Hi! I'm a fresh new user. So, this is my first thread in this website. I'm also a map maker for Starcraft, so I'm here to talk about a fresh new map. I hope you guyz like.
Team Revoki contacted me this weekend because they were needing a melee map that you don't have to remake. They wanted to use on their team. So I made the system, which I called iCJUG. The system works for any melee map. It's basically a 1v1 melee tournament where players based on skills and priorities are picked to play together. Who loses become and observer and who wins stays playing. And of course, there are all the Nexus Word Wars features on it, including admins, all-time ranking, player's stars, etc. Your score in one map is carried over to all other iCJUG maps.
iCJUG is the official training place of the master league players from Revoki.
Anyway, the map was published now, so this is my first post about it. It is more fun when you play with 14-players. If you do, I will be happy to hear some feedback and ways to improve it. You will find iCJUG on the first page if you filter by Melee.
Currently, there are 8 iCJug maps published on Battle.net: Shakuras Plateau, Xel'Naga Caverns, Terminus RE, The Shattered Temple, iCCup Valhalla, Antiga Shipyard, and MLG iCCup Testbug. (I will be glad to hear more suggestions).
Thank you. =]

I've been playing on this map and find it to be AWESOME!! I do have concerns about three things at the moment.
1. is the game time in the upper right hand corner being measured in actual seconds, or sc2 seconds?
2. Is there any way for observers to hide the vision of one of the players? For example, this becomes important when someone scouts into their opponents base but you're not sure if they saw a certain building. By turning off player 2s vision for a second you can see only what player 1 has seen.
Suggestions:
-reset the 'replay stats' in the upper left hand corner after each match. Units lost for example will sum up each games units lost til you exit the map. If you could clear those after each gg then theyd be more useful.
-Add a 'rockthevote' feature that would work as follows: 20% of players would have to type 'rockthevote' to enable a map vote. If 2/3rds of the players vote to change the map then the map changes (without having to go back to lobby)
This feature would make this map system about 10 x better simply because of the way battle net makes it hard for anyone to get an icjug map going for any map other than shattered temple at the moment. Perhaps this will change in time due to icnreasing popularity of your map (it really is the best system out there).
-If you could display more than just apm at the end of a match. APM is somewhat of an irrelevant statistic. It would be cool to see the income / army size graphs at the end of each match and perhaps a unit efficiency statistic (number of units built / number of units killed) or (cost of units built / cost of units killed). Another super useful statistic would be time spent supply capped. And by this i mean time spent having a unit queud up that you cant actually build until you finish building an additional supply depot.
I am not a map maker so I don't know how feasible these are, but I'm just trying to help brainstorm some additions to this great map.
Thank you, I've been having a blast playing this!
One last thing... Nexus Wars o r d Spells N-word vertically. Not sure if that is intentional, but it may prevent blizz from featuring your map despite how great it is.

u the man mr alves great contribution
edit: now that d is set up in eu= let's ..bait!

I really really enjoyed playing on the maps. I loved the UI and it felt much better than obscustom (great job on them too, but not being able to see production tab is kinda a pain).
For improvements? I would love to see the ability to watch only one player ( so that I can see what they see). One thing that was fun with obscustom maps was the ability to communicate with the players, if enough of the spectators voted to allow it. Not a very useful feature if it's just random people, but if it's friends its really awesome.
Criticisms? I really really hate Terminus. It's so heavily zerg flavored (it's impossible to expand for the other races since Zerg can just tech up to Mutas and harrass you like crazy, which means that my only real play is 4 gate or 2 stargate). I highly suggest you change it to Terminus RE, which is a much much better map.
Could you make a version for Metalopolis (maybe even allow picking random spawns or cross-position only, on a game by game basis).

If you could clear those after each gg then theyd be more useful. I tried to do that, but I don't know the map editor function to clean the stats. I tried cleaning the player score, but it didn't work. If you know the action to clean stats, please let me know!

I will add more data as soon as I learn what function cleans the data of a specific player.

If Blizzard wants me to change the logo because of this, I would definitely change. But, I really don't think this is a problem and it's obviously unintentional.

Later on, I'll let people also enable it by voting.

Dear Rodrigo, i have a very important question. Who is this old woman on the map preview? Is it you? O_o

oh god rodrigo. you really had to put debates in your forum name?
o lordy

really a fan of the map. Seems to be quite a bit more user friendly than 1v1 obs. thanks

No. It's not me.

