Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking.
This mafia game works slightly different than the normal one (read: Mafia), so I'll explain it a bit more. During the night mafia will collectively decide on and send in their hits to me, who they want dead (it's a good idea to discuss them during day so you know ahead of time). Any player with a special role that can act during the night must PM me their actions each and every night.
If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win the game. The goal for the townspeople is to lynch all the members of the mafia by whatever analysis, teamwork, or guile they have. The goal of the mafia, of course, is to kill the townspeople with murderous precision.
The game is typically very active and there are usually numerous walls of text to wade through. If you are not a person who likes reading then I highly suggest you don't play the game because it is essential to being informed within the game. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules: (subject to change)
Posting Etiquette:
I will not modkill for flaming unless it is VERY warranted (racial slurs, homophobia, etc.), but please be respectful of each other. Accuse each other of scumminess, but do not attack each other personally. It's just not cool, bros.
Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to) the following and will get you banned from future games:
1. Posting after death. You may have one goodbye post, but it may not contain any potential game-changing information.
2. Betraying your role and ruining the game for everyone by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account / checking their PMs / looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles.
5. Posting screenshots of your inbox. This is not a photoshop competition.
6. Posting any PM you receive from a host.
7. Editing posts. Editing posts is not allowed for any reason. The mods can see your edits, and if you are caught, you will look suspicious. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be owned. Please do not edit; this is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything.
Voting rules:
1. Voting is done in a separate thread, located here. Please keep votes there, and only votes. The third post of this thread will contain the vote count.
2. Please vote in the following format, to make it easier for everyone to read: ##Vote Qatol. While the bolding in itself is not necessarily needed, it makes it easier on everybody's eyes. Please bold. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update votes whenever I get the chance.
3. You cannot autochange your vote to the losing or winning bandwagon.
4. You may vote for yourself if you're crazy. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game.
5. In the event of a tie the person with the most votes first wins over the other person.
6. Voting is mandatory. You may abstain.
7. If you miss a vote or fail to post during one day cycle, you will be modkilled.
The voting cycle will be the TL standard 48 hour days, 24 hour nights. The cycles will end/begin at 8 PM EST.
PMs:
PMs are allowed this game.
Modkills:
Inactivity has been a problem in every mafia game so far. Inactivity is most easily defined as failure to vote. If you do miss a vote, you will be modkilled. Special consideration will be exercised if a player in danger of being modkilled by this manner has been an active contributor in the thread. If something comes up and you know you will miss the vote, PM me in advance about it to let me know and you will be spared. Remember again: abstaining votes are NOT allowed. And once again, flaming is not tolerated. Keep it civil, or else you will receive a visit from an angry cobbler. Furthermore, you must post at least once in this thread every day and night cycle to avoid being modkilled. Simply voting doesn't work. This is to prevent lurkers.
Anyone who is modkilled may not play in one of my games until they have proven themselves to be active players in another game. I am hoping I never have to modkill anyone. I enjoy modkills, please, let me use bears (Yes, I modkill with bears. Deal with it.) Please remain active so I do not have to. However, do not just simply spam one-liners or worthless posts. Strategic modkills are NOT allowed, either. A strategic modkill is defined as anything that will better the position of your team. You cannot threaten with the words "well if you kill X and he's not mafia I'll get myself modkilled" or anything in that vein. Essentially, you maynot use your non-majority-decided death as a bargaining chip. If you do happen to be modkilled, you will be put on Qatol's ban list, and cannot play in an "official" game till you have served your sentence.
Signups:
Signups are open starting now. Signups will remain open until the maximum of 30 people have signed up. Anyone is welcome to sign up, regardless of skill level. Before you sign up, though ask yourself if you are ready for the time commitment – there will be no warnings, just modkills. If you can be active, though, join us! We don't care if it's your first mafia game ever, we are welcoming people.
Clues:
There are no clues in this game.
Time Cycle:
This game will follow a strict 48/24 hour day/night cycle. During the day, voting will be open in a separate thread, and some roles with secret day actions will need to PM me their day actions. During the night, all roles with night actions will need to PM those to me.

Thanks to anybody who's ever hosted a game.
The balance crew (you know who you are) for helping to make this setup reasonably balanced.
If you have not read all the rules, please go back and do so.
Roles:
This is a semi-open setup. Roles will be disclosed, but role counts will remain hidden. Read this section carefully, as it may be subject to change. Also, please not that I may or may not have used all the roles listed in this game.
Townie - You are just a normal player. Your goal, with the special roles of the town, is to help bring the Witches to justice. You get no special powers but the ability to vote during day. You may or may not start the game cursed. A cursed townie will know he has been cursed. If a cursed townie dies, the curse will move to another person.
Witch Hunter - You may, during the game, ask for the role of a specific player at night. You will get back their role/alignment unless they are the miller/godfather.
Healer - You have the ability to prevent one hit on a player of your choice during the night. You must notify me of the player you wish to choose anytime during the day. You can only stop one hit and as such if the number of witches is greater than the number of medics on a player then that player will die. You will not know if you saved the person. The person will not know if he was saved. The town will know nothing of the event. You may not self protect. You do not protect victims from mad hatters.
Mad Hatter - You have 2 bombs to place. You may only place one per night. You may choose to move your bombs from player a to player b. You may not have two bombs on the same person. If you are lynched, or killed during the night, your bombs explode. If someone kills one of your targeted players during the night, you regain that bomb, but if they are lynched, you lose that bomb.
The hardened soldier
You have fought the witches before and survived. As such it takes them two attacks to kill you.
Paranoid Villager
You are extremely paranoid that the witches are coming to kill you. As such you decided to take the initiative and have armed yourself. Once during the game, after night 2, you can set fire to someones home killing the occupant.
_________
Miller - The miller is an outsider to the town. He is just like a regular townie except that when a Witch Hunter role checks him he will show up as being a Witch. He has no special abilities and will not know of his role.
The Witches:
Witch - Your goal is to eliminate everyone else in the town. Your ability, as a group, is killing off whomever you decide on at night and knowing the role of each other player in the mafia. You may not kill other witches. Witch killing power is 2 until there are less than 2 witches.
The Elder - The Elder has the ability to decide what role he will appear to be when a witch hunter role checks him. It must be any role, but must be chosen day one, or he will default to townie role. After your role is chosen, you may not change it after that. The elder had 1 kp on his own. The elder is chosen by the witches.
And Lastly
Chaos Ensuant
You are a townie who is tired of the injustice towards the witches. You have no abilities but you want the witches to exterminate the town. You do not know who the witches are, and the witches do not know who you are. You do not affect the Mafia's KP. If the witches win the game, you win as well. You show up as Towny for all Rolechecks. You count towards the mafia # for outnumbering town.
All role counts in this game are hidden.
