90 days if u want. just please change my ban reason, please write at the end that it was my friend and not me who made the posts its seriously all i want the first reply i get from a mod is this
"Actually, you had created several homework threads that were closed BEFORE you were banned. No And if something remained open, it could be that it was different than yours and not just a generic homework help thread, or that it was missed. Don't go all "well why can HE get away with it!" on us, you're not fucking 12 (I hope). It wasn't
Not to mention you've had a few other warnings/bans as well. Usually our trigger fingers are a bit itchier on people with a bad record. i didnt have any previous bans
So, yeah. Yours was pretty justified whether you believe so or not." for the wrong reasons!

"so sensitive of something I didn't do"
You literally "let a friend" post on your name like a fucking jack ass. Be a man and except the consequences for which YOU allowed to happen. How you can be so uptight about the clarification over this as if we as moderators are obligated to 100% take the word of each ass-hat that gets banned "oh it wasn't you? It was someone else on your account? Ah ok, we will just ban you anyways but make sure to clarify that you had a 'friend' posting instead." Seriously?
I can't outright ban... it has to be suggested and then approved. That said saying "fuck you" to a guy who works for free for this website and contributes on a daily basis because he felt the ban was justified is pretty bad. Being a general inflammatory dick and completely dominating this thread with your terrible sob-story about how unjustified you were treated when YOU LET YOUR FRIEND POST ON YOUR NAME AND BE A DICK is completely unacceptable. To make it worse you "martyred" yourself by starting to ask for a ban extension for something 2 years old to "set the record straight"
I will make sure and include your request in the ban.
When you get back: If you have a problem with moderation leave the "fuck yous" out of it.. or is a 5 year old posting on your name now? Also: Don't take the martyring attitude here. We aren't amused and it proves nothing.

I... I don't understand what's so confusing about that ban. Someone with 5k posts and 2.5 years tenure knows that you a) Don't make lazy homework threads and b) you don't let your idiot friend on your account to fuck it up.
At least the honourable incontrol set the record straight! LET THE TRUTH PREVAIL. SUNSHINEEEEEEE

you forgot c bitch about both of those and not being the one who is wrong. t-t

I always feel like I've grown and learned something when I read iNcontrol's posts. This thread does not disappoint
As I know this thread has stated a good many times, the sad reality is that most people who are dumb are still dumb (or worse) after their ban. But bans, especially temporary ones, serve as a nice time-out and reality check to the more sensible posters--something the moderators on this forum understand.

Heav, dude, you can't keep playing the victim. Let me tell you how I see things from my perspective:
0) You seem like the kind of dude who gets irrational when he gets emotional. That's fine, you just need to be aware of this. If you feel yourself getting mad, maybe you shouldn't type a reply until you can think straight again.
1) You opened several threads about schoolwork. We group those together as "homework threads". You seem upset because technically it's not homework, it's just something brought up at school or through extracurriculars or something. That's stupid. Don't be an idiot fighting to the death over a technicality: "It's not homework it's exam review" or something. You get the point we're making when we call them homework threads, even if it's not definitively homework.
2) If you give someone your account, you are responsible for what they write. There is no debating this. So, moving forward, let's ignore the fact that it was your friend because it's erroneous to the discussion.
In my eyes (everything forward can be preceded by "in my opinion" since it's all subjective), Rage was overly aggressive in his first reply. That's probably because you are a bad poster. Bad posters get less respect. Were it me, I wouldn't have been that aggressive; however, the way you(r friend) reacted makes Rage's reply completely justified.
An analogy: a) You are walking down the street. Someone yells at you "Nice shirt, you faggot." You don't respond and continue talking to your friends. He ends up looking stupid and everyone looks down on him. b) You are walking down the street. Someone yells at you "Nice shirt, you faggot." You respond in some equal fashion in line with his insult. People look up to you for defending yourself and he ends up looking stupid. c) You are walking down the street. Someone yells at you "Nice shirt, you faggot." You take a baseball bat out of your truck and chase him. You end up looking stupid and everyone looks down on you.
The line of action you took was "c". Next time, try to take "a" or at least"b".

