I had this strange expirience whit my new PC and windows7 (64bit), that for some reason it ALT+TABs from the games (every game!), but it also looses selection of let's say: firefox, foobar, tottal commander, etc. windows when in windows.
This also happens when I just sit back and not touch anything.
At first I thought it was a keyboard driver problem, so i updated it, the problem is still, there, to make it eaven more strange it doesn't always happen and eaven when it does seemingly it is totaly random.
Since this problem showed I have updated everything, that was updatable, tryed to reset all periferial settings, nothing helped so far not eaven coutless reinstalls of the drivers.
My friend had to face the same problem a year back whit his razer keyboard, he couldn't find a sollution, and ended up throwing it in the garbage and going back to a crapy PS2 keyboard, the problem was gone, but still it's a freaking slow PS2 keyboard :/
My keyboard is BTW a TteSports Challanger, but since this problem has been there whit other USB keyboards aswell I don't think it matters much. :S
If there is anyone, who could help me whit this problem, I would be very gratefull!

Could be some kind of malware/spyware. Try running something like Spybot Search&Destroy.
BTW, a ps/2 connected keyboard would actually have slightly better responsiveness. The reason for usb is only to enable all the special features of the keyboard, such as macro keys, TTE's own drivers, the fan...and it's kind of the new standard.

Because you are so used to alt-tabbing you are doing it subconsciously.

I'm sure you can disable alt-tabbing by going to options in your SC2 client. Not sure if it'll work in your situation though.

I have also tried to disable ALT+TAB in game, it still jumps to windows, eaven if I don't touch the keyboard!
BTW the fan is a nice little thing to have but unfortunately after 1or 2minutes it really becomes irritating, and damaging to your hands, I would only recommed for a quick cooldown inbetween games, but not more. :/

Have you tried with a different usb keyboard then? If you don't have one you can find $1 ones just to test it if nothing else works. The above links have some suggestions you might want to try first.

Uhh.. never had this happen to me before o.o very weird.

Sounds like malware or some program that is running that is causing it. Do a scan and if that doesn't fix it then try using the task manager and closing unnecessary programs that are running.

do you have skype open when this happens?

There was no malware found or skype installed on the pc.
I'm trying out some of the suggestions, hopefully something will work.

I've experienced this many times, but usually it's a result of a Windows taskbar pop-up or background task that feels the need to notify me that it's running as a background task (Norton 360). Either way, it's of minimal concern to me and I feel it's just a matter of tweaking the options of your background activities so that they aren't doing this.

What did you scan with? Don't use Spybot SnD, its awful. Have you tried using this exact keyboard with a ps/2 adapter?

No I have not, but I did manualy update my Avira antivirus, and now everythings working fine for the past few days now.
It seems that it's updater was the source of my problems.
Anyway thank you all for your help, you guys are awesome.

I had this problem for a while. Figured out it was the antivirus software interrupting the game. Stopped happening after I uninstalled it.

Ive also recently upgraded to Win7 x64 and Im experiencing this annoying issue. I have no AV. I have to have all other apps closed whilst playing SC2 or I just periodically get bumped to the desktop and have to alt-tab back into SC - most annoying!
The problem seems to only happen at the start of games, perhaps coz its then that I go back and close all other windows, eg Chrome or WinExplorer.
The only things in my systray are volume icon, USB indicator for my (very basic/standard) keyboard and an internet download usage app.
I read the MS article in this thread but it doesnt seem super helpful.
Ill continue to monitor this annoying issue.

Hello everyone. Unfortunately I have this issue too and I am using a laptop not a desktop. I have W7 and Norton 360. For some reason while gaming( randomly when I alt tab) my pc goes crazy. Whatever button I press on the keyboard it will open random stuff and it will alt tab me from the game automaticly. Did anyone find the reason why this happens? Or any solution? Thanks in advance

OK for me it turned out to be citrix receiver which I had installed to log into work.
Perhaps the fact that I seemed to be constantly alt-tabbed out to desktop (rather than an application) should have been a clue that it was one of those little taskbar icon programs?
Oh well getting rid of that seems to have fixed it for me other than the occasional java update (Grrr).
Advice: Close down one taskbar program - keep going until next alt tab OR 4 hours is over... make sure you write down which ones you've tried shutting off I got confused and jumbled it up taking much longer

Sorry for bumping this thread but I think i found your solution.
First of all, go to the search button on the lower left on windows 7, and type in "MSCONFIG".
Click on MSCONFIG.EXE and then hit services.
Hit disable all, then click apply
It disables all third party applications (don't worry, ones that are necessary for your computer don't close)
Then hit enable all, and click apply
It should be fixed now
