Looking for some headphones, mainly for gaming, listening to music and watching movies. My hat size is 7 5/8 or 7 3/4 depending on the brand of hat. I'm trying to spend up to $150 including tax and shipping. I don't need it to have an attached mic and probably would prefer it not to have one as i'll just use a stand-up mic.

Sony MDR-V6 Studio headphones.

They retail for $100 USD on the sony website but i got mine on sale for $60 from amazon. They are amazing headphones( over ear). They are stereo and are the most commonly used recording/mixing headphones in studios around the US due to their durability and sound quality. They have amazing range and are neutral in sound. That being said, if you prefer bass heavy headphones or mid heavy headphones, these aren't for you but since most studios use these to mix/edit songs, you'll hear songs how they were produced. They are extremely clear and probably the best headphones for the price. I use these everyday when i play my keyboard and midi controller, sometimes sc2.

Thanks Man. These will also fit my slightly larger than normal head as well?

Audio-Technica AD700 is another widely popular option among both gamers and the head-fi crowd, usually at around $80-100. Many people think it is very comfortable, except that it is too loose on many people with smaller heads. It's open (non-isolating) and a little bit weak on bass quantity and quality to a small extent, but aside from that, the sound quality is quite good.

MDR-V6 clamps fairly hard, as it's a closed phone popular in studios. I'm not sure if it'd work with somebody with a large head.

I've honestly just given up on headphones because of the size of my head in comparison to most headphones, I am greatly satisfied by just using ipod earbuds for gaming and music.

I had the AD700 and they are great, I have a slightly big head too and they never slip and I can barely feel them. I think the bass quality is fine though and the overall sound quality is great. I just wish I had enough extra desk space to just lay them somewhere when I get up, they are fairly big

Link to them. They are only $87 on Amazon.

They are pretty large too
If you are looking for something a bit cheaper

mod it a bit (take some of the felt off the drivers) and they are great :>

I bought it off amazon for $54 but its 5 dollars more right now

I've got to recommend the Sennheiser HD555s. Great headphones I've had a pair for about 3 years now.

Slightly over budget, but the audio quality should be pretty good, and it looks cool!

For that budget, get an HD280.

I'm 6'5" which is pretty big and they fit no problem. Only extended halfway on the headband.

MDR v6 isn't a bad option, as they sound decent and the headband is supported internally by a rather surprisingly malleable piece of metal, so you can bend it to suit your head size/shape.

But really, any metal-headband headphones should be very easily adjusted to your head size or shape.

The problem with alot of Sennheiser headphones (and indeed a lot of cheaper brands too), is that the headbands are often made of a single plastic strip, which, while generally flexible enough to accommodate most heads, is quite brittle when pushed to extremes.

I've been using the Razer megladon for quite some time, and I love it!

The 7.1 surround sound is great when watching movies/Playing some games, and easily switching to 2.0 when listening to music and playing DIFFERENT games, it does run about 150$, but it does everything you can want. It's also very flexible/adjustable so your head size shouldn't be a problem!

I do not personally like the razer stuff that much... but I do know it will fit larger heads quite well... My siberia's are pretty tight and I have a pretty small head.. granted they can expand to you're head fine.. you might feel like you are in some kind of vice with them on.

A big thumbs down to Steel Series Siberia X2's : Amazon

While they do fit a larger head, the ear cups are too shallow and the tips of my ears hurt like hell after a while. Aside from that, for the price, the quality of sound and manufacturing is pretty bad. They are a bit better than my old 20$ Sony MDR v-150

Steelseries are very good but they do get a little bit too hot for your ear after a few hours of gaming.

Why do you game for a few hours straight. Zeesh take breaks every like 2 hours.

The AKG k271 MKII's are excellent headphones. They come with 2 different cords, a long one (never really needed unless you DJ or something) and a short one that's like a old wired curly phone cord, its really cool cause it stretches very easily so its very small and convenient to carry.

They also come with an automatic sound cutoff, so when you take them off the sound stops playing which is amazing. They're very comfortable and I've worn them for many hours without having to take them off. Very durable, and solid, and quite baller looking, although they are quite large. I don't have that big of a head buff I have A LOT of hair (black afro) and they still fit me.

Sound quality is top notch (that is what you get for $170 brand new, which is the reduced price since they've been on the market for awhile) though you should easily be able to get them from e-bay or some other discount site for <$150 brand new. The highs are amazing, mids are amazing, but the lows/bass are probably one of the best on the market. I originally got them for listening to hip hop so bass was really important, and these don't disappoint. They also block sound very well, if you have em on medium - high volume you can't here any outside noise. Comparable to noise-cancelling headphones.

Highly recommended.
Check em out here.

I strongly recommend against the Sennheiser HD555 if you have a big head. They're relatively cheap for the quality they offer, and they're very comfortable, but under the stress of grasping a biggish head (like mine), they will break. I took the utmost care of my pair, but eventually it started cracking at the part where the ear cups meet the headband, Eventually, they broke. Googling a bit I found out that many other people have had their HD555 break at the exact same spot, and this is a design flaw that Sennheiser have recognized and consequently fixed for their newer models (eg the HD448).

Not saying its a guarantee the HD555 will break, because I know people have had them last ages, but I wouldn't chance it if you have a big head.

I have audiotechnica ATH-A700's. They are absolutely amazing. I hate headphones that smash your head to the point of a headache. These are by far the most comfortable headphones I've ever tried, at times I've forgotten I have them on. However, they have no microphone built in.
111$ on Amazon

Here is a review from head-fi.org i just grabbed one of the first i saw but there are plenty of others.

Don't get the Audio Technica AD-700s. They're nice but the bass is really weak.

It all depends on what you want though, and what type of music you listen to.
Ultrasones tend to have a beautiful bass and are awesome for electronic but lack for other genres.
Akgs are generally neutral and good for rock / jazz
Beyerdynamic are good overall, and are really strong for rock / metal

I have the AKG 240 mkiis which I got for $200 and I love them them, but I use them almost solely for music. Their bass feels a little recessed, so if you're a bass head, electronic, or rap fan then look elsewhere.

Btw audio technica ad-700s are huge if u have a big head. My AKGs are also pretty big and extremely comfortable.

The AKG k271 MKII's are excellent headphones.

They are, but they're extremely similar to the akg 240s, and I'd recommend the 240s over them (although from what I could tell when I tried them the difference was very minute...just a slightly different sound signature (240s were more neutral, better mids, 271s had slightly harsher cymbals)
Morrow on ZvP: "I'm not very confident in general vs Protoss because of the imbalance (Yes its imbalanced, get over it)."
