Also, I probably will not play any dota until I'm done with college app, so if there's a cap on this like with the TL guild, you probably shouldn't give me access until way later if you decide to. TT

I'd just like to remind everyone that this client doesn't change anything about what TLIH is about. The vouching process is purely to prevent random people from IXDL who are not part of the TL community spilling over. There is still no skill requirement to get vouched. That said, this now gives us the power to be harder on people who ruin games. We are not following NADota's rules, we are following TLIH rules. If you are a dick in TLIH, you will get warned within the client, and if you are bad enough the moderation may even spill onto TL. We've never needed to do anything like this in the past, let's keep it that way. The password may not be TLIH any more because the client will tell us what password to use for each specific game. Passwords will be announced in the public room though so observers are always free to join. As for Mac/Linux; I had completely forgotten about it not being available for them and I'm a bit stumped right now about how to get around that problem. Does it not run on Wine/whatever?

Dota 2 is fun, but it's even more fun when you're playing with people you know. However, some of us may not be fortunate enough to have friends who play Dota, and thus are forced to play with random people game after game, thrown into the hot pot that is matchmaking. For new people, that can be daunting, not knowing whether to trust someone when when he tells you to build a Vanguard because 'it is good on every strength hero'. And for veterans, well, you should know what I'm talking about. Well, we at TL pride ourselves on being a relatively/mostly mature and intelligent group of gamers. We want to take advantage of that, and that is why we started the TLIH. First and foremost, what are the prerequirements to joining? We have one rule - don't be a dick. We will not hesitate to kick you. There is no skill prerequirement. We accept everyone from people brand new to Dota to veterans and pros. It is advisable however that if you are brand new and don't know any heroes yet, you should probably dip your toe in bot games to learn a few heroes and how the game basically works. If you are completely new and haven't had the time to play bot games first, you can spectate the game and ask the other spectators for help to understand the game. When you eventually start playing as a newbie, please make yourself known to the lobby host as it could help him balance the teams around you. Also make sure to let your team captain know when he starts drafting heroes; tell him early on what heroes you're somewhat familiar with so he can try to implement them into his draft. So what can you expect by joining us? Our drafts vary from one to the next. Some captains tend to pick drafts following the top tier competitive heroes of the current metagame, whereas others like to experiment with fun themes and picks in their drafts. Examples of fun drafts would be 'the blue team', 'the lightning theme', 'the bug theme' - you get the idea. However, regardless of what happens in the draft, our actual gameplay is relatively high level - many of you may even call it 'tryhard'. Aggressive/defensive trilanes (2-1-2 lanes are extremely rare in our inhouses), warding and counterwarding, smokes, roaming supports...all of this is fair game, even encouraged. Item choices like fast Mekansms and Pipes and whatnot should be considered. Our heroes may occasionally be silly but our gameplay is usually serious. That said, please remember that we have many newbies who will have no idea what to do until you explain it to them, and even then they will get it wrong. That's natural, Dota is a hard game. You may well have to hold their hand very closely and spoonfeed them every little bit of information in their first games. Embrace it.
