Hey, all you tech-savvy peeps,

I have a friend who can't play on iccup on her windows 7 PC. She used to be able to play in the past, but stopped for a long while. She wants to go back into playing now, but when she tries to log into the abyss, it gets stuck on "Accessing account". If she opens the game in windowed mode, it lets her enter the chat lobby, but with the host/join buttons grayed out and no option to actually play the game.

She says she has the latest update of the iCCup antihack launcher, and has updated StarCraft: BroodWar to the latest 1.16.1 patch, so I have no idea what the problem is. The game is saying: "Your Internet connection is either very poor or is not processing UDP packets throught port 6112. You will be able to chat but will not be able to play games. Contact your Internet service provider or your system administrator for assistance with opening this port."

Help me, Teamliquid, you're my only hope.

I sort of had the same problem entering any servers when I tried to log in when I had Korean characters on. It would tell me similarly that I can chat, but not be able to play games, despite not changing anything internet-wise. 5 seconds later and after turning off Korean characters, it let me log in without any problems... Maybe she has something on in her desktop that's being a poop in trying to log in?

she has to forward he ports lol

EDIT : or she can access into router and remove all port forwarding regulations if her router has that option, otherwise try opening BOTH UPD and the other one i forget, 6112 through 6112, and if that doesn't work try 6112- through 6119

I had that same issue and just forwarded ports and then it worked and could make games too

Well, either that you had a lot of programs using the internet or a program(s) blocking connections through port 6112. Frankly, I don't know how to fix it. In times like this I either exit all of the windows or simply restart my computer. PS: This appears even if my ports are forwarded.

There are 2 ways to do a port forward.
The one via ruter is tiping in your browser your ruter adresso, most likely 192.168.1.1 and there forward the 6112 port. Some ruters have the option "gaming" and there you can choose starcraft.

The other metotd is better, because will allow you to use more options in sc. You go to the internet gateway, in network connections and proprietis -> somethink like advanced settings and then add. As name give whatever like sc1, as ip put in your own ip (not the internet one, the lan ip) select udp and forward the 6112 port. Then ok. And that is it

Don't you also need to set up a static IP address for it to work? That's what portfoward.com told me the first time I went through the process of doing this, but it's something that nobody ever seems to mention.

Had this problem. Opening ports worked.

But i think (if it's connected to the girl tournament) that she can't do it for a reason.

I'm 95% sure that this is a port forwarding issue. If you changed router/modem/gateway or ISP, it might have changed how ports are being handled.

If you have a typical single household internet connection, then opening ports will always be enough to enable you to join games. Sometimes you need to open ports, sometimes you don't, depending on the game, and how the gateway between your computer and the ISP have been pre-configured.

You can access the router by entering 192.168.0.1 in firefox/ie/whatever. Then a username and password will be needed, and they are usually quite straightforward, like admin/password or admin/isp name
If you know what router you have, brand and model number, you can pretty easily find out the username and password on the internet. If you only know the brand, it's still possible to figure out.

The actual port forwarding can be anything between really easy to really hard, depending on your basic knowledge about networks, but anyone can figure out how to do it pretty quickly, if someone can point you in the right direction.

Basically what you want to do is open 6112-6119 TCP and UDP, and connect them to your local ip adress, typically 198.168.0.2. You can figure out this address by opening the start menu, typing cmd , and then typing ipconfig in the window that popped up. What you're looking for is the ip or ipv4 adress, not the gateway adress (198.168.0.1).
With that info in mind, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what to do.

Hey, sorry for the bump here.

Trying to play some iCcup with a friend (he has Norton antivirus that might be the issue here) and he cannot join nor create games. We play with this other guy and we both can join and create games. When we try to join the first guy's game, the screen greys out and it prompts some error about how we're unable to join that game.

Any of you guys know which port he needs to open on his router?

we did :
start- cmd - ipconfg- 192.168.X.X - which port to open now??

Thanks!

Port forwarding only helps with being able to host games.

Also what error did it say?
The harder it becomes, the more you should focus on the basics.
