That makes sense; I was confused why people were getting perm'd over it so easily

baller was just temp banned for 2 days by Aesop.
That account was created on 2006-03-21 15:40:44 and had 496 posts.
Reason: You used to be funny, but your post quality is degrading. Time to take a break?
woahhhhhhhhh, though, looking at his post that got him banned, I can see why lol.

Hilarious and amazing moderating.
It's funny because the problem existed before SC2 but the new members seem to be worse. I'm just going to throw a link to my blog here.

I love the new way of closing threads, just copy paste that on to all the bad threads haha
|
Yeah Plexa has started using that. I bet R1CH could program a bot to autoban noobs based on those guidelines

That post is actually fairly comprehensive in explaining why threads are closed, and hopefully they learn something from it. It's not something I would use on veterans (who surprisingly don't usually make shitty threads) but for noobs it's educational and saves me getting angry PMs.

I think that kennigit used to use it as well...
Regardless, I think that R1CH could use that and use it to close any sc2 strategy OP without a replay, any OP less than 100 words/10 lines...

Haha, there goes baller for 2 days. :D

If you can get it to work off GOM, then why depend on a restream? This isn't like season 1 when their streams were down to 75% of viewers. Now everyone can get on. HQ stream has been unwatchable for most of S2 and S3 due to lag for me, in fact anyone in Australia or certain parts of Europe will probably tell you the same. I pay for the service because I like the VODs, however I watch a restream of the HQ instead of the LQ stream since I've paid for HQ anyway and I feel I should be entitled to it. They are aware of the problem, and will fix it asap. Hopefully, before the finals. I'm in the same case tbh.
Concerning the stream problem, there is a LOT of solution, including : 1. Looking for how to get your vlc link for your GOM account : http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/search.php?q=vlc 2. I'm pretty sure that some of the restreamers will still do their job (If they didn't do this for the e-fame. Will see). Sure, it will be harder for the lazy visitor to type ustream.tv or livestream.com then "gsl" at the hour of the show, but, come on, everybody knows that TL would come to ban restreamers account. It was good for the GSL to promote the stream, now that everyone is aware of the quality of the show / matches, there is no reason to avoid buying a season ticket if you're interrested in.

Out of curiosity, were the GSL re-streamers warned to shut down before they were banned? I just have this image in my head of someone thinking he's helping the community only to find out he's actually breaking the law.

I've noticed that too and really wanted to talk about it, but there's no closed thread version of this thread (there's a "why did you close my thread?" thread, but that's different). I like perusing the closed threads and reading the reasons as much as I like looking through the ban list.
Anyway, what I wanted to say was that although it makes things more efficient it makes it less entertaining for me. I really like personalized messages from mods when someone does something stupid.

I mentioned that in the "Ask TL Staff Anything" thread. Plexa said that he's using it for a few reasons: he's getting tired of PMs asking "WTF Y U CLOZE THRED D00D", he's trying to set an example for newer posters concerning thread creation etiquette, and, as you said, it's more efficient. However, he did say that this streamlined process will only apply to new users, and that veterans wil still get personalized messages for closed topics. I've also only seen Kennigit and Plexa do this, so we'll still get JWD's dancing fruit and iNcontroL's verbal abuse.

Sort of ironic that a page or two back is a massive discussion about that thread, yet you didn't learn to check and read... despite posting about that thread.

I'm going to be willing to take a guess and its probably something related to the TL Minecraft Server which has the stipulation of "no griefing."

I guess he did something stupid in the Minecraft server. Tried looking through the Minecraft server thread, but couldn't dig up anything.
Ksyper was just temp banned for 2 days by Jibba. That account was created on 2010-05-10 05:40:56 and had 258 posts. Reason: A day later, the honey works just as well. That's because honey takes a long time to go bad since it's a natural preservative. Even though it seems Liquid-y, there's actually very little water in it and the thickness of the honey creates a 'viscous barrier', which slows down penetration from bacteria. The more you know! + Show Spoiler +You were banned for posting before fully reading the OP.
I'm more curious about the reasoning behind this little tidbit. I thought his post would mention honey, but it doesn't. "A day later, the honey works just as well" made me think that he was asking about uses for honey, or something, in an unrelated thread.

Wow look away from this thread for a couple hours and there's two new pages :S

Prolly an attempt to spoof Kysper's inability to read the OP. If one only read the part about the honey in the ban, and not the spoilered part, they'd have no idea what Jibba's actual message was.
Just like all those saps who got banned in the APM thread.
