movements – all because the choreographer was left-handed.”
In fact, the choreography for Dal Shabet’s “Supa Dupa Diva“, “Pink Rocket“, and “Bling Bling” all have several moves that require the use of the left hip, arm, and leg.
The choreographer, Kim Na Rae, is a left-handed person. Because of her habit, the choreographer unknowingly included many left-sided moves in her choreography. The six Dal Shabet members, who are all right-handed, were forced to use their less developed, left-sided muscles, and eventually reached the point where they had to be hospitalized.
A company representative jokingly commented, “We began promotions after Jiyul received treatment and recovered. The members are slowly getting used to the choreography now.” Aren't choreographers supposed to think about things like that? That's pretty fail. + Show Spoiler + And since it was asked, I was not impressed with Stellar at all. The song was an abortion, the MV was ridiculous and the interview about them was stupid. 'I'm a 527 year old sky princess and this bit of jewelry is my ex boyfriend' is not quirky and cute, its just insane.
That made me spend the past hour watching their performances just to see the effect of a left handed choreographer. Supa Dupa Diva does indeed have Dal Shabet holding their microphones in their predominant hand through about half of the choreo and Jiyul spends quite a bit of Pink Rocket right handing her mic. It really does not seem like a big problem on paper. In practice, though, the choreographer really should have been able to notice that those 3-4 minutes of finesse work with their left arms, multiplied by the six to ten hours spent rehearsing the choreo daily would have a cumulative effect. Wonder if there was anything they could have done conditioning-wise to have kept such damage from taking place.

I don't post in this thread, but I've read it since late 2010 at least every other day. I am totally in favor of posts including new MVs, photo-shoots, songs, fancams, interviews, variety shows, gifs with little text accompanied. In a way it is a new source, and that is very important to me. I can understand the people spamming getting punished but locking the thread and deciding to change/set rules?
I think Chill has the right idea. Clearly nobody wants to read through consecutive pages of numerous people writing dumb stuff quoting a single image macro, but the moderation does not need to be that strict in the end. I do not see how making someone go from "dat IU" to "Wow, IU looks gorgeous." is going to somehow produce a better thread. That is pushing the moderation too far. My 2¢.

i don't know where else this would go =[ where dat hara option? for da alien lubbers This is a perfect example of a comment that I am proposing to be unacceptable. I'm pretty sure my comment didn't hurt anyone, it's mainly the spam in this thread that's annoying.. or the people hotlinking to AKP images/articles.
and maybe I should've posted this instead: "Wow, where's the hara couple option? she's very pretty" but seriously where is the fun in that? I think what I posted is just a more expressive comment. Either way people are still going to post/spam dumb shit that's been posted already(stuff that doesn't require you to look through 1000+ pages, you can find it in a simple search.) http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=98009¤tpage=1537#30722

thats just a stupid moderation... whats it to you whether someone writes like.. how should i say it... more stupidly then being polite. Its a long going forum, let people post what they want to say, if its over the line then they get warning/ban. Who is this guy to say we should only post a certain way in a music discussion, especially when a lot of these mv's are sexy... Is this moderator for real... i admit sometimes some comments are stupid but if its not offensive, you don't like it just read on,
A minimum standard of quality for replys? in a music thread?,, What a joke Who else enjoys it when u browse through the forum and someone posts a part of a video or post u missed before saying dat yejin and you go back up to check what u missed. You don't go out much? Wow dat ______, you've never heard before? Go back up and read your own posts and reflect...
