Well, Nintendo's E3 has brought us the first Legend of Zelda game solely based on the Wii platform. I for one am excited as hell - finally, I get to ACTUALLY role-play as Link! Skyward Sword seems to have a more vibrant color scheme compared to Twilight Princess, somewhat similar to that of the Windwaker.

Also, an awesome sounding name usually means good things

I think the idea has a lot of potential, but I noticed in the video that Miyamoto seemed to have some trouble getting the game to sense exactly which type of slice he wanted to use. In particular, having played Twilight Princess for Wii, I feel that the nunchuk's accelerometer isn't very precise at all. Hopefully, that kind of barrier doesn't become an obstacle to enjoying the game.

This exactly.

Hopefully there will be another way of controlling direction of slashes. Even with the WiiMotion+, the "1:1" motion detection wasn't cutting it at all.

I would think that there would be preset slash angles / directions, and the game just picks the one closest to whatever you did. But yeah, I can see this being a potential problem :/

Just make it like Twilight Princess again.
unless there is puzzles involved, why does it matter what direction i slash the mushroom / flower / crab?

The accelerometers are actually very reliable, but programming around their input is a bitch.

It's the IR system on the Wii that is less than awesome. More sophisticated positioning systems have hit the market since the Wii-mote was conceived.

It's just console games progressing into virtual reality. They like to make us think we're actually awesome, because then we buy more of those kinds of games :D

I'm so excited for another Zelda game. It's been 4 years since Twilight Princess so it's about time! But the graphics still look shitty and I know that they can't do much on the Wii. Hopefully the motion controls will be better.

From the IGN E3 LoZ article:

Keep in mind that Nintendo had a pretty dreadful live demo at its press conference, so anyone watching might be concerned that the game might not work as advertised. Watching that demo first hand I can tell you exactly why Miyamoto was having a problem: Wii Motion Plus can use the infrared sensor bar to recalibrate itself, and with the audience filled with devices emitting infrared, it was throwing off the device something fierce. I had the same problem when trying to play Wii Sports Resort last year in our video studio: infrared pollution.

Slightly disappointed by the cel-shaded graphics, but I hope the story is as compelling as Wind Waker's. Wind Waker had the best ending of all Zelda games, not to mention Ganon was actually interesting in that game.

i hope it doesn't have some annoying mechanic like seat travel which takes like 24 hours of your life! :D

idc are cel-shading zelda to me has always been about being an puzzle, adventure game. Not a wii motion plus game which it heavily uses T_T i wanna lay on my bed half awake playing zelda not sitting up omg!

o.o it looks awesome. Definitely a step toward what I imagine as the ideal game, where what you do physically corresponds with what you do in the game.

I'm not gonna base the game on the hilariously terrible stage demo. I agree that there was probably some bigtime interference going on in the room, plus there's gotta be some sort of delay putting the picture on the big screen. Nintendo rarely disappoints with their big names, so I'm expecting another big hit. Was twilight princess really four years ago? where has the time gone...
