I'm just wondering why this happens: http://i.imgur.com/yzR7EkP.jpg
The box is about a couple cm behind my cursor when I make a box. The game runs fine but it's very disorienting and throws me off sometimes, is there a reason this happens/how do I fix it?
I don't think my system specs matter since I run the game fine but I have i7 3.2GHz and GTX 580 ti.

Can be caused by vsync or things like frame queues, in nvidia control panel, 3d options, put "maximum pre-rendered frames" to 1, if you still have issue then, make sure vsync is disabled in nvidia driver and ingame and look for something called "reduce mouse lag" if it's there
Also confirm it happens just with the game, with any kind of recording software shut down (if you still have issues)

I noticed the problem without fraps and only used fraps to record the short video to show it. In SC2 I used "reduce mouse lag" and it worked great, but dota 2 doesn't have that =( Is there a way to do that straight from graphics card through driver software?

I dunno, i remember dota 2 having at least a few annoying laggy things though when i played it

yeah... really wish UI responsiveness was like sc2 :|

At least a lot of the laggy stuff is built into the engine by design, and it does not microstutter like a bitch

How fast are you moving your mouse?

If the mouse position has updated but the box position has not, it's at least one frame behind (16.7ms at 60fps) which is an annoying amount of latency

@above I remember you used to be able to set pre-rendered frames to 0 (that's what I did for skyrim to get rid of mouse lag) but that's no longer an option (even when I do it with nvidia inspector it never sticks).

Setting to 0 was removed a while ago because it was functionally the same as setting it to 1 (or so as said by nvidia.. numerous people have argued against it)
If you try to override it to 0, it'll default to 3, which is bad

Huh, I definitely notice a diff between current 1 and old 0. But there's nothing I can do about it so w/e

If you mean old as being 2 years ago (before driver version 3xx.xx), there's some people saying that too, i found a lot of posts from nvidia and their driver dudes addressing it before. There was lots of placebo, and i can't go back in time so not the easiest thing to test
It you mean since then, sure, you can notice a difference between "1" and a 0 which is defaulted to 3

I felt a difference between driver versions sometimes, so I think NVIDIA are doing something suspicious. I think the 314.xx drivers were worse than the 320.xx drivers for example. There was some more latency, though I can't say for sure with my monitor. The current drivers seem to be on the better side regarding latency, so maybe try them if you didn't update.
In the NVIDIA control panel, other than that "pre-rendered frames" setting, you might also want to try "threaded optimization" = Off, "power management mode" = max performance, then go to the section about "desktop size and position", set scaling to "no scaling" and set "perform scaling on: display".
All of this might be placebo.
