I mean, yea, the value of the mana on paper is really high, but we don't care THAT much about our mana item's gold efficiency and it's mostly because the mana is just a bonus. on everyone that wants manamune, the main concern, at least in my experience, is "WILL THIS ITEM BE AN EFFICIENT ENOUGH SOURCE OF AD FOR THE COST?" the answer simply is that it does not immediately give you the benefit of a BF Sword, but unless you're upgrading the BF Sword to something else, Manamune scales better and has this sweet little passive that says, "UNIQUE: STOP GIVING A FUCK ABOUT MANA".
but right anyway, the larger point I was trying to make was that manamune has gone from just a little too efficient, to a properly priced item that fills a very specialized niche perfectly. If you're building an IE, yea, screw it. If you're like me and are a sucker for Triforce on Corki, Manamune is actually a very strong way to solidify your mid-game both by keeping your damage reasonably high and allowing you to go nuts on ability usage to make up for the oppurtunity cost of other things that could've increased your auto-attack damage output. Then as you build Triforce and Banshee's Veil, the efficiency goes through the roof and you're suddenly looking at Manamune as a +80 AD item that you bought way back when for 2K gold.

hey! some1 else who goes lwhisper on corki!
in any case, i was confused by the 'zomg manamune so good on corki' thing since when i play corki i rarely, if ever, have mana problems. u ppl just need to stop spamming stuff willy nilly :o

I haven't played this game for a while now...but Corki is played best when he rushes Trinity Force- because he can proc. sheen so often. I guess manamune could work well, but I'm wondering where it would fit in his build.
Edit: Mogwai too fast.

Corki farms faster when he spams stuff willy nilly. A farmed Corki is a good Corki.
Why stop yourself from being a good Corki?

Ah that makes sense then, because going triforce you have the 'little parts -> upgrade' build going on, so the sense of delay isn't there like it is when you drop 2k on manamune then have to refarm 2k for a BF. I like triforce as a backup plan for sub-par farm/game on Corki, because unlike other champs who are kind of pigeon holed into stacking dblades to catch up, he can use the Sheen to create some quick burst(and actually use it very effectively), and build up from there pretty well. I might try MM->Triforce out a bit(I was thinking in the vacuum of IE+LW, and fitting it into that build would take like 40 minutes, or insane fed status).

Pfft, like I have problems in the farm department... I suppose that could be solid advice for people that do though.

Eh, you can farm fine with just Gatling gun. I've seen Corkis that faceroll QER on a two wave creep bunch. I mean really? That extra 2-3 seconds saved you think is cost efficient? lol

Anybody going to play this dota 2 thang? Personally I think it's going to effect HoN more than LoL seeing as this game's free and not a 100% dota clone.

all i can say to those ppl, is l2last hit. Its really not that hard, and you have to do it for the first 20 mins or so for any ranged carry anyways, why is corki an exception?
edit: i can see the need for manamune on a triforce corki to proc the extra dmg more often, but i prefer stacking bf items on corki, so manamune simply doesnt cut it

i think it will depend on if the game is functional and playable and balanced like dota was BUT assuming it has all the qualities that dota had, just on a faster engine with matchmaking and other "meta-" features, it's safe to say that all competitive players will be moving to DotA. not to diminish the fun factor of LoL or take away from it being a great game (which has sucked up countless hours of my time), but there's so many key factors that RIOT forgot to put into LoL that dota had. HoN is dead in the water as far as I'm concerned, but who plays HoN anyways *lol*

Sign me up for DotA 2. A 100% DotA clone with dedicated servers/matchmaking is all I've ever really wanted. Valve being behind it all is a massive plus.
then they'll give us the DotA 2 SDK... ahhh yeah

for me, the bigger thing is that by clearing a whole creep wave in 0 seconds with abilities, I buy myself some time to go MIA and take red buff/gank.
and as for lw + IE on Corki, I actually preferred BC + Starks anyway when I was trying everything out on him, lol (still like MM -> triforce the best anyway). if they stand in full GG, you can literally chop their armor by 130 between GG, Stark's Aura and BC, and good lord do people with negative armor drop fast. I mean, GG shreds 50 armor, so until they're packing like 130 armor you get more penetration from starks anyway with armor pen runes.

dota2 is def gonna screw over hon a looot more than lol. Tbh, i will probably move to dota2 as well, but we got another year to think about that dont we

I will probably casually play invoker in DotA 2 to keep up with my friends who will migrate to it (and also get my invoker fix, damn I loved that dude), but I intend to keep my competitive self devoted to LoL. We'll see what comes of it though.

On one hand, a true dota clone on updated technology sounds awesome. On the other hand, I hope (and Valve has an AMAZING track record of this) that with continued updates of the games, they use said new technology to bring some new spice to it(most notably, and somewhat touched on in the article, some heroes/skills are limited through the engine, expanding on that would be fantastic).

And I hate whenever I die for being oom. I am somewhat confused, if you dont gear any mana at all for corki - you die too fast in teamfights and in that case ur doing it wrong. Blue buff will allmost certainly find better uses than corki.
Also I need you guys opinion on the cleaver vs IE on corki - yep I use it even with LW vs really tanky setups, and when that happends I will simply tear through anything doesnt matter much.
@ mog, last time I went triforce on corki I epicfailed, maybe I should build manamune in but imo it only delays your cleaver that much which is pretty much my 3rd big item allways.

I'm really starting to think Malph is one of the more underrated champions out there. Been playing with him for quite a few levels now and have had only 2 games with sub- even KDR.
|
wut, since when does not 'gearing for mana' = 'you die too fast in teamfights'. in any case, i do get veil after my i.e. anyways, so im not exactly starved for mana.
edit: @ brownbear, malph is, and always has been, an awesome anti-physical-dps hero, he just wasnt 'good' kus physical dps heroes havnt been popular until recently.
