I searched the forum but couldn't find anyone talking about this problem I am having. I play on ultra which are the recommended settings for my gaming computer.
As I get more and more SCV's beams of light are shooting out all over the place from the scv's near my command center...it's as if they have a yellowish orange laser beam on the front of them and it shoots out in all directions as they move around and gets worse as more and more are created.
Is anyone else having or heard of this problem/glitch? In addition, I don't see the more graphic mushroom cloud like fire explosions when buildings take hit's or catch on fire in game play that I have seen when watching some of the live streams on here...any reason why? Any idea what could be causing me not to see the full graphic package?
I have a Gateway computer designed for gaming that is only maybe 18 months old running Vista 64 bit with an ATI Radeon 59xx series graphic card I just downloaded the latest driver and Microsoft X driver, the game recommends ultra settings which doesn't slow down performance at all when in large battles so I'm unsure what the problem is?
I used to have a problem kind of like this back in the day when I played WoW was a sign that my graphics card was beginning to go. You might want to turn down the graphics to see if that fixes the problem. As for the missing graphics I have no clue perhaps your SC2 folder got corrupted somehow and is causing these glitches instead of your card.
This is actually a side affect of decaying plutonium located in the minerals, the more you mine the more radiation exposure your scv's are getting which is not only bad for their health but it's causing them to meld with their scv armour suits and become a cyborg-esque like being. They are then able to use this to their advantage however and can actually create lasers so that they can improve harvesting. Not only this but muta harass? Speedlings? Dark Templars? Not anymore with your cyborg scv's. Don't think of it as a problem.
Oh ya lower graphics settings and consider getting a new graphics card because fdragon already stated correctly your problem.
I already installed the latest drivers for my graphics card and directx. I have played on low and medium while turning reflections off and the scvs are still shooting laser beams. Was considering uninstalling and reinstalling the game perhaps?
It is possible that the card is getting fried as I use this computer to multitable Poker tournaments while running a poker tracking software in the background. All my other games run fine though as far as I can tell.
Thanks.
edit: I guess I should add that I run two 27 inch monitors as well...hmm...maybe it's time for a graphic card upgrade? It would just seem that it should handle it fine on lower settings.
Looks like the animation for the scv fire is what's messing up or where the problem is showing up at least. You could try the repair tool i'm assuming there is one in the SC2 directory. If not then maybe a reinstall. Usually this might point to a graphics card/driver issue but you said none of your other games are having issues.
A friend of mine said this started happening to him when he updated his video card drivers, here's a youtube of it in action, (not my friends just some random dude)
