Windows 7 Tried this on google chrome and firebox (some said it was an issue just with chrome).
When watching full screen videos, my taskbar just stays there, annoying. I don't like using Auto-Hide taskbar (even if I did that, I can faintly see the very top of it still, so there's this light line with bright white for any programs or pinned programs which makes it even worse). This must've started just a few days ago, because it just drives me nuts and I'm pretty sure I would've gone nuts earlier if this was going on for a while.
I'm not sure what the problem is. i've tried searching all sorts of stuff, most said it's an issue only with chrome, and refer to the auto-hide taskbar, not the task bar itself minimizing when full screen vods up.

When your watching youtube or something does the Flash icon appear to be on the task bar? if so click it and that should bring youtube videos to full screen, as for say VLC player if your watching a dvd movie or what not there should be an option to auto full screen, worst case scenario get used to hiding the task bar, it shouldn't take that long to get used to it.

According to this thread, it could be related to the Windows DPI setting. Have you changed that away from 100%? Please check this setting

On the bottom of the screen with hidden task bar, I can just see the tippy top of it, so it's even more annoying because its like a millimiter bar there with bright white parts for pinned programs and tabs.

Why yes. I don't know if I've never noticed that because of similar google programs stacking together, or if that's new. Either way, clicking on it doesnt change the task bar in the way.
With VLC or GOM player maxed out, the task bar is there too. So it's clearly not a Chrome issue itself, as using Firefox also has this problem.
Guys the questions you ask are both answered in my OP ;/ I appreciaet the help though.

Uhm....you never tell us anything about the DPI settings I refer to.
|
^ It's at 100%. From what I've read, the DPI issue is a google chrome issue. My problem persists in Firefox and VLC and GOM player, not just chrome.

^ Fixed! I tried to start the file, it didn't work, I tried to restart in safe mode, I must've screwed up doing that, but regardless things were back to normal.
Maybe I just needed to restart ;/
ps why are youtube videos in divx format now?

I will use the same amount of time finding a solution, as you do in your answers...fair enough?
if you do not elaborate a little bit more and just write one-liners, I'll use my time elsewhere.

^ I'm not sure what you're talking about. You mentioned windows DPI first - which is a google chrome issue, maybe you just didn't read the thread you posted, because in the link you posted by people saying 'it worked', it was because it was a google chrome issue, and it didn't occur in firefox or VLC or gom or anything else - and I say in my OP in the second line it happens in firefox too. The link you gave said, as I had found out in my searches, that the DPI problem didn't exist in firefox.
None of my responses were one liners either.
Anyways thanks for your third post, it solved the issue. I did quite a bit of searching, I think I actually saw that link but the people there seem to be discussing something in regards to the Autohide feature, irregardless I tried it because it was going a bit crazy from the issue.
edit: and I mentioned the DPI issue in my 2nd post too. Again, maybe you just didn't really read what you linked me to, but the DPI issue is a google chrome bug. The problem I had persisted in every full screen program, from browsing on firefox to VLC to GOM to anything. The people clearly state in you link, as in others with the same issue, that the problem only exists with google chrome (and thus thats why a lot of bitching in those posts, ie i stopped using chrome, i use firefox now, this should be fixed, blah bla blah). I stated in my OP and 2nd post that the issue persisted in other programs.

I'm glad you solved the problem.
About the issue on DPI: The bug was reported on Chrome support forum - this does not necessarily rule out other browser nor that it could have been Flash related which is why I kept pressing the issue until you mentioned VLC. Up until then you referred to the OP which does not contain info about VLC. You did not answer me, but only said the problem wasn't Chrome. I'm sorry for not ruling out everything at once, but it usually pays off when dealing with troubleshooting (especially on the web) .
Btw. your chronological argument in your above post really do not prove anything, as you literally have edited your post(s) to a point where they have become so different that everything is unclear.

Well now you're lying. You wrote the following before editing: "^^Didn't work!". And the post before is a line and a half.

Did you even read what you posted to me? In the first post in the link, the guy says:
"Please fix asap, I had to start using Firefox because playback sucked too much in the latest chrome versions..."
and similar posts follow. It's very logical to assume other browsers or flash cannot be ruled out, but the DPI issue/fix was something that was specific to Google Chrome, and not to Firefox. That's why I said in my first post that Firefox has the same problem, because the thread you linked, people said they were using Firefox to avoid the issue.
I understand what you're getting at though, I could've been clearer.

I edited the post within 9 minutes and 4 minutes before you posted. I edited it because, well, it did work. I don't know what to tell you. I'm not 'lying', and the post before that - a one liner is a helluva lot different than a 'line and a half'. Please lay off, I appreciate your help, but I don't know what your deal is. Really. Thanks.

It's all good. I appreciate your feedback.
My reaction was mostly to the attitude you brought (no offense but you came of a bit lazy with the relative short answers without going in-depth with details). I'm not trying to generalize your post, but in my experience a lot of forum users that ask questions are way too quick to dismiss solutions, simply because they don't like the suggestions. This of course can go both ways, as some suggestions are simply irrelevant or even stupid. Usually the guys giving advice have a good understanding of the technical stuff in computers, which for the non-technical can sound crazy and thus they blindly oppose it. Sometimes it starts with users that doesn't include relevant information (again no offense, but you could maybe have said in the OP that the problem also affected VLC which would have removed focus from browsers+flash - of course I don't know if you knew that at the time, so fair enough).
Finally, if I may suggest you don't edit posts to the point you alter the essence of the post. I'm pretty sure it's a common forum "rule".
Have a nice day and glhf

but I thought you knew that I knew that at the time, that the article you linked was specifically chrome and not in firefox. I knew.

I wasn't trying to hide anything, it's an edit. It's there for a reason. I followed the instructions in the link, and it didn't work, but when I accidentally didn't follow the instructions and it ended up working, that was different. So I edited it, and then elaborated.
So no, it didn't work. But then it turned out doing it 'wrong' made it work. I posted it didnt work, and didn't explain, because I was just saying it didnt work and wasnt sure why yet, which I was going to post more succinctly on in a later post. Which I did.
good day to you too.
