Hello I have some questions about whether playing starcraft 2 could be the cause of some computer problems I have been experiencing-- I got a new toshiba laptop for christmas in 2010. It crashed after 2 years, turned out to be a failed motherboard. Last september I replaced that laptop with my current one, a toshiba satellite p845. However recently this one also started having problems. I sent it in and it turned out that the hard drive was the cause of the problem (it was repaired under warranty) Edit: both of those laptops had an i5 processor I am concerned that my usage is causing these problems, because these are 2 pretty nice laptops that are crashing in a very short amount of time. Could starcraft 2 be the cause? I understand that starcraft 2 is a game that taxes your computer somewhat heavily. Also could tuning into streams be stressing the computer the same way? I spend a pretty good amount of time watching starcraft 2 streams. I am not computer savvy please reply in english. Also I have used my laptops to watch porn before (not doing that anymore). I was running kaspersky internet security and avg security before that and neither of those programs ever reported a virus. thanks
TLDR: I have had 2 pretty nice laptops that have crashed after a strangely short amount of time. No virus' have been reported by either avg or kaspersky. Have watched porn. could starcraft 2 be the cause?

Nano I see nothing wrong and still suspect nothing wrong - unless it's a wireless conflict with your neighbor - rare, but possible. Maybe the other TL guys may see something I do not.
And BTW - Safe mode runs a minimal of programs, so it's easier for Malwarebytes to find and remove things that are already "in use" In normal mode, does that make sense?
I meant O4/startup items, run "MSCONFIG" - click startup items - click disable all, and restart. If you want to format it, it will speed things up. You may have some custom or new "bug" that has not been reported yet either.

Taldarim - If you bought the parts a year ago, the HD is probably under warranty - most carry HD warranty for three years. https://www2.hgst.com/warranty/index_serial.do
I dislike saying it, but it takes every person a loss of data before they learn to back up what they need.

Aveng3r - Watching SC2 streams and or porn (online) usually uses Flash, and it not that taxing on the computer. Playing SC2 is a bit more, but nothing like playing COD. Toshiba's are made decently, I watch streams all day on mine, I would just call it a coincidence. (Although on mine, I use power saver mode when needed, and switch to balance when required) - The fan barely runs on power saver, and runs a lot on balanced.

That could be it now that I think about it I think I did use Eco mode a lot without really thinking much about it

Are you using your computer on a bed or desk? Do you have an external fan underneath?

Can any camera be used as a webcam for streaming? I plugged the camera to my pc, but it just goes into USB transfer mode.

Monitors are Ultrasharps, probably the U2312HM.

Not that I know of, but if you have a smartphone its not too hard to use that as a webcam.

perhaps bad luck? or you are doing something wrong, overheating perhaps? in terms of sc2 taxing your pc to much. i have an very bad laptop whihc would run sc2 at 25fps at the start of the game to drop to 10 5 minutes later, sc2 and streaming can be demanding for an pc but if my shitty dual core 2 GHZ cpu could handle it then an i5 could handle it 10x better. the pc i have now i bought almost a year ago. but 6 months after i bought it the RAM just died for no reason and had to be replaced.after 6 months so i think it's just bad luck. but then again i am no pc expert of any kind .

How can I edit my old post?

You need to PM a mod to have him edit it so that you can edit it.

Just a quick question guys - Is there any way to improve general wireless network stability? Over the last couple of months the signal from my PC drops every now and then from 5 bars down to 1 or 2 and loses internet connection. It will stay connected to the network and other devices will be fine. When its connected the speeds great, I can stream 1080p from You Tube for example without issues, but the random drop outs are more than annoying to say the least.
Using a Sky Broadband Netgear 'Echolife' HG532 Router (firmware version V2.02.44) and a TP-Link Wireless Lite N Adapter, both of which seem to have the most up to date drivers. At the moment switching to a wired connection isnt an option unforetunately.
I'm not sure if its just the age of the router and the amount of things that are usually connected to it.
Feel free to ask any questions you want about specifics - not sure where to start providing info to help you!!!

You can post here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=195482 or PM a mod you see in that thread.
Don't know the reasoning behind why you can't edit old posts.
