it is unable to track my packet loss, this has to be the root of the issue, thank you so much i overlooked testing packet loss to california servers, but what do i do about that

I truly have no idea actually. Maybe it is your modem/router causing it. You could try connecting your pc directly to the modem and see if the problem still persists. If it's solved, you know your router's the weak link. If it's not, call your ISP =)

it could be a combination of both my isp or router or modem or their servers

they definitely aren't terrible by any means, but this is the most confusing problem i've ever had

I understand it's confusing.

But I think that the fact that my JTV is simply working even though i'm very far away from the servers prove it's not JTV's fault. I can't be sure, but I guess it has something to do with something between your pc and JTV (ISP, Modem, Router, wall connection etc.) You really should try different pc's on the network and connecting your pc directly to the modem.

Doing so will prove many theories wrong until you can be sure that it's justin.tv's fault

i'm going to retest multiple computers then test to see if there is lag on a stream while the packet loss error occurs

it might have just been a false error and the issue isn't actually related to packet loss

True. But you can't be too sure. Just check any singly aspect by testing different things. This is how I always fix my problems.

I take it back, I tried the above recommendation and my computer couldn't even connect to the Cali servers.. any one got a solution?

B34ST, try another pc connected directly to your modem. If the problem still persists, call your ISP. That's all I can say. If it's fixed, you might want to try a new router or else it's your pc. The Topic starter has quite a lot of 'possible fixes' in his first post. Check them out.

ive tried the pingtest around 30 times and i havent gotten that error again, i can't disconnect my internet at the moment (roomates would kill me) but i will try directly connecting to my modem as soon as i can

i will also try pingtesting other computers and testing for lag on other computers

i'll update as soon as i can

Good =) It could be that the outage to californian servers cause the problem. Some technical details:

Video streams work as follows: The stream sends a keyframe containing an image and then will just send frames containing data about how the pixels on the screen changed. Usually every 3-6 seconds a new keyframe is sent.

Whenever you miss a frame (can be caused by packet loss or short connection timeouts) the image will get messed up so the computer had to wait for a new keyframe and move on from there.

zYwi3c I have that too sometimes but that's because of his (destiny's) high quality stream (1080P meaning 1980x1080). Set his stream quality to 720p or even lower.

edit: also, don't worry about your connection. I have a high quality connection too but connecting to a californian server might give you a high ping. Particularly from countries located far away like Poland

Well, to LA i have like ~150 ping and 0 packet loss, but i hadnt any lags like month ago, this lag started week or smth ago. And im watching every stream on 1080p ( if its possible ).

On Destiny stream even switching to 720p or lower doesnt help ( well, for me ).

I can watch like 5 other streams and there will be 0 freezes, actually watching Tyler, Grubby, RageQuitTV and LzGamer ( all in best quality ) and 0 lag.

Yeah I have that too on his stream. Since his PC format actually. But for me switching to lower quality works on his stream so it should for yours as well.

I had a ton of lag/spike/drop issues with Comcast on the east coast when I used them. Switched to FIOS and haven't had any issues.

Just a thought.

Gonna check on 240/480p, i handt check on this quality yet.
Well, but its kinda weird, even Football matches in very high quality streamed from USA works without freezes ;<

I seem to be getting this now after Justin.tv changed their stream interface. No matter the quality, I keep getting random freezes on the stream. Sometimes I only get the audio with a frozen video.

it's justin.tv. some days i can't watch a single stream (even on 240p) on justin.tv while every other streaming site works perfectly. other days i don't have a problem. but it's not my connection.

too bad everyone seems to be switching over to justin.tv

i'm in canada, by the way
