Basically, War kills the big demon guy, the 7th seal is finally broken, and War declares war on basically fucking everything as the 3 final horsemen descend from the skies.
Nonetheless, you play as Death this time around. As the Developers say, it will not be so much as a bulky, head on kind of fighter like War was in the original -- more of a fast moving initiator who fucks your shit up before you know it's coming.
Oh, and this trailer was released recently. Fucking awesome in my opinion.
I can't wait for this. Comes out Summer 2012, and it seems like they are really going to improve on the more repetitive and dry nature of the first one that brought it down more than it should have, and they also say they are going to make it far more open world comparative to the first Darksiders. That and a fast moving character with dual scythes killing everything? Fuck yeah.
Never beat the first one (Got to the part where you're looking for invisible anvils after beating several bosses then the central palace thingy) but loved it, sounds really awesome that you play as Death this time.

Hey listen! Is that a bad thing? Hey listen! Hey listen! Hey listen!
Problem I had with DS1 was that it had a lot of menial labor (makes you spend hours whacking random mooks) or solving puzzles that took entirely too much time due to backtracking and such... the big castle near the end was aggravating as hell since you do the same damn ripped-off (from Portal) puzzle three times; they didn't even go through the trouble of providing at least a different boss at the end of each road -_-
Combat was nice though, hopefully they can cut down on the monotony this time.

Yeah. If they can take away the monotonous shit, this could easily be GOTY material.
Aside from some annoying repetition and few very tough (as in high health) enemies that still offered practically no threat, it was pretty fun game. I'll probably get the new one once it goes to sale as I still have a decent sized backlog to clear.
Darksiders II will feature a survival arena mode called Crucible, allowing players to continue advancing their character even after finishing the main game and providing the ultimate challenge.
Key Features:
After completing five of the mode’s 100 unique waves, gamers will be given the option of taking a prize or continuing for another five waves for a chance at even better items.
However, if they fall in combat they will leave with nothing. Only the most skilled players will have what it takes to best all 100 waves and claim the greatest prizes.
In addition to this mode, Darksiders II will feature a New Game+ mode which will allow players to carry over their Death for a new game retaining all of their skills and equipment.
Oh and there's also going to be a One Life Mode, like Hardcore for Witcher 2.
This gameplay trailer looks good, only thing that bothers me are the graphics. To me it looks like it ripped straight from WoW which graphics are imo outdated by at least 5-7 years now.

I'm personally happy a game isn't trying to make their game ULTRA BLOOM SO REALISTIC and is going for more stylized graphics. The same reason I'm loving Dishonored's graphics. It's a nice change of pace. Sure it's not technically the most astounding but it looks cool.

Don't forget the Triforce shard Armageddon Blade shard gathering
Played some hours of it and the PC version is really bad! The graphics look TERRIBLE! I feel like I'm back to 2002. The textures are one of the worst I've seen in some time. The gameplay is fine - but the graphics and the terrible questtracking make it really hard to enjoy.

don't even give a shit about graphics, give me a low down on the gameplay, what you liked and what you disliked, graphics mean shit and the aesthetics are pleasing from the from what i've seen so far..
