The laptop is an Acer aspire 5315, I've tried installing these drivers: http://www.acer.nl/ac/nl/NL/content/drivers/50;-;Aspire 5315 -Wireless LAN of 37,6mb -The broadcom LAN one of 47,2mb So yeah, wired internet works perfectly fine, but I want it to work on WiFi aswell, Do I need to install one of the bottom 3 drivers as well, or should this automatically work after I installed the above driver? Because wired internet works does this mean the wifi receiver is just broken? It also gives the usual error in Device Manager~

The i7 with standard speed seemed absolutely fine, I used to play games at high settings and had no problems. At what point does the CPU really become a bottleneck where you would have to overclock it? Why do a lot of people recommend an unlocked i5 for gaming builds? CPU isn't a pipe, it does work - while it depends on the application, the benefit could on par with clock increase. You can check CPU reviews to compare stock performance with overclocked, this one for example: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2013/06/12/intel-core-i5-4670k-haswell-cpu-review/

In others, there's some gains, in others, the gains are close to linear, in others, gains are pretty much linear, and sometimes, you increase clock speed by 30% and get like a 50% performance improvement Really depends on the application, sc2 flies on strong overclocked cpu compared to stock UPDATE: I repeated the experiment with a late game ZvZ replay with maxed armies: 3300 MHz: Avg: 41.925 - Min: 27 - Max: 58 3700 MHz: Avg: 46.625 - Min: 32 - Max: 63 4400 MHz: Avg: 56.025 - Min: 39 - Max: 77 Min FPS 27 to 39 (1.44x increase) for 33% clockspeed increase Many games, such as sc2, borderlands 2, planetside 2, guild wars 2, crysis 2/3, battlefield 3(4?) (those are just ones i have played or had interest in) are held back by CPU considerably, so a 1.3x increase in performance obviously helps them

By this time tomorrow I'll have put together my new pc. I have bought a 4770k and I intend to overclock it to 4.7 GHz using a PHANTEKS PH-TC14PE as heatsink. Could someone link me to a thread/article about what I do after I have overclocked and have everything set up? For instance, run MemTest, Prime95. I don't know where to start with those, so I'm kind of looking for a guide that will walk me through.

There's one or two general Haswell overclocking threads and various threads for the motherboard brands specifically. Also... I have a hunch you are not really prepared what to expect! It's not just setting the multiplier and increasing the main voltage until it runs fine. This will not work. There seems to be a whole bunch of settings that depend on each other and have to be tweaked to get the CPU to run stable, so you really have to read up on how Haswell and the various voltages work. Those 4.7ghz will not be possible most likely. It seems average is 4.4 or 4.5ghz or something like that.
