Hi, I've heard others requesting that the instant Twitch VOD availability be enabled for TSL+ subscribers, and I would like to "formally" request this as well.
It would certainly make a HUGE difference, since waiting 12-16 hours for the VODs to go up to YouTube is pretty good but it's nowhere compared to being able to get access to the Twitch VODs immediately after the broadcast has ended.
Not only that, but I've noticed that the YouTube videos only cover the start and end of the match, and cut off almost IMMEDIATELY after the "GG" is called. This means that if I'm not tuning in live, I can't come very close to getting the full broadcast, immersive experience of watching the TSL.
In short, can you please enable the Twitch.tv VODs for TSL+ subscribers? I assume it would take zero development work (since it's a feature already provided by Twitch).
Not only that, but I find it strange and off-putting that TSL+ subscribers have to wait just the same as non-subscribers for the YouTube VODs (which only carry a portion of the broadcast, as well).
Wouldn't Team Liquid want to reward and encourage their paying TSL+ subscribers with the best treatment possible?
Thanks!

We can look into this, I'll bug R1CH about it and see what we can do. No promises!
EDIT: Check with R1CH, at the moment this isn't possible but it might be down the line. Don't hold your breath though.

Youtube has no anti-spoiler?

I completely agree and would love to be able to watch the whole broadcast. I have no possibility of watching it while being broadcast, and were hoping for more content in the youtube videos...
I suppose there are some kind of post-game analysis by the casters after the games ends? If there is, is there any reason why it isn't included in the youtube videos? I also wonder if they really have to end so abrupt after the gg (even mid-sentence).
Anyway, would love to be able to watch the whole broadcast VODs on Twitch, either for everyone or just for TSL+ subscribers.
Other than that, this looks to be an awesome tournament!

Well the only problem with that is that it doesn't auto play the next game(unless I am missing something). I'm not always right near the keyboard to click on the next game. I don't really care about spoilers so what I have been doing is making a youtube playlist with all the games from one broadcast and just letting that run. Only thing I miss is the between game analysis. If you have videos for the post and pregame and then put them into a youtube playlist with the games, wouldn't that essentially be the same thing as the twitch VOD?

Which would be great, if the embedded videos there wouldn't randomly slide out of place cutting off a third of the video screen (not on all the videos, but several times nonetheless).
Edit: I echo the sentiment of the extended VODs to include the post and pre-game analysis as well, it's always interesting to hear the casters discuss the games, that's in fact one of the reasons I like to tune in the first place.

Having the same problem as the guy above me, I'm pretty sure it occurs whenever the advertisement pops up (a world of tanks one for me usually). As soon as the ad pops, I lose a third of the screen and can't get it back without exiting and restarting the video. Really making watching TSL spoiler-free hard!

I would like to have the pre and post game analysis included in the game as well, and if possible an annotation with the starting time of the game on the vod.

Yes, the TSL3 Youtube videos last year included the post-game analysis and any pre-game discussion for the next game in the series. It made for a much more complete experience. I see no reason not to include this. If you don't want to listen to it, you simply go to the next match.

I think this is an error associated with the World of Tanks advertisement specifically. I haven't gotten it with the TSL because I've got TSL+ and don't see the ads, but I have exactly the error you describe when I watch GSL VODs and the World of Tanks ad comes up.

I would like to request the VODs as well, as I am not able to watch TSL live because it's too early in the morning or when i am at work in my timezone. The youtube vids are nice, but as stated above, does not include the pre and post commentaries by the casters.

Was definitely upset when I the vods were cutting off, TSL+ subscribers should be able to watch the whole broadcast in my opinion. Thanks for the post OP was thinking the same thing the other night, and thanks to Plexa for looking into it. Overall great tournament so far. Cheers

That's a bug with the World of Tanks ad, which has been around for a LONG time, and for some reason, Google refuse to pull it.
Solution: Adblock Youtube, (and youtube only). Money speaks louder than words, and it also circumvents the problem.

Not to add anything overly illuminating, but it really would be great if the VODs were a little more instant and included some of the pre- and post- game discussion.
It's just timing on my end that I cannot watch at the same time as the broadcast but still want to view the matches same-day. I imagine some people want just the games and others the whole TSL experience. Why not cater to both?
|
I would like to echo the pre/post game commentary to be included. At the very least adjust the cut off of the VODS so that it isn't mid word. Great first couple of days though!

While I have thoroughly enjoyed the actual games and casting, the experience is somewhat disappointing because there is no pre and post game analysis in the VODs. Having paid for the TSL+ I thought I'd be able to watch that as well. Without that it just feels like I'm watching a random assortment of games on youtube. The VOD format in TSL3 was fantasitc - best tournament ever. TSL4 isn't there (yet) in my opinion.
I would love to watch it live but I work during those times and have to wait for the VODs. I paid $10 and would gladly pay more if I could just watch the whole thing via VODs.
The fact the each video is cut off so quickly , often before the second "G" in GG, just makes it more obvious that I'm missing commentary.

The reason the VODs cut where they do is because there is no screen content after the game - the VODs are quite literally recording the observer's screen - if we cut the VODs any later then you'd be seeing the observer close the replay and show everything being setup for the next set of games which include spoilers in the number of replays, game length, etc. We experimented with recording the output of the broadcast for VODs but it proved to be unreliable and bad quality due to issues with xsplit's projector feature.
We'll look into what we can do to enable a better VOD experience, whether it's enabling the twitch VOD archives or improving how we record VODs locally.

Yes please, I am from Europe so I cannot watch full day's games in the evening, so i prefer to watch it in the morning, and in youtube i sometimes get spoiled

There is something about the vid quality (at least for TSL+) that is just plain better on Twitch... Is it a frame rate thing? I really dont get why I feel like the twitch vids are better quality than the youtube but I can def see it.
On another note, It is sad when say I am watching keen vs welmu and when I go to game 2 they are talking about seeing if they are right about what they predicted and I will never know what they predicted.
All that being said, I am only adding these items to this thread because I love TL and love TSL4 and want to provide my thoughts on the only thing that bothers me about the tournament as an esports product because I want TL to do well!