Does that look better?

iCJug Metalopolis has been published (with exclusive comic)!
Also, new feature: - Now players in game can enable chat between players and observers (press F12 to learn how).

Love the map Rodrigo, all of yours actually. (I think me and my friends were the only people to play debates a lot).
I've played the Shattered Temple and the Xel N'aga Caverns ones, very cool. I'd love it if the new ladder maps were included!
Great job btw, I play those maps a lot so we don't have to remake for koth haha.

Tried it out the other day, had this weird issue where after winning a game as zerg, I respawned as zerg with an infinite food limit.
Didn't have to make overlords or anything... boy that was fun. It did kick in mid game, but when you have 85 roaches + about 40 hydras + 125 drones, it's pretty much over.

Remove Terminus and Lost Temple. I know I've told you this, and anyone decent on TL will tell you the very same thing.
The longer you wait not to replace them, the longer the maps will take to become popular. In fact I just talked to a guy today who said he hated ICJug because of the map pool (although he likes Xel'naga and Metalopolis, so I'm not even sure if he realized those maps were available)
Also, the timer display is still completely overlapping for me on 4:3 resolution. There is absolutely NO SPACE there (like 2-3 Px), unless you move it underneath the menu buttons. Personally I recommend putting it just above the mini-map, where the game timer typically goes. It makes perfect sense to me.
Suggestions:
- Add a vote-kick system (your/revoki choice on whether admin can be kicked)
- Add a list of commands in the help menu (maybe you did this already recently?)
- Add a zoom in + zoom out functionality, as well as camera rotation. This helps for people who want to do commentaries or who just want to view the battle at a better or wider angle.
- Don't know if this is desirable or even doable, but add special powers to game hosts (in-game). It doesn't need to be admin powers, but maybe for example the ability to choose who plays who. That might seem like huge ass power, but consider how it worked in brood wars— many people want it back like how it was in Brood Wars. In SC2 there is currently no way to host a public play/obs game guaranteeing you will play, in BW you could just host your own game if the games you joined had the player slots full. Hosts had the power to choose who they wanted to play before the game started.
That said, people should still be allowed to refuse to play, it's not like the host could force them to play, they could just leave-- hence why it should be a choice for the player of course.
- Because players cannot currently see what upgrades are done (aside from like speed, attack, armor, health, range which are all visible if you just hover over the unit's stat), there should be a little GUI box that is minimize-able that shows the upgrades each side completed

If 2/3rds of the players vote to change the map then the map changes (without having to go back to lobby) While it's a nice Idea, map size limit isn't even the only problem from stopping this. Blizzard gimped mapmakers when it came to changing the terrain, or even having terrain at all. There are only EIGHT tiles (the same as each tileset has) you can use for an entire map. As far as I understand there is NO WAY on having more than that, which just seems terribly STUPID to me.

Assuming it was possible to reset the fog of war, I don't think there is a way of easily showing the things a certain player has already seen, because when you share vision, it doesn't share the memories of that vision (or am I mistaken??).
It's obviously not completely useless though, you'd just need to move to vision of that player BEFORE the scout in question you want to check happens.

I like how you can toggle the bottom panel and the information panel on the top right. I think the current setup is just how it should be for the participating KotH players.
However, I think the game host should at least have the option 'Make Spectator' in the lobby if they want to. It seems to be disabled for some reason. If you made it so Spectators/Referees aren't allowed, I highly suggest you re-enable the option to do so. The customized observer mode is great for players, but I don't think its suitable for casters or others who are there just to watch.
Here's the differences/limitations of being an observing player on this map and being a Spectator/Referee: -Can't use observer hotkeys (D Production leaderboard, U Unit leaderboard, V Quick Player View, 1-9 for Player Camera, etc) -Can't select multiple units/buildings -The command card is disabled (Example - you can't tell if Metabolic Boost has been researched when you click a Spawning Pool). -Can't see the players current selections, control groups, or mouse clicks. -Follow player camera isn't in real time like it is for spectators; it doesn't jump, it pans.

I'm pretty sure SC2 is limited right now in the way you can have spectators for custom games - I don't know the specifics of it though. I think the max player count including OBs is the same as max player count overall though? so that obviously causes some issues, since if you want observer slots, that means you need to remove player slots - that is a limitation with the way the SC2 is designed.

I played on the shattered temple flavor last night and I have to say GREAT WORK. It is really fun to be able to spectate and then play. It really feels like a little community in each game. Thank you!

These are so awesome! I'd love it if you made a Tal'darim Altar LE version!