But I got banned a couple of times for one post where I used too many foul words or for QQing too much. What upset me most about that was that I was basically banned when I had one big post where I QQed a lot, but most of my other posts are usually pretty large and I try to contribute a lot and actually bring arguments tot he table instead of just baseless QQing, whereas others just have no idea how discussion works and just hammer you down with their silly points and logical fallacies and endless QQing, yet none of them get banned.
my first ban I got was for "ruining a good thread". I was banned by kennigit, and I remember being really really upset about it. Like genuinely sad / angry that I was banned for my post. I don't exactly remember the post in question, but it was a thread about something and I posted something in a calm and mannered fashion which was actually on topic as far as I remember, but Ken disagreed with me and banned me for two weeks. Yes, not one, but two weeks. And that was my first ban I ever got. I was like really close to never ever visiting this forum again. That really upset me a lot. Not in a "omg these forum moderators are idiots" way, but more in a way that made me supersad and disappointed.
in short, sometimes I feel like being honest and not idiotic/hypocritical like a lot of people here can really bite you in the ass. you can get banned for simply stating your honest opinion, even if you don't flame others etc. in the progress and try to argue reasonably.
I also got banned for literally calling someone a "fucking idiot" or something like that, and I totally understand that since I asked for the ban in the post (but that guy deserved it, and I think I never did it again after that). But then sometimes I really don't understand why I was banned instead of warned. Or when I was banned not for one or two days, no, like a week or two. That just really hurts. Like, it doesn't make you angry or something, it's just like a mod is trying to tell me: "Please get the fuck out of our forums, we don't like you, we don't want you here". Especially when you get banned for a post which intended no harm.
edit: oops I forgot a part of my post.
So in terms of "getting set straight". Well, I think more active about my choice of words right now and also I have some occasions where I write some lengthy post, like at least 1000 words+, then read through it and I'm like "better not post that, some moderator might read something into my post which I didn't intend" and just delete the post and leave it at that. That's not exaggerating or something, but sometimes I really get worried that I'm going to be banned again lol. I looked through your mod notes and I honestly don't think you have much to complain about.. This post got you your first ban. It was neither calm, mannered nor on topic. Also, it was 2 days instead of 2 weeks. Not sure how that made you so upset.. maybe you thought you got banned for another post? We didn't have the red text messages back then that make it clear which post got you banned. Your 3 other bans were completely justified as well. A 2 day ban for calling someone a fucking idiot and stating yourself that it'd get you banned, a 1 week ban for calling Americans "really fucking retarded sometimes" while you had gotten 2 warnings just the day before and another 1 week ban for posting an ASCII facepalm pic (that would normally get you a 2 day ban, but you already had 2 bans and 4 warnings). Also, you tried dodging that last ban by creating a new account and we were apparently nice enough not to extend the ban on your main account! All in all, I'd say we treated you very fairly..
yes you're right. my memory was totally off on that first one. I'm probably thinking about some other ban on an older account which I stopped using when I changed my nick to heishe everywhere. still that ban was weird. even reading it now the post clearly sounds comical (since I capslocked barbar and nobody ever uses that as an insult), it must've been when I first started posting and didn't realize that it was not a smart idea to post that kind of jokey post.
I guess my ban on heishe wasn't extended after I created a new account because of what I posted. Some guy was asking if it would be possible to implement a mass-observer tool or something with which one could observer tournament games etc, and I was itching to tell him that something like that already exists (waaaghtv in WC3).
by the way what also made me sad when manifesto told me that I seem to be taking a monthly dump on the forums I put a lot of effort into my posts usually.
maybe it wasn't justified to say it the way I did, but some people really are .... you know what I mean sometimes. people there were clearly saying: jokes about nazis and hitler and jews are hilarious and totally OK, but jokes about 9/11 are clearly not ok and absolutely not funny, the excuse being that one has happened in younger memory than the other, which makes no sense at all. when I see that kind of ignorance I just go mad for 1 minute and it results in posts like that (also with calling the guy a fucking idiot after he said that b-teamers etc. had no right to complain about their working conditions since they play videogames as a job) . But anyways, that's long over.
but you're right, those bans were more or less deserved.

I was banned only once, waaay back in 2006 for making possibly one of the most retarded threads ever. Now I almost never make new threads haha.

My rule now to making threads is if you're not opening up an external text editor to make the thread you're probably not trying hard enough or the topic isn't good enough for a thread.
I wonder if there is a bbcode text editor that works well enough to be close enough to tl bbcode
that or an editor that would except custom formats with a little set up.

Never been banned, as far as I can recall I have never been warned either, I guess im just too boring and fly under the radar

I got 3-day banned by manifesto, and can't disagree with it. Now I make sure to read my posts over before posting them.
also, chill has probably closed at least 3-6 garbage threads of mine, and looking back I'm glad he did.
I wouldn't say i've ever been a problem poster, but I try now to be a lot better then i was back when i started...
Hey, I even got the first featured thread for SC2! (the attempted debunking of the fast queen build being insta-win after 2009 blizzcon)

Huh?
It was two days:

And your "well thought out" post was this:

I don't think they are memory deficiencies as much as subconscious (in some circumstances) attempts at justification and legitimization of your actions - much as in the way that it could occur in a crime tv show or something (misremembering a tragic instance for example).
Anywho, I've been banned once for posting in one of those "post in here and you'll get banned" threads. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it at the time, but it was a pretty legit ban. Also, Chill wins.
