I too have these issues, and I don't even live in Europe. Like the OP, I'm able to view other streams in high quality with no issues at all, like Ustream or the GOMTV live stream. With JustinTV though, I can drop it down to the absolute minimum quality (240) and still get major lag and framerate skips.

wow, yeah they don't seem to be taking you very seriously. Also what are they talking about reinstalling flash fixing this?

But I am open to suggestions, so I just installed flash on a freshly installed windows inside a VM and oh wonder it's the same result: ustream and own3d working fine while justin.tv lags even at 240p.

I am so glad that TSL was broadcast on ustream. I can only imagine the clusterfuck that would've been on jtv

seems like every night around 8:30pm est is when jtv starts to lag for me. so it could be my isp throttling??

i stop all my torrents and only watch 1 stream, and it seems to be a little better :\

I'm getting lag when I stream on Justin.tv, switched to Own3d and it was working without lag but a different problem came up so I switched back to justin.tv... Which still lags.

can some people do me a favor and post or at least just view the justin.tv thread, if it is consistently seen maybe they will have more trouble ignoring it?

this is really weird. The problems seem to be very local. I just visited my parents who live over 100 miles away and I could stream 720p streams on my laptop without a problem. This is not due to bandwidth because theirs is smaller than mine at home.

Now I just gotta pinpoint my problem. I'm gonna try and stream from the university, once I get back and then I'll know if JTV just doesn't play nice in certain places or just not some ISPs

its possible, but the issue isn't speed at all

during the same timeframe i can consistently watch all other streaming sites, every single one of them, EXCEPT justin.tv

my problem is different than yours because justin.tv is the only thing that is at fault, and again, it isn't lack of bandwidth or lack of downloading speed on the part of my connection, because of the fact that every other streaming service works correctly, no matter if i have to download more data faster or less data slower

Well he doesn't, he and multiple other people have no problem with ustream and own3d.tv but not with Justin.tv, so I kind of doubt it's the ISP

Well anyways if you were right, that it's the ISPs connection just to JTVs servers then we could fix this by using a vpn-tunneling through a server that has a good connection to JTV and that comcast has a good connection to.

I see ok then well when your logged in JTV has a bandwidth set and sometimes bugs get into it and makes you lag but since you don't log in its not that then do you have the same problem on other streams? maybe its the broadcast your watching that lags and not you

So Dreamhack is currently being streamed.

I checked the justin.tv stream... and it's just impossible to watch. I even tried 480p, but it still interrupts every second.

The I found a link to another stream(1080p stream at aftonbladet.se): completely smooth, no interrupts, great quality

With NASL starting tomorrow, I just don't know how am I supposed to watch it

seems to me like the nasl and justin.tv have a partnership seeing as they have a special subscription channel and you pay for nasl on justin.tv servers

maybe they could encourage justin.tv to try to fix this issue?

also if you want to laugh read the nasl chat, tons of people saying they are having lag, although the only mod or admin posts i've seen mentioning the lag say essentially

"it's your connection, sucks for you"

Have you tried a different ISP? Do you have a neighbor with DSL? Can you take a laptop to a cafe or something with free wireless?

I'm fairly convinced Comcast throttles streaming video sites.

i have no problems on any other streaming site, and the bandwidth images show that nothing is being throttled, even if the download on other streams is HIGHER than on the justin.tv stream

But have you tried a different connection? Most people are not having this problem. I had this problem with Comcast (though with multiple different sites), but don't have it with DSL. I know you don't think it's your ISP, but it would be helpful to try different things to eliminate variables.

but there is no reason that it would make a difference, in fact it's the opposite, there are reasons saying that it would NOT make a difference.

do you know how frustrating it is to put this much work and effort into fixing something, get no response from the people who could actually help fix it, and then have random people telling you things like

Heh, sorry, I've had a long day, makes me touchy.

Something I've learned working with technical problems over the years is to try lots of different things, one at a time. Half the time the thing that fixes the problem is something that really shouldn't work. Hopefully it'll at least give you more information about the problem.
