The 6Gv2 doesn't come with a palm rest; only the 7G. So, yes.

The headset and usb plugs are huge perks to me, but may not be for others.

all and all, great feel. I've never been a fan of wrist rests (yay carpal tunnel!). And if u need USB ports that bad, go spend 1 dollar on a hub.

I bought this model because all the other mech cherry keyboards out there were twice the price (shipping to Belgium was the major issue for filcos, steelseries fortunately were available easily through germany) or looked like christmas trees. I wanted something solid and simple and not too expensive for a first try so i went for this one, thinking if i like mechs, I'll invest again the future. Haven't tested it for sc2 yet. After 5-6 years on a 10$ membrane keyboard i can tell it will require some adaptation time and a slight change of typing technique. Typing feels very nice and smooth, wish it was a tiny bit louder or that there was a slight click/bump sound when the activation point has been passed because -and that is my main issue at this point but I guess I'll get used to it : I was used to bottoming out with membrane and bottoming out with the black cherries kind of slows down typing speed (at least for me right now) - fortunately bottoming out is not needed but getting the feeling on how much pressure has to be applied before fast jumping to the next key will probably take a few days/weeks before it is done properly. I guess the problem would be more or less the same with brown cherry, maybe slightlyless important, but i guess it all comes down to adaptation anyway..... Well, i only had it for a couple of hours, more feedback later on.... PS : right shift key could be a bit bigger, but again, i guess its all about getting used to it.

Why I got the 7g: - PS/2 and N-Key roll-over without adapter (I don't like adapter) - USB, which I use for my printer and USB tools, which I use only from time to time, but not for e.g. HDD, because it's just USB1.1 - audio I/O for headset - wrist rest which is very comfortable (doubles needed space on desktop) - layout, because I prefer the small backspace and large shift key If I would not use all these, I recommend a 6gv2 due to being the same basic keyboard. Typing on Cherry black keys is very comfortable, although many people say they are not the best for typing. (I type a lot on this keyboard due to my studies.) Hope this post will help you.

Because the mx blacks are very linear most of the time you have to bottom out the key to get it to activate, added on with the increased activation force it makes the steel series mech's not the best choice when it comes to rts. Sure lots of pro's use them (notably idra) but you might want to consider the black widow or das with blues. I know one person who bought the 6gv2 and returned it because for him it simply was inadequate for cevo P css (primarily) and felt awkward in sc2. the das is manufactured in germany so you would have had similar prices ![]() People seem to be divided when it comes to the use of blacks for SC. I can say that for fps like unreal tournament it should do a great job since double tapping seem to work like a charm. Don't know about starcraft, guess I'll test it tomorrow or some. But if players like Idra manage to play with it, I guess it can't be that bad. I'm a below average sc player (kind of new to the game) so my apm is rather low, which should give me enough time to bottom out if I need it anyway. After a couple of hours using the keyboard, and testing it to do some "speed typing" I can say that I type already faster than I ever did on a membrane keyboard, not by much (10-20% but hopefully it will still grow a bit) due to the fact that you don't need to bottom out to activate the key and the keys react very smoothly. The counterpart is that I tend to double tap a letter every 50 strokes or so because I'm not sure i pushed the key far enough....when I usually did. But if I manage to "trust my fingers" and let go, that's when this keyboard seem to shine - it is much more reactive and precise than my old dell membrane pos...it's hard to explain, it's a bit as if I am the one that has to try and catch up with the keyboard, whereas the old one was always behind (and my typing speed is not even high at all, around 50 wpm or so, wonder what a 100+ would think of it). So all in all I think it'll be reactive enough for me as time goes by. I'm sure blues and browns have their benefits too, and a slightly different feel. The 6gv2 was about 80 euros, the das was 120 or some...not much more but still....I didn't want to invest too much for a first mech keyboard in case i was disappointed and I'm not sure the sound level of the das would not be a problem (the 6v2 is pretty silent in comparaison from what info I could gather online). Black widow is certainly a good keyboard, in the same price range but the looks of it were a no go for me, too many flashy lights, extra keys I would never use, and so on, I wanted something that looked....simple, a bit retro. Now do I think it will make me a better starcraft player ? No, at least not at my level, maybe pros would benefit from the edge it brings to their apm (speed and precision) and general micro skills but for the average user, no. But it brings potential, if you come from membrane it will make you wanna work your apm/wpm which is not a bad thing and all in all is a nice object and makes you wanna try other keyboards (I'm sure I'll badly wanna try some blue and brown cherry in the future)

after 3 months of using the mx blacks, I love them. It takes a while but you'll get used to them.

Please read iNcontroL (nested) quote It is true that you should turn of your computer (shut down and power off) when unplugging PS/2 devices in general. You need to do this to ensure you motherboard does not take any damage. Because I'm a german and my technical english is not that good I will briefly explain in german, would be nice if sb. may translate for everybody. Thanks!

"Im a big sc2 player/fan, and I appreciate the support you guys give to the StarCraft 2 community, So I want to buy the keyboard that one of your sponsored players, IdrA, uses. Im interested in the 6gv2 or 7g, but I see they are out of stock, and I have two questions. 1. Do you have an ETA on more stock of these keyboards? 2. There is a "medal of honor" 6gv2 available for the same price, but the pictures for it look identical as the normal 6gv2... Can you explain the difference, or perhaps send me a picture of the actual keyboard? I do not play MoH, and do not want a MoH-themed keyboard. Thanks, and keep up the support for the Sc2 community! " their response. Hi, The MoH 6Gv2 is actually pretty much the same thing. Please be a non-Zerg player, because if you play Zerg, I will remove your account from this support system. The 6Gv2 and 7G should be in stock within the next few months. Regards, xxxxx :DDDD, so ima prolly buy the "medal of honor edition" if it doesnt look different.
