Even though I've played really horribly this game, I still feel like I've learned much more from this game than any other, mostly because of the bootcamp. I'd greatly like to thank: Ver,Incognito,BC,Flamewheel,Qatol,and especially Foolishness. If there was anyone else I'm sorry I forgot. Thanks for the explanation. This was actually one of the many problems I had this game. In this game it seemed the mafia were more active than the town, or at least more contributive. -.- | ||

I don't really think any DT would have claimed the way he did (claiming checked DrH Night 1 immediately felt suspicious to me) but tbh we didn't have many blue reads; those we thought were blue we killed anyway. Pandain's IRC use during Day 2 was pretty powerful against mafia, but RoL's analysis in the following night was MUCH scarier as mafia. It's why we killed him then. Overall I don't actually feel that good about this game, because I just kept thinking of suspicious activity I'd notice as a townie and feel at a loss for words when it came to contributing in most mafia-favored way possible. Why's flipflop on Day 2 was HUGE, was surprised no one called him on that until late. With that kind of discussion paralysis going on in my head, plus the fact that we had only 5 mafia this game (KP formula was (Mafia + 1)/2 rounded up) I had a lot of trouble playing actively after we lost annul/tevo and felt that it was better just to lurk and ignore when people called me out. I mean, I guess we won but that kind of play isn't very fun overall. The other thing that hurt mafia the most during this game was lack of communication/inactivity. I didn't really have a good idea of how we were coordinating ourselves until the town lynched annul, and only then did why/brocket/me get in contact with each other to try and see how to continue the game. I think if we'd talked more frequently from the beginning we wouldn't have had as much trouble with inactivity, at least on the mafia side. | ||

why (RB), Brocket (Framer), and d3_crescentia, annul (GF), and Tevo were Mafia. As we already know, LSB, RebirthOfLeGenD, and Insanious were Veterans. ~OpZ~ was our Mafia Vigilante. Everybody else was a townie. So what was the purpose of this game? | ||

So I have a question to post to everyone: Who is more suspicious: 1.Those who don't contribute. 2.Those who try to contribute but are just really really bad at it. 3.Those who try to contribute but it doesn't really say much. Cause all 3 look suspicious to me. Obviously now in retrospective it seems #3 is the obvious choice, but at the time, was there anything distinguishing why/d3 from the others? Mafia is not a game you can pick up and play. You need to stay focused on it until you're removed from the game. If you decide you don't want to play midway through, your options range from getting lynched to getting replaced to even getting modkilled. All of these are instances of you letting your team down, and rest assured everyone else playing doesn't appreciate it. Many people have tried to recover from burnout phases with a "nice easy game of Mafia" and found that it didn't work out. Mafia is a competitive game, albeit unique in that players are not directly competing with each other individually. Playing to win is central to the game. On the Town's side, making light unrelated conversation with the other players, even if you like them outside the game, doesn't help the cause if it drags on for very long (especially since you may need to lynch them later). On the Mafia's side, it has been suggested that night-kills be tailored to keeping enjoyable players alive instead of making kills that will make it more likely that they will win. If that Mafia then loses, then it will come out that they essentially lost on purpose - and no victorious Town wants to hear that. The bottom line is, Mafia is not for everyone. It's nothing personal if you don't like what you just read, but everyone will probably be happier if you stayed on the sidelines. Note that this is NOT saying that Mafia shouldn't be fun. For Mafia, the fun comes more from the competition than the social aspects. You're more than welcome to talk to the players after the game and go from there. Sorry guys, I let a lot of people down. It's my 2nd game of mafia and I got townie twice in a row. I know townie can be fun as well but the inactivity of all the other townies as well gave me a very boring atmosphere especially when even the mafias were lurking. I guess I'll try to change my play the next game I am in and see what I can do. | ||
