You've apparently never taken the time to read the actual ban list. While it's outrageously humorous, it's also pretty thorough, and I doubt TL would let anyone abuse their power.
If you've been banned, you deserve it. May not realize it right away, but go back after some time has passed, and read the posts that got you banned, and you'll realize it was earned.

I don't know what your reply has to do with that.

It's very hard to find a mod shitting on a thread by just derailing, posting a meme or just right out flaming someone without it having an ironic purpose; usually right before they ban a user or close the thread. In other words is there really anything you can report a mod on, just remember reporting isn't disagreeing with them or thinking an idea was distasteful but rather the idea of total disregard for the integrity of the thread.

sometimes the mods go a little bit overboard on the warnings. however the fact that i am still here after 5 years proves that they are extremely forgiving+lenient to those who make an honest effort to respect their rules and contribute to the community.

I thought he meant report them for their bans or warnings. My mistake.

It is so incredibly easy to get along with the mods... I don't understand people that get banned repeatedly. Maybe it's all just trolling; I tend to get trolled pretty easily. Of course, I'm one of those guys that never really got into fights with my parents growing up either. I realized early on that it just caused more problems than it solved. I even remember lecturing my friends about it when they would pick stupid fights about things that took ~5 minutes to resolve without conflict.
Granted, I have been on the verge of hitting the Post button on a few things that would definitely get me banned, but at some point in my forum career, I got into the habit of re-reading my posts before hitting that button, and that habit has saved me a lot of trouble. Most of the things that I refrain from posting are smart-ass comments meant to make me sound witty or smart, or just cynical, nihilistic, and insensitive comments that, experience has told me, most people will find offensive.

I think 9/10 of the posts I write never get posted. I'm not sure if people lack the ability to be like 'naw' or if they just want to be heard that much, but it's not hard to avoid being banned if you act like a normal human being. Unless you get unlucky in roulette..

I've never been banned... then again, I doubt anyone knows who I am. Probably related.

You know, is anyone unbanned? Watch this kids!

Booya I'm freaking awesome!!! :D

Long story short
evanthebouncy (banned) sorrow_eyes (learned from mistake, unused) happymanrun (another smurf) evanthebouncy! (back to original)
then evanthebouncy become unbanned by the grace of mani. wee!

So yeah... bans definitely set people straight. Although it's more of "people grow up over time" kind of a deal. Eventually puberty gotta end, and you stop raging hormone. hehe

I find myself doing this more and more often. Even when it's not an inflammatory post, but just going against the general grain and I realize arguing with people will be pointless, I just delete it and move on.

Banning and moderation generally protects people from those who drain all civility and intelligence from a community. I don't think its intended as a rehabilitation and personality management tool, unless someone's really young and is likely to mature from it.

I think this is me too. I got warned a few times for trolling a bit too hard and I'm sure I'm usually too aggressive in arguments, but it's never been hard to stay within most of the rules or contribute to a thread. I don't understand the people who can't stop themselves from posting the first thing in their head.
