Hey guys, I am new to the Starcraft community (like many others who have flooded the scene of recent I am sure) and I played the beta for a few months before it went on hiatus.

While the beta was up I played as Terran, but I am rethinking if it is for me. Maybe some of you have specific reasons you choose your race that would help me better decide the right race for myself.

Why did you pick the race that you play? What is your favorite thing about that race?

Zerg here - Most people just pick a race because they think they are the best (even though there is no best race), if you are terran now and like the way they work then stay with them. If you dont like them try protoss or zerg and so on till you find a good match.

Yeah I saw that, but it really wasn't getting to the question I was asking in my opinion. It seemed like it was more based on trying to calculate the percentages of each race as opposed to the reason why they choose it (even though lower in the post he mentions the why). Sorry if it seemed redundant.

Zerg: I chose it in the beginning because I loved the uniqueness of its macromechanics.

Now, I just play it because im best at it. Once the micro/macro 2 tournament ends/I am defeated, I will focus on playing random.

Well, i am also pretty new to starcraft generally.

I decided to play Protoss because it's the easiest race in terms of micromanagement :D
I think i'll stay with protoss til i have an general overview of the game and better micro/macro

lol, stayed zerg because of jaedong. Started playing them because of the fast expands, 3rd base by 30 ftw (in sc:bw at least)

Missing a lot of the things that made zerg, zerg.

Protoss from BW cus I dunno chose it when i was like 14 cus it was cool or some awesome reason.

SC2 carried on toss just because. But now playing zerg too because the swarming and feel of zerg is great. At least as good as BW, in terms of really swarming. Terran still feels rigid to me.

I used to play to zerg in SC1 , but in SC2 i feel the zerg has lost a lot of their characteristics so i play terran in the beta because they are more versatile and have a big range of strategies in their arsenal . Frankly zerg has less units and feels like an incomplete race compared to the other 2 or i would be playing only zerg .

Zerg, being new to RTS, because it seems to be the easiest race to learn... You can change your composition very easily, you dont have to manage a ton of production facilities, and you quickly learn how positioning means everything... your units are paper.

Protoss because they focus on 1) few, individually powerful units (something I'm a fan of) and 2) have a variety of powerful spells, which I love to use.
