On the 21th I made a thread on r/starcraft suggesting that someone should take advantage of a web browser mod for Minecraft, and host a Barcraft inside the game. The original post. Thanks to many dedicated people, we managed to build an arena for this virtual event. A special thanks to iMarineTV who ran the first server himself. Below are 6 steps on how to properly connect to the server with all the mods working. We hope to see you at our virtual Barcraft!
Setup Note, Do not skip any steps, it may screw things up if you do. Also, you must be using windows to use the minecraft mods, they will not work on Mac, or Linux 1. Install Flash Download from here: Flash. Select Flash Player 11 for other browsers
2. Install Java Download using this link: Java. This will install the 32 bit version of java. 64 bit java is not compatible.
3. Install MineCraft We will be using the most recent version of MineCraft (1.6.2), which can be downloaded here: Minecraft. If you already have minecraft, It cannot have any mods, or resourse packs.
4. Install MineCraft Forge Forge is required for this to work. It can be found here: Forge Mod Loader. Simply open the file and it will be installed automatically.
5. Install Minecraft Web Browser Another automatic installation, which can be found here: Web Display Mod
All credit for making this possible goes to Buildlight for developing the Web Display mod for Minecraft. Link to his own thread can be found here: BuildLight thread
6. Start Minecraft When opening the launcher, you should be prompted to login. After entering your info, at the bottom left, you will see an ability to select a profile. For the profile, select Forge. It may require you to put in your info again, that is normal. Then launch the game normally. If everything has been set up correctly, you should see the regular minecraft screen, and at the bottom left you'll see "4 mods loaded, 4 mods active". Then, click on multiplayer, click direct connect, and put in the IP address, which is "mc.virtualbarcraft.com" without the quotation marks. You should now be connected to server.
To avoid too many random people joining the server while we're still working on it, I will release the IP address to the server 3 hours before the actual show starts, right here in this post. These are the times at which the IP will be released:
CEST: 23/08/13 11:00 AM
EDT/EST: 23th August 2013 05:00 AM
PDT/PST: 23th August 2013 02:00 AM
KST: 23/08/13 18:00/ 06:00 PM

EDIT #2: The IP to connect to the Minecraft server is: 38.100.66.153:25565 (the last five digits is the port)

EDIT#4: I just want to apologize to WCS, ESL and Blizzard. I was streaming our Barcraft, and without realizing my violation against the tournament, I was re-streaming it. I'm deeply sorry, I would never delibaretely hurt anyone, least of all one of my favorite gaming events.
EDIT #5: The server has changed to a dedicated host, the new IP is 38.100.66.153:25565 Thanks to Daenks for providing the dedicated server!

Hey btw, you might wanna think of getting like a RC or Vent server set up for people who want to interact with each other? Set up different channels for different areas of the server maybe?

And that's the 480p stream, we watched the stream at 720p at one point and it looked even better.
The sounds is perfect, the mod has a separate process for sound, so it will sound as good as it will if you listen via a regular browser.

Some clarification from the OP instructions:
Once you install Forge, you need to log into Minecraft at least once, using the profile Forge has created (by default, it's called "Forge"). You can switch profile in the default Minecraft launcher in the bottom left. This will generate the rest of the files needed to run Forge. WebDisplay cannot install until this has been done.
Woo I helped build it! I hope the mod installation and inability to control the stream doesn't deter people. Also forgot to put up a sign telling people "F1 drops the UI to better watch the stream"
I hope someone streams themselves in this server watching the stream. Then someone should make a second minecraft barcraft server to watch a stream of the first minecraft barcraft server. Yeahhh.
What would be more impressive is a full-blown BarCraft server (custom plugins included) that has a barcraft running for every up and coming tournaments with a tourny calendar Makes watching tournaments way better without the twitch chat retards. edit: holy smokes some genius on reddit said we should get redeye to say hi to us in the minecraft barcraft.
hahaha, this is such a great idea! I'm not a minecraft fan by any stretch of the imagination, but apparently my imagination just hasn't been stretched far enough until now. I wasn't aware you could use minecraft like this. Awesome! Hope you guys will have a blast!

