I dont know the differences between the Ducky 1008 compared to all the other keyboards in general, could anybody help me out Can you get a CM quickfire rapid where you are? Because that should be about the same price as the Ducky and better quality, tenkeyless as well. The Ducky 1008 is ok so if its too hard to get a CM then you should be fine with that. I dont really like the looks of the CM Quickfire, and its not cheaper to order it from a local store here (and I'll have the wrong layout Im used to)
The CM labels are a bit garish. The Ducky should be good then, hope you enjoy it.

Does anyone use a Cherry board here? How does it feel to game on it for you guys?

DK1008 usually come with alps switch either black or green or something, I forgot the other one.
both switches are actually different in feels compared to the cherry switch. Plus expect the build quality of entry level keyboard are slightly less commendable. Well If you can test both switches (cherry and alps) will help you decides which ones.
Might as well head to geekhack or deskthority, to find if there are other forummer in your vicinity to test it out

I use it some times, but not often, i'm asking if the advantage of having the keyboard closer to the mouse hand is that big that it outweighs the missing numpad,
thats what I wanted to know from people that have used both, is the difference that big?

i was just browsing around for a cheap mechanical keyboard and ended up here. http://global.pchome.com.tw/english/?mod=store&func=style_show&SR_NO=SBAE0W&show=1&tm=e
my choices are the top two from the list, but i'm not too familiar with black shaft and green axis. originally i was going for either a blue or brown switch, but it wasn't in my best interest to spend that much on a keyboard. any mechanical keyboard is probably better than this dell keyboard i currently use. and my main reason for getting a new keyboard is solely for typing.
which one do you guys recommend?

depends if you want the clicky sound you have to buy blues me personally, i have a keyboard with brown switches and I enjoy typing on it but I liked typing on my razer blackwidow ( blue switches more ) but some people think the clicky sound of mx blues is too loud/annoying, others like it, it depends
the best thing you can do is try both out, if you have a shop somewere near you that has the razer blackwidow and the razer blackwidow stealth, try typing on both, and buy the ducky with the switches you liked most
the normal blackwidow has mx blues and the blackwidos stealth mx brown switches

thanks for the insight, but i'm already familiar with how the blues feel compared to the browns. personally, i wouldn't mind owning either of them. what i'm uncertain about is what exactly "black shaft" and "green axis" are, and which one of them have a feel closer to either the blues or the browns. and if they're very distinct from blues/brown, which one would you choose for typing?

they are not distinct
they are cherry blue and brown switches as far as I know im not sure whíuch one is which but its just a bad translation!
*edit*
I just checked geekhack seems like they are not cherry switches?

I like it at work because it lets me keep my arms in a good position ergonomically with one hand on the mouse and one hand on the keyboard.
Unless you use the numpad a lot, you might as well get a mini or tenkeyless, since you won't lose anything.
I can confirm that "green axis" and "black shaft" are just the way they translate the various switch colors in China, etc. If you actually go to China and look at the keyboards, it's the same shit. If I remember correctly:
轴 (axis) ~ switch 青 (green) ~ blue (the actual word they use is more like a light-blue green color, teal or some shit) 红 (red) ~ red 黑 (black) ~ black 茶 (tea) ~ brown
When you see "tea axis" or "green axis," chances are it's Cherry MX Brown or Cherry MX Blue.
Edit: Green -> Blue! It's not actually Cherry MX Green, lol. Except for maybe the spacebar, I dunno.

That could be true, but watch out because the Ducky 1000 series do come with alps switches and at $40 it seems likely they are the alps models, which apparently have iffy quality.

But at $80 I would assume that it is a cherry switched ducky. Might want to go into the store if possible and check, or just fork out the extra $20 and get a leopold.

Imagine if you tried to READ or SEARCH in the thread abit before typing? There is virtually 100+ pages of comments about how it is for gaming. And just the fact that you ask ''does anyone use a cherry board'' ......UHH yeah, EVERYONE uses one in this thread? God man...
Btw can anyone comment on a Ducky shine with MX blacks that they've tried? Is it crisp/good?
