Right now, TvT is the only match-up where MVP can be beaten. Bomber, Ryung, MMA seem like the best candidates to take him down, can't wait! I actually WANT to see this TvT. | ||

That was an epic high level late game TvT with awesome strats and decision making from both sides. It was exciting the whole way through. | ||

I want to say that if that game was the future of TvT like artosis said it was, then it is a sad, sad future for gomtvt the only late game engagement before the final battle was them sending mules at each other clide vs mvp was amazing though, stayed awake through the group, even though it was like 6 am | ||

He got popular from very cool stuff like marine splits vs baneling, etc, etc, etc. I get why he got popular. I didn't enjoy his play back in those days nearly as much as some because I felt it was gimmicky but I still enjoyed it a lot. What I don't get is why he still has as many fans as he does. The game has changed a lot and yet these days he still does a lot of things that are quite boring. No one enjoys 2 rax allins or 1/1/1s, etc. It has been a long time since he has shown enjoyable play. So many gimmicks, so many boring cheeses and base trades, etc. I just do not find his style enjoyable at all. I feel if he didn't have the famous past and showed up just 1 GSL ago people would not be into him at all. I'm getting pretty lazy to continue this discussion so i'm just gonna quote some examples in my counter argument, and I might draw some wrath about quoting this example to put out another point (as this comparison is going to be total night and day), but what about Boxer? He looked amazing back in Season 2 until he hit the brick wall that is named Nestea, did okay for a few seasons then totally fell off the map. Yet the crowd cheer for him at MLG is louder than any other I heard before (at least from what i can tell from the videos). How about Jinro? Legendary swedish player who had it to the ro4 twice in a row, practically declared one of the best foreigner terrans for a while then as fast as he rose to the top, he fell from code S then out of the GSL totally, and looked uninspired at it too. Yet we still love him, cheer for him, waiting for the day he shows us the strength and the command he once showed us back in December/January. Granted, the circumstances of these players are a little different to MKP and that they deserve their fans and support but imagine we disregard a players past and only look at their current/most recent results. Boxer? Who is he? He's a mediocore terran who only recently scored 3rd place at MLG because foreigners weren't good enough. Why should we have invited him in the AoL? Should have invited better players there. And another reinvite for MLG Orlando? Pftt, he had his chance, should've invited someone new. Jinro? He's a has been, a relic of the past, now only getting as far as the group stages or the first round after the group stages in any overseas tournament packed full of foreigners (not even koreans mind you...). God these people/failures in SC2 who don't even show results in the last few months don't deserve our respect, our love for them. I didn't watch broodwar so disclaimer warning on whatever I said about boxer as my admiration and respect for him only stems from his hype and reputation, but my point still stands. It is rather short-sighted to only view the present as to who deserves our love and respect and forget whatever they have done in the past. A better question would be then (a question alot of people love to use when questioning the loyalty of a fan): If you are only a fan of a player for as long as his play/his results are applicable in the present time, were you a fan of that player in the first place? Shouldnt we as fans support the players we love and respect through his up and downs? His hard times and his achievements? If we base on what you said earlier then why isnt the MVP fanbase somewhere along the lines of "omfg he's bonjwa he's the best fucking terran in the world we should all be a fan of that guy"?, why doesnt he have the biggest fanclub in the world? Why does idra, who recently all it seems he does is put up hissy fits, losing games against a newcomer trimaster still commands a legion of fans? - (no disrespect to MVP here, he really is the best terran in the world atm, too early to be called Bonjwa though, and of course, idra, we love him for who he is) Why doesn't MKP, who captured our hearts with his ground breaking marine micro and bio style play way back in season 2, still deserves to hold our hopes and dreams for him to once again rise up to his former glory and finally for once, get that championship that has eluded him thus far? | ||
