It's ok If I set my OBS preset to fast instead of veryfast? (for starcraft 2)

Thanks

Can someone help me figure out the best settings for my set up? If I go past 1100 Max Bitrate/Buffer Size, I stutter and lag my stream every 30 seconds or so; I thought I should be able to get 1900 Max Bitrate/Buffer Size with my 2.09 Mb/s upload. Anything I can do to change the quality of my stream to make it look better (Hopefully increase the resolution?), settings wise, let me know! Thank you for your help

CPU: i7 3770k
GPU: GeForce 9800 GTX+ (Need a new video card, I know)
RAM: G-Skill 8gb 2133mhz
MOBO: Asus P8Z77-Pro
INTERNET:
Current Settings:
Quality: 10
Max Bitrate: 1100
Buffer Size: 1100
Audio Encoding: AAC Bitrate 96
Server: US West - Los Angeles (I tried LA Secondary and still the same)
Custom: 1920 x 1080
Resolution Downscale: 2.00 (960x540)
FPS: 60
Disable Aero at Startup: Yes

Have you tried testing your bandwidth somewhere else? Try testmy.net, which I read on the OBS site can help you determine what your real upload is, since Speedtest takes into account the initial burst of data when beginning the upload.

You may need to lower the FPS to perhaps 45? I think that could save you a bit of bandwidth to prevent the issue, as it seems maybe your bandwidth is having issues with the data.

Also, do you have the logs to see if there's any issues?

I'll try testmy.net later, thanks for the suggestion.

Will sacrificing FPS for a higher Max Bitrate/Buffer Size be better for my stream quality? Anything else I should change to make my stream look better and maybe even increase resolution?

Sacrificing FPS wont change anything, you will still be using the same amount of bandwidth. If you half fps, you just get twice as many bits in each frame, because that is controlled by the bitrate option, not anything else.

You can go to 1280x720@60fps or 1920x1080@45 or whatever, as long as you stick to bitrates that work

I'll try 1280x720 @ 60fps later and keep you posted if it stutters

Just tested my upload my testmy.net, which is reporting my upload to be a full Mb less than what speedtest was reporting, so I'd definitely recommend checking what your speed is there for nothing else then being able to lowball, though it does seem like it's probably more accurate.

So, I want to add a image to my stream, but it won't let me resize or move it. I just don't see the red rectangle around it.... help would be very appreciated

Actually i had mixed results with testmy.net, when using the auto upload it was reporting me a 1/3rd of my usual upload (which i also get when uploading stuff to my university). After changing the upload Size to 5 mb the average was nearly my usual upload again.

^I had weird results with it, kept reporting spikes (in the longer tests) to 15-20x my max upload rate which made the averaged result worthless

Depends on resolution/fps you have set for stream, you are increasing CPU load 2-3fold by doing that

Thanks. I now have another problem . For some Applications it says, OBS is required to be the 32bit version to stream the game (i.e. World of Tanks). Does anybody know how to fix that?

Support for the 32-bit version of OBS is way better than 64-bit so for now just go with the 32 bit version. The 64 bit version doesnt offer any real advantages anyway.

Well I tried, but it seems like it's lagging everytime I stream with 32 bit version, but not with 64bit version. All settings are the same in both versions.

Hello and thank you for OBS. I had some issues and I wanted to tell everyone how I fixed them in the cnances it might help someone.

I had a black screen when I streamed. I fixed this by updating my graphics card drivers and by downloading the most up to date version of OBS.

I also had some sound issues. There was a static sound coming from my stream. This was due to ne using a microphone that was built into my computer. Thus it was picking up atmosphere sound. So I have to use an external microphone. I hope this helps someone.

Got it to capture game screen now but still flickers terribly when I try to play. Not sure how to solve it. Heres a link to a VoD, where I try to start up 2 games and the UI flickers really hard.