Also if I have luck and either of the above options work I will be glad to re-stream it since some people requested it (as long as my connection/cpu can hold up to 720p without the stream lagging, will do some tests before trying)

Oh.. Didn't know about the possibility of a flood of hackers. Well I hope I will be able to get an account from a friend if this won't be enabled. I guess I will find out in 30 mins (everything installed on cracked) Thanks^^

Quick question about the setup itself if i may: I'm trying the mod out for myself (huge browser screen on a small deserted island in the middle of the ocean: check!) but i can't figure out how you can fill the screen with the video, as fullscreening doesn't work (it just overlays a fullscreen video over Minecraft). Is there a way you can zoom in using the ingame keyboard or how do you do it? Many thanks.

It says I need web display 0.2 to connect to the server, I have web display 0.3 there doesn't seem to be anyway to download an older version. In fact I think all the traffic may have broken the download link :/

I figured it out, you need to DL from the Web Display Mod link under point 5 in this thread, not from the official MC forum.

There's a new launcher for minecraft 1.6.2 that you have to download.
i was playing minecraft yesterday fine, i followed steps from op, i tried to login but my username/password was incorrect everytime, i removed minecraft, instaled it again and tried to login on my account and i couldn't, i went to minecraft.net to try to login but my account doesnt work, when i try to reset password it sends it to my email but when i try to login it still says its wrong, what to do, my account is unmigrated
when i go on site into login and theres verify email i click it and it says Your email has already been verified. i didnt do that what happened
when i go to minecraft site i can forgot username and it comes back to my email with my username, i can reset password and it comes to my email and it resets, but when i try to login with username/password it just says Oops, unknown username or password. If you are logging in with a Mojang account make sure to use your e-mail address as username.

Just saying, I had the same error message and all I did to fix it was reinstall the Flash player and uninstalled 64-bit Java and only installed the 32-bit one

The stands are great, and the design is cool and good. But at a certain point someone finds a spot to stand on top of the dividers, and block the view for everyone. This should be countered either by revisin the design of the stands, or by tougher moderating.

Yes I know. I have thought about that myself, but I didn't design the seating area, wasn't even online when they did that, so I didn't have a say about that. Maybe we'll change it during the downtime.
Wow, this is incredbly cool. If I weren't stuck at work I'd fire up minecraft and try this out, but since I'm stuck at work I'll just use the twitch stream like all the other un-hip kids

If they set onlinemode = false then it should (though not completely sure as I'm not uber pro server host like imarine). Also if cracked version is 1.6.2.
As for the seating, I think if the stairs to go up the stairs should be up the sides, and then seats through the middle. As being on the end sucks ass since the screen distorts. That or you have to sit on the stairs and then people keep walking into you QQ

Will these dopes at Blizzard be smart enough to host this. This is history making WCS 2013 Season Two finals in a barcraft in a minecraft server also streamed on twitch this may be off the wall in 2013 but cmon its undeniably awesome watch just ask me as I will confirm.
This is crazy good. I can't pick up items right now and it says i don't have permission to speak in global chat. Any idea why? I wasn't doing anything wrong/annoying.

Firstly, thanks for putting in the effort to make something so awesome. Would you happen to have a different link to the minecraft forge loader? The link for the installer seems to be broken, at least for me. I've tried searching around on Google but can't seem to find a different download.

I just wrote Twitch an email explaining how it was a mistake, how I didn't realize what I was doing. It sounds stupid, but I guess I was being quite stupid. They lifted the ban, considered it a warning, because I acknowledged that I could not do something like that. They were very understanding. Twitch.tv <3

I followed your steps step by step and im not sure, even on the Mod creators page it doesnt have much information on how to run it for your own server.. could you guys please assist it would be Much appreciated ^.^

Your probably extracting the winrar file, just leave the winrar file in the mods folder and run the server.
Also, for those trying to see things in fullscreen for Twitch, use the popout link since the fullscreen button will just cause the stream to freeze and the sound to continue.
