I didn't really see any other topics on this and I just had a quick question.
I've been wanting to stream for awhile now, but I have a 1.5mb dsl connection and can't seem to make it work. My comp isn't the best in the world either, but even when I put everything on low I still lag pretty bad.
Is this because of my internet connection? Or is it really possible to stream with such a bad connection?

If 1.5 Mbps is your upload, you're fine if you keep to lower stream resolution and quality settings. Most 1.5 Mbps download ADSL plans have much much lower upload speeds that would not be sufficient for streaming.
With no other uploads/downloads ongoing, try http://www.speedtest.net/.

Yea, 1.1mb download speed, .8 upload speed. I think that's the problem why I'm not able to stream. Internet connection can't handle it.
|
you could probably stream at like 360p with .8 upload. Set your upload bandwidth to .4 and see what happens.
|
im pretty sure you can stream it but not good quality. also how do you set ur setting to like 360p or 1080? I use xsplit with justintv

I have 1 mg upload atm, And can stream in very good quality, Dont really know why theese other guys are saying different.

I was using ow3ned.tv with 3 quality, 500 kb bitrate, and 100 buffer size. Are these settings good or do I need to change something?
|
Those settings sound reasonable and should work with a 800 kbps upload. It won't hurt to try even lower settings though. Where I live, 1.5 Mbps download plans usually give you something like 192 kbps upload, which is definitely not enough...clearly this is not the case for you.
What were your computer specs? If you have a dual core or an older CPU, that's probably the problem, considering the upload speeds seem sufficient. You're trying to stream 1v1 matches?

How about a .67mb up using xsplit?
|
Whaaat? I am able to stream in 720p with 800kbs if I needed, I use around 1-1.1k normally now for it.
So answer is, with 1.5mbs upload, that is MORE than enough If it is watchable and smooth, who cares how good the quality is honestly. People watch GSL, you can get better quality than they do with like 500kbs

He has an upload speed of .8 please read the thread.

you can stream at 1mbps easily. more than enough dude.

I stream perfectly fine with a .3 upload speed at 360p and 25fps >.> People are really overestimating the connection that you need. Can actually text in SC2, and it would be even better if I had a dedicated graphics card.
