2.5 hours in and this is a fucking blast. Doing Prince of Persia dungeons, fighting badass bosses and playing on Apocalypse so the gameplay is challenging as fuck. According to my bro who is blasting through this game, the first world is longer than the first game for him. Which is reaffirming as fuck. The combat is much more satisfying than the first one. Combos are 100% NECESSARY this time around ,and you HAVE to mix them up on Apocalypse to survive. The combat is far more fast paced compared to being a walking tank in the first game. They improved the combat in many, many, many more ways (such as having health potions instead of green health chests scattered randomly across the map). The mobs are super varied, there's an OPEN WORLD that you can say "fuck you" to the main story and go explore big ass dungeons if you want to get your shit slapped in because you're too low leveled. There are awesome dungeons that I get reminiscent of PoP from and this fucking combat man, I just can't get over how much more fun it is compared to the first one. I feel like I'm a magical being because I'm not having any of the graphical, UI, or camera issues everyone else is. Every single aspect of Darksiders 1 was taken and improved for this game. Every single one. The only thing I see people honestly consistently bashing is the graphics. We knew from day 1 it wasn't going to be a pretty game. At least THQ let Vigil make its own PC version instead of making it a half assed port and it looks much better and runs better than the console version. I think it look stylized and pretty good considering how fucked financially THQ is right now. Also, fuck you people bashing the music. This is the coolest shit ever. One of my favorite soundtracks this year. It's funny as hell watching Death just shit on everybody and they dont do anything because they're afraid of him. This guy told him to do a fetch quest for him and he was like "lolno, go fuck yourself you don't tell Death what to do"

Around 2 hours in and love it. Screen tearing and low res textures are an issue but as long as 7 year old technology is around (im looking at you PS3/360) that is inevitable. I liked the first game alot. By adding RPG elements (loot, tree, levels) they made the sequel so much better. They also have side quests now. My first impression of the game has been a good one. Lets see if it can stay positive until the end.

You wake up at Seatac, SFO, LAX. You wake up at O’Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, BWI. Pacific, mountain, central. Lose an hour, gain an hour. This is your life, and it’s ending one minute at a time. You wake up at Air Harbor International. The people I meet, they’re single serving friends. Between offer letter and layoff, we have our time together, but that’s all we get. If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person? Let me tell you from experience, you do. You box up, ship out, fly off, and start all over again. You learn to be alone." I had flashbacks of the movie when I read that paragraph. Edit: I read the rest of the article - harrowing. "I was literally homeless once laid off after shipping Transformers: War for Cybertron. Literally fucking homeless in San Diego, with my family 2,700 miles across the country back in Ohio. Meanwhile, the game has some of my favorite graphic design and interface design work of my career. A neon-orange stick on the box that says ’9/10 IGN’. Praised by fans. I’m homeless. At least I was smart about the student loans." It's sad to see that the industry still abuses its workers like that.

Are there any other hotkeys or shortcuts I wasn't told about? I heard there is a hotkey to automatically equip all the best gear? I don't know the key though =/ edit: Nevermind, found the control options and everything.

The game is great fun, so far it definitely feels like a worthy sequel to Darksiders 1. The graphics are fine, the atmosphere and style is great. Sure, it was very cool to fight in crumbled cities in Darksiders 1, but for being in a completely fantasy place, it's interesting enough. The different areas look very different and have a nice feel to them. Sure, it's no Crysis 11, but it looks perfectly fine, people need to lower their expectations greatly if they feel this game is ugly. The combat is fluid and fun and the RPG additions such as loot etc work well. It's not a huge addition, but a welcome one. Now, for the complaints: The PC controls are functional, but that's about it. I haven't tried playing with my 360 control yet, but that's probably what I'll switch to. The biggest issue with the PC controls are not the controls themselves, but the hassle it is to rebind them, it literally took me until about halfway through the first dungeon until I found how to rebind them, which was greatly needed. However, of course they don't just let you go in and rebind your keys, oh no. Let's say you want to have an ability bound to "3". Fine, just go to the ability, click it and press 3, right? Not right. Another ability is already bound to "3", and of course the game can't just swap them or unbind the other one, NO. You click the ability, press "3", get an error message and is brought to the top of the binds list, which is really annoying since the scrollwheel doesn't work. So press the other ability and press escape to unbind it? NOPE, it just backs you off TO THE TOP OF THE DAMN LIST AGAIN! You have to press the other ability, press a button which isn't bound yet, go back to the ability you want and THEN rebind it. So fucking stupid and annoying. (For you guys wondering, the rebind menu is the last menu in the "O" menu.) That's pretty much it so far though, will definitely keep playing this.

My only gripe is the controls. I have been going back and forth between keyboard / mouse and my 360 controller. Still debating...
