Hey there TL!
I just decided to grab my old monitor lying around and put it on this PC.
Now this was the monitor that I originally used on this PC so I naturally assumed that it would work properly when attempting a dual monitor setup.
I was wrong, I plugged it in and turned it on and nothing has happened. Windows cannot detect it for whatever reason, it just can't see it.
I have already updated my GFX card drivers and windows etc, I tried a different cable (hehe)
So far no luck, Windows just does not see the monitor and while it is powered on it says no input.
I have an AMD 6950 installed for graphics this is plugged in the second monitor port on the card.
EDIT:
"I fixed it,
Turns out that the bottom port on a 6950 does not support VGA (I was using a VGA to DVI adapter). Just had to switch the monitors out and it worked just fine. Thanks to those that helped out."

Did you set it up in Catalyst? You probably have to enable it, and extend the display to it, if it's anything like Nvidia.
|
Catalyst does not see another monitor plugged in. I asked it to auto detect monitors and nothing popped up, just says my first monitor is the only one there.
|
Strange. Try it through the Windows Personalize menu for shits n giggles?
|
Same result as before. Still nothing, I know that the monitor cable works I have like 4 lying around and I have used all of them now with 0 success. Windows refuses to see the monitor at this point.
|
That's strange. I don't run dual monitors often, but I've never had any trouble convincing it to work when I've set it up.
|
Yeah this is rather strange, I mean I understand that these things need configuration but every single tutorial I've seen online starts with, "Detect the monitor" and there is no troubleshooting for if that is not working that I've seen. I guess I gotta go deeper, hopefully either I can find something or someone here knows something.
