Consistency is key to be a top player. If he can pull out beautiful wins but not be consistent in a BO3 format, then he might not be top2 zerg ....

Actually I hope MVP continue sucking.
It means DRG will pick up more kill streaks, which is good my my fantasy team =D

I have to disagree with you. Not to bash on TheWind, but oGs since GSTL1 have made several questionable decisions in regards to who to play.
GSTL1: Plays 3 consecutive Terrans against IM even though Seed looked extremely strong against them.
GSTL 2: Plays SuperNova (who at that time was not very good at TvT) after SlayerSRyung beat TOP and had shown himself to be very good TvT.
GSTL S1: Plays Cezanne as their Ace even though they have Huk, who's on a hot streak recently. Also do note that Huk and Jinro may not always show up in the line up because both Zenio and MC will probably take their spots once they're back from NASL. It was a pretty good opportunity, and one probably wasted.
Now, I'm not saying that Huk would have won and Cezanne was a bad choice. What I'm saying is there's something wrong with oGs's thought process when it comes to player selection.
And for me, you always have to play your Ace as your last man, unless of course it's 3-3 (which I admit it was) and the Ace doesn't have to play more than 1 game. So always putting out DRG as the last man makes a lot of sense to me, and there's nothing wrong with it. It's part of the team strategy.

DRG = too good
seriously ppl, stop with the oh he's only code B and he sucks cause he cant qualify for code A, thats a load of rubbish.
, almost every single time mvp has called upon him to perform and win the clutch matches he has done it . are you guys forgetting also that DRG also won the LG cinema tournament against code s SCfou? you know that same night where polt rapped mma? , yes that same day.
DRG = just to good, the moment he gets into code A, hes going to win it no problem.

A predictable ace does not necessarily make a good ace, even if he's a future 5 time GSL champion.
I hope MVP show some variety. As I said, fan of DRG, but SlayerS bored me in the team leagues a while ago. I think IM might be the strongest team this season, they aren't afraid to not rely upon their aces. It's a tougher thing to do than many realise.
How MVP relies on DRG isn't really comparable to how Slayers uses MMA. There's using your best player as an ace and then there's using the only consistently good player on your team to win 3 out of 4 games every match.

Let me ask you, Zeru: How did DRG, a player that "can't even qualify" for Code A, beat sC, a Code S-class Terran, in a Bo5? Like I said, stop looking at tournament status, start looking at skill exhibited in gameplay.

You don't have to be in Code S to be considered a great player, but you do need to have strong individual league presence to be considered among the very best.
This is practically the same argument people have always had with BW players like Sea and Leta. Great PL players, always got their team wins, but when the individual leagues came around they disappeared.
For DRG to be among MC and Nestea, like people are already claiming, he has to start showing more tournament results.

It's too bad the smaller LG 3D tournament wasn't casted, because it's evident that hardly anyone knows about it. DRG went through several Bo3s and a Bo5 to win it. But yeah, Code A qualifiers are insane, because you can't really even prepare for specific matches as far as I know, which is why I keep insisting that luck is a large factor in getting through them.
|
Also, for everyone hating on DRG not making it through qualifiers: You do realize that you're implying that everyone who deserves to be in code A makes it through the qualifiers? There could EASILY be 4 players in the tournament who deserve to make it in a slot when only one gets that slot, as a hypothetical. When two of the top players who most deserve it play one another, one has to win, and one gets knocked out.
It's completely stupid to imply that Code A is the bar for skilled players, seeing as how difficult it is to actually make it in due to how exclusive the tournament is.

I don't get why people are even questioning whether DongRaeGu is one of the top Zergs in Korea at the moment. Yeah, he's not in Code A, but do people not realize how difficult and competitive it is to get in? He was 2 matches away from qualifying two seasons ago, and only 1 match away from qualifying 1 season ago. Who hasn't ever lost a Bo3 to "perceived" lesser skilled players? Nestea? MC? MVP?
