Hello there. I just recently got a new PC (i5 3570k, 7850 not oc, 8gb of ram) and SC2 won't show my GPU temperature anymore. It's really not that big of a deal since I bet there's plenty of programs that can show that, yet it's kinda bothering me and maybe there's an easy way to fix it.
Before that I had a GeForce 8600GS which is like the worst GPU you could ever imagine, but I didn't have the problem with it.
Is it an ATI problem? Or what else can it be? Like I said, my life doesn't depend on this (does it? :D), but I'm definitely thankful for your answers in advance.

Have you tried Ctrl+alt+f while in game, that should bring up your gpu temp and fps while in game.
|
Haha, of course I have, that's exactly what's not working anymore ^_^
|
That was working as of yesterday for me, i'll have to check it out later tonight
|
afaik it shows GPU temp only on GeForce cards

SC2's GPU temperature feature will only show values if your GPU or IGP has a heat sensor. That being said I'm inclined to believe the post above me as my custom built PC with a Radeon HD 6870 has no heat sensor, but my laptop with a GTX 640M and Intel HD Graphics 4000 both have heat sensors.

Every GPU has temperature sensor built in. And you can read it 99% of the time. SC2 just doesn't recognize some of them (i.e. AMD cards and so on).
|
Okay. So there's really nothing I can do about it, right? Except for maybe waiting for Blizzard to add some more graphics cards to their list or something like that?
|
Basically, yes. You can use external programs like GPU-z or Speedfan to display temp in system tray.

I don't know why you'd care about GPU temps in SC2 anway. They're going to be amusingly close to idle temps on a HD 7850. The game is barely going to be able to put a load on that card.
|
I don't really know either. It just calms me (don't know if that even makes sense) to see that everything is working the way it should.

I use a GeForce 550 TI 1gb and it puts some load on it, making it climb to +- 60 degree C

Do you have your fps capped at 60? If not, maybe that's the reason why.

Thanks for the backup to my point. 60 celsius is low, and a 550ti has literally about half the performance of a hd 7850 on average.
