It feels a lot like the deck-building part of Magic - which, I am told, is most of the fun of higher-level Magic play - and you also get to play it out immediately. Games only take 20-30 minutes; support 2-4 players; it's easy to learn and have fun with immediately, even if you are playing vs much better people; there's little downtime; there's really high replayability; there's a great deal of strategic depth.

Also, I haven't read to deep into the Dominion community but it isn't a "solved" game is it? I heard some rumors that it was.

![]() Hell, even if you don't have any cards already you can just go to like Zendikar's prerelease and take some lands from the land box they should have (I know I took a good 100-200 lands from ARB's prerelease ![]()

absolutely INSANELY fun game to play over and over and over again. plus, you only have to make ONE investment (or three, depending if you want to purchase the two expansions like i do). Totally worth it. everyone in my house plays it and everyone i introduce it to immediately picks it up and wants to play more gogogogoogo

If Sean thinks it's ballin', it's probably ballin'. I just have two questions. Will it be simple enough for me to get my friends who aren't that into strategic games to play it? They shy away from things like Go, Chess or Risk. Is it fun to play 1v1 or is a larger game much better?

I'd say 3 players is the most balanced way to play the game. 4 Players is also quite ok. 1v1 is also fun to play, but sometimes you will get mass crippled (comparable to being 6 pooled) and then I don't feel like playing out the whole game. Also, you can play online here: http://dominion.isotropic.org/ All the sets are there and it's quite nice to play with a friend, to get the hang of the game and to see which expansions you like. They even have ranked play. I like it better than BSW.

I'm sure I'll be able to get 3 or 4 players pretty often. I may try the online version a bit but I am pretty set on buying this game either way, to me board and card games are just less fun on a computer. Also, if I play 1v1 it will be with my girlfriend and a casual game so hopefully she wont cheese me=P

Is this game worth buying or should I print? I already bought Bang! which wasn't really worth it probably but I like having the actual set and supporting game creators. Is this something that I'll play a lot or just a one/two time thing that gets lost in the shelves. Games I like: Bang!, Catan, Risk, etc. Monopoly sucks ![]() edit: Also I'm not sure if there's a boardgame thread but what's the verdict on Ticket to Ride. good game?

You can also look into Ascension and Thunderstone. Both are deck building games, much like Dominion and both are pretty cool. Ticket to Ride is deck building as well, but I don't know anything about that one.

There is also a free android phone app that lets you play, albeit with atrocious graphics. That Site isn't great without having played a few times on your own first, the mental leap that rushing for treasure is better than buying multiple kingdom cards is akin to the SC2 leap of realizing large-scale macro > defensive structures.
