I was not too pleased by that revelation. | ||

I'm really impressed by some of the play from dota pros. They have awesome awareness, pull off sick plays, and last hit amazingly. BUT, they seem to go on tilt SO easily. If one unlucky thing happens to them, they'll often start making really dumb/greedy decisions that just get them killed again and again. Plus they start making dumb excuses and blaming the game when they clearly made mistakes the average player would know to avoid. I know they're just pub games so the pro's don't really care about the outcomes. But they get pretty angry about it nonetheless, which seems weird. And yes it can be frustrating when your teammates aren't great or you run into some bad luck, but I guess I expected pros to have more composure and put more effort into something that should be practice for their job. The thing is, I don't see pro SC2 streamers raging and going on tilt nearly as much as dota streamers. | ||

However I actually find this makes Dota less rage-inducing personally. In SC2, you can only blame yourself, and the only way to win more is to put more effort into your whole game. Dota seems more chill to me, in that really you don't have to be focused on the game 100% of the time to play well, and you don't just have yourself to blame for losing. Maybe it's just me but I actually feel worse blaming myself for losses than feeling that other people let down the team. | ||

I've seen all kinds of fail techies: stuck at lvl7 after 30 minutes, mass suicide, planting mines in front of the enemy... the list goes on. | ||

If any of you have ever gotten that advice, don't follow it. And if you've given that advice, stop. Practicing against bots is fine but never ever play with them and assume they'll do anything but feed. In the hope of staying positive I'm taking it as a sign that I should exclusively start playing real games now. I'm 1-0 against real people. Guess it's time to change that.
