I spent a couple hours playing on these maps tonight, but I ended up banned by a player named TuckerX. I had been observing for a couple hours and finally jumped in to play. I first played PvP against Tucker and defeated him. Then I played PvT. He then told me he couldn't believe he lost to me, first reported me as a troll but no one voted, then paused his next game and banned me. Anything you can do about that? Who has control over the map? Is it simply the host or do you know this person? I can post replays if that's the case.
Edit: Found his profile if it helps. Yes, he is an icjug admin. Do you have the replay? If possible, send the replay to scdebates@hotmail.com I'll talk to him. He might lose his admin powers. And sorry for that. NEW ICJUG MAP PUBLISHED!iCJug Shakuras Plateau.Enjoy. Sent your way, I loved the map while I was able to play, I'm hoping for the best here. Thanks!

Played on one last night with TLNY. Was awesome.

TheGrimace,
I watched the replay. He provoked you by saying that you did a shitty job, and you said that it says a lot about him. Then, he banned you. I've talked to him about that already. Hopefully, it won't happen again.

I see no reason to continue playing on this system with admins so willing to let their emotions get involved. It ruined my experience tonight, but it's not a huge let down, I know I can find other obs maps.

I've already warned him. He is still admin because this was his first problem. If the problem persists, he will be banned.

TuckerX tried to kick me once too but I suppose it was at a time where he didn't have admin power.
There was a guy that said "hh" "hh" "ahh fail at GG. I'm too lazy to try again, oh well", then proceeds to stall the game for extra 5 minutes or something, so I vote to kick him, but then tuckerX votes to kick me? pretty damn stupid if you ask me, but i guess people can do what they want?
And I think having to type GG shouldn't be necessary - while it's not common, lets say someone's keyboard runs out of batteries or fails in some other way and they want to surrender but not quit the game. Or more commonly, maybe someone just doesn't want to say GG because they got 6 pooled and lost/won, or whatever.
Other ideas: -Make Metalopolis and shattered temple MLG style, where you don't get close positions, it's very difficult for zerg to win in those positions. -show selected race for each player in the list of potential players. This will help players decide if they want to play or not based off what race the player with the highest score (opponent) is. -add total minerals and total gas mined statistic — I've found this to be such a useful piece of information but it's never included in post-game stats or observation info. -add build order recorder (this would be a lot of work, but I'm sure a million people would think it's useful. Could maybe get direct code form the YABOT map or whatever) -add zoom-in/zoom-out feature and camera rotation

The game shows in the end the total minerals and gas income rate (average). That basically tells how much minerals you were gathering. And about the build order, that would require a lot of work and there's not that much space. The zoom in zoom out thing is something I'm thinking about how to add.

would like to point out, the Terminus RE being used is very old... it is like the first released version with the golds
the newest one by now is Terminus SE, and before that there was Terminus RE without golds (and maybe other small changes)
thanks for the icjug maps, but i do not understand why the players have star ratings. Rather, I do not agree with having star ratings unless you expect everyone to play their best and play to win rather than have fun and mess around sometimes.
|
Thanks for making these Rodrigo they are a lot of fun and good practice.
This has probably already been said, but when you have allied colors on both players appear the same color on the mini map.

Getting admins is a proof of hard work... still, it has rather impressive drawbacks... (bet you didn't think you'd have to "police" your "own" that much hmmm?)
Having to type the "GG" seems ludicrous to me, but who am i to judge...
That said, thanks again for all your great contributions Mr Alves.

That terminus was the only one I could find. It would be good if the GSL could send me the new Terminus for me to publish an ICJug on it.
The stars represent how good a player are, and they are useful to make players with similar skills be picked to play together. As I said, stars increase your starting priority.
Stars = winning rate. More you play, more score you get, more stars you can get. The easiest way to have 5 stars is having 90 points, 25 games played, and 80% victory. You can see this data when you move the mouse over the player's name on the leaderboard.
But dont worry too much about stars. And besides, you can reset your score by deleting the icjug bank file on your computer. (something like llllIIII.sc2banks on the banks folder in your account folder in the starcraft II folder in the documents folder).

Ah, thank you for the reply
Yeah I forgot that you would need someone to send you the Terminus file, so nevermind.
Oh, didn't know you could do that. I thought if you delete the bank files then all your bank files will be gone. So I can just delete my Icjug bank file then? :D Or even, I could have 1 for fun and 1 for serious rating right? And switch the files when I want to before starting SC2?

yeah xapti, that vote to kick you was an accident. and you're right, i didn't have admin. I was trying to vote kick that same guy you were cause we wanted to play and hit the wrong number. and a bunch of people who were trying icjug for the first time and had no idea what the -kick # thing did so they all typed what i typed to see what would happen.

That basically tells how much minerals you were gathering.. yeah but it doesn't tell you the average (or total mined, obviously doesn't matter which) during the game, which in my opinion is important due to fluctuations during the game. It also doesn't distinguish minerals mined from gas mined, although I don't think that's as big of an issue as let's say starcraft 1

About space, would it really take up much space? I bet it takes up less space for all the code than a loading screen.

Yes, you can do that.

iCJug update
iCJug Shakuras Plateau: -To copy MLG style, now the players can't spawn both on the left side or both on the right side.

The TSL/MLG style maps in that sense were for metalopolis and shattered temple, which are also bigger problems close position than Shakuras in the first place (which makes me wonder what is with Blizzard)
Shakuras plateau was always left side vs right side (separated by Xelnaga towers). What MLG did is made it cross/diagonal/farthest-position ONLY, so players know exactly where their opponent spawns.
So considering you are adding this for Shakuras, I suppose the change to Shattered temple and Metalopolis are on their way?
|
I think this will reduce the number of possible strategies due to the limitations of start positions, but what other people think?
Should close positions not be allowed in Shattered Temple and Metalopolis?
|
|
My opinion is in favor of denying close positions. (as you probably already know)
Maps don't decide the number of strategies, they decide the effectiveness of the strategies. The problems are numerous, one of which is it introduces a greater random factor to the game, which makes it more a game of rock-paper-scissors, than a game of chess.
Maps make certain strategies stronger or less strong, and when a strong (or imbalanced to being with) strategy is used on a map which bolsters a strong strategy, it can become an imbalanced (or undefeatable) strategy.
Maps like steppes of war were removed because of issues like this... having a map where it's 33% chance of rolling steppes of war makes no sense — it doesn't increase the number of strategies, it increases the number of imbalanced matches.
