Hey all! I've had a lot of time on my hands the last few months and decided to try and make something for the SC2 player community. Ultimately what I wanted was something like tf2lobby for SC2. I've been kicking it around for a while but with all the attention on BNet 0.2 during the last few days I figured this is the best time to get it out there and see if enough people want to use it. I'd love to continue adding features if the demand is there.
What is MoreGG.sc?
I created this tool to help players find opponents who want to play exactly how they do. For 1v1 you can select your opponent's league and race, any maps you want to play on (including GSL and MLG tournament maps), and what kind of series (bo1, bo3, bo5). If a matching opponent is found you will be placed in a chat lobby together where you can see each other's name and character code. To play, you'll have to add each other on BNet and host a custom game according to the settings you chose. It's a pain, but I couldn't think of a better way to do it.
The site also supports custom lobbies. Right now the UI is somewhat like the old custom game list from BW and WC3. To host you specify a lobby name, map name, and max number of players. Players looking to join a custom game will see them all in a list and can choose the specific lobby they want. Again, when the lobby is finished you'll have to arrange the actual custom game on BNet.
Issues
Obviously manually getting in touch with the players you find on BNet sucks. I'd love to have tf2lobby's ability to start the game for all players with the correct settings but Blizzard just doesn't provide the APIs that Valve does.
There's also no way to verify character codes or that players are who they say they are. tf2lobby uses steam's user API but we don't have anything like that for BNet. You can at least block specific players from being matched against you.
Still interested?
Try it out!
Keep in mind that it's beta and will definitely have some bugs to fix but I'd love to hear any and all feedback you have for me. With this basic version complete I'd really like the community to decide where I should take it. What do you think?

very neat tool! looks great

I think it wouldn't be too hard to set up a bot creating games, adding people and inviting them.

Can't it cause a problem if both players are on different servers? Or have you figured that out?

Yup. The global chat is separated by region and players should never get matched against players from another region for 1v1 or see custom games hosted by those in other regions.

This needs much more attention. Really cool.

This is sick, unfortunately the matchmaker cant seem to find anyone for me >_>

This sounds like it has a lot of potential!

It's disheartening when we have to 'exit' battle.net to get this kind of search/league identification/etc functionality, but I digress. This looks like it could be an interesting tool, is there an in game channel for it as well (to cover your bases so to speak)?
Edit: Actually...does someone care to comment/know on whether this violates the b_net TOU in 'mimicking the service'?

Yeah, there aren't a lot of people on yet and it really depends on having a lot of active users to find a match. I'll be adding an indicator of how many people are in queue today. If things don't pick up maybe I'll try to schedule a time for everyone who's interested to log on and get it rolling.

Unfortunately I'm not at home so I can't start a channel but I will tonight, it'll be moreggsc.

Sick!!
More ways to practice!

spread the word everyone!

Let's get this big! Someone x-post to reddit maybe?

Sounds like a great tool! I'll try and idle in it when I'm online to get the numbers on, but it REALLY relies on a lot of people getting involved (which they should).
|
Love the idea, and I'll try it when I get home. The one thing I feel is needed still from B.net 2.0 is the ability to choose the race you'd like to play against. Barring friends/practice partners, there's no way to simply pick-up a game in a specific match-up, and it's infuriating.

epic website, im a fan. will need a chat channel system soon enough, there might be too many people in the 1 chat if it gets too popular

It's not connecting to server...
