Hey folks. First thread here on TL. Tried using the search feature but couldn't find anything concerning this subject.
Let's post our StarCraft II setups here. I'll go with mine :
EDIT: Now that I think about it.. it doesn't technically have to be a 'StarCraft II setup' but rather just your setup where you game. Shame I can't edit the title.

Uhmm, how did you play with mouse and keyboard on different distances ?

Used to it after a decade of gaming I guess? =/

Either the Deathadder or the Lachesis. Can't remember for some reason. Shame on me... but they both look very alike.
i once won a league level game of wc3 while sitting on 2 mattresses thrown on a floor, playing on a laptop which was sitting on a piece of plywood held up by 3 chairs. also i had no mousepad that game.
Nice, carde, you have the dual monitors, 1 landscape 1 portrait setup like I do -- I don't see that very often (I do that at work and everyone comments about how odd it is). It's wonderful for coding.
My setup is either the dual monitors like that (although I usually end up disabling the portrait monitor when I play, as I find the game runs faster when it doesn't have to share my sub-par video card over 2 monitors), with an original microsoft intellimouse explorer (from 2001) and a microsoft natural ergonomic keyboard. This setup is when I play at the office during lunch time.
Or at home, sitting on the couch (next to my wife watching tv) with a the laptop on my lap and a cheap logitech mouse trying to navigate the contours of the couch. Whenever you beat me, I will blame it on my bad mouse setup.
Figured I would break the trend of nice setups. I'm using the boards and box to get the monitor to a reasonable height. You may notice the coffee stains on my mouse pad, it's old, I like coffee, things happen.
You may also notice the plethora of sticky notes all over my monitor. They contain some build orders I don't have memorized, random tips to myself from watching replays and some building hit points for scouting off a 9 pylon. Things like 8 pool, 10 gate, what have you.
Logitech Mx518 mouse, some rosewill keyboard and that's my starcraft notebook off to the side. I don't think my girlfriend appreciates the look in her(our) living room, but it got me to Diamond, so it can't be all bad right?
Edit: Yes, that says Grimace on my keyboard. A friend made a keychain for me out of ram but it was too sharp to go in my pocket, so on the keyboard it goes!
Edit2: Also, there is another mouse off to the left for emergencies. Don't lose a game due to a failing mouse!
its much more convenient to align your mouse to the right of your keyboard >_>.. I really dont know why people put their mouse like that >_> my set up includes everything except headphones and a mousepad. i use earphones though :D
My desk is so terrible. Makes me have to sit on an angle and i hate my monitor being raised. Where my keyboard goes is also where the desk is joined from 2 angles and one side is higher than the other...
Not the best picture (from my phone) but you get the gist. Play is on the left and the 2 on the right are work. Also have my Macbook Pro (also for work) to the right out of the frame.

I see a lot of these setups and I am reminded of why there is certainly a market for inperson coaching...
Guys.. go to lans please. I know I am being egotistical or w/e but there is certainly a commonly accepted effective set up for gaming SC2/SCBW. Additionally each time I see ergonomic keyboards/mice I want to snap childrens legs.

:D ppl will do things how they want to, without experimentation and variation how will new techniques come around.
I'd take a picture of mine but i don't own a camera anymore, not like i ever used the dam thing.

Can't use the back ones, since i plug my speakers quite often t_t. I need one of those audio plug switchers.
It's on the floor cause it cant be on my table, it's too big and heavy lol. The case has filters, so it's ok, I take them out, wash them and put on again.

Neat as in clean or neat as in awesome? Cleanliness is necessary for success, can't Blink your way to victory with trash in the way! Also to be fair, I did see a bed just a few posts ago...
However, I do live with my girlfriend, so I'm pretty much required not to be a slob. Though with that said, I wouldn't call my desk neat or anything. What does your setup look like? It can't be that messy can it?

It's all about quickly moving everything from the immediate area, and then be careful about the angles when you take the photo. :-)
it's nothing special, random clutter around the monitor including fingernail clippers, ps3 controller and some mail, yay! i really need to get a new monitor, though. so small . also screw your brand new fancy "gaming" keyboards, i still use my packard bell keyboard from 1998 whaddup.

Is that Minas Tirith in the pic or is it just me? Oo
This is a genuine college student's gaming area. You can tell by the build order paper slid partial under the computer. I was touching the wall when I took the photo so this is all you can see.

Awwww yea the concrete walls of a college dorm ... fond memories ... fond memories.
My other monitor is back in Michigan sitting in my grandpas basement. I will probably go pick it up when I go back to visit for a holiday. If you look closely, you can see how old/worn out my mouse is. Logitech logo completely worn down. I recently replaced the mouse feet. I hope this mouse never dies! It has held up for 5 years.
That big white cord is for my AC unit. The outlet below the window doesn't work so I have about 10 feet of extention cable running to the other side of the room. Yay for shitty NYC apartments!
edit:

Whats wrong with Ergonomic mice? The MX-518 is ergonomic and it is absolutely amazing. I agree on the keyboard, though. Don't understand how people game game on a split keyboard :O

how do you live with your tower so far away
How many times do you turn it on or off or plug things in.
Frankly i just turn on my computer once a day and i never come near the case ever again, I have a USB hub and crap like that i rarely plug things in or use a cd anymore.
OP how can you stay with you're hands comfortable? You're left hand must me longer than the right 1 or it must really be painful staying a few hours there.

Nothing special, however - I did find out I had a DVD under my desk by looking at the picture!
Need to get the cables sorted out at some point but I'm such a lazy bastard that it will most likely never get done. The second screen behind the xbox is hooked up to the computer that I use as a server, its sitting on the left under the desk but I couldnt get myself to take a picture of it. The cable infestation is even worse under the desk.

Well there's around 12 people involved in the tourney, so the computers are obviously easy to come by. As for the tv and monitors, my room mate is a GeekSquad technition for bestbuy, so he got a huge discount on the TV, and monitors for free.
Wow, I'm so jealous of all these nice computers! Such beautiful desks too! Sadly, I cannot compete against such competition. Especially when my monitor is fueled by a 32 MB integrated graphics card. Sad times for me...

I took the pic for a friend who also enjoys zombies and porn back when I made the setup months ago. So all I really did was find the pic and scribble over it on paint.
So... I'm actually *much* lazier than you give me credit for.
Pics getting old now so the monitor on the left is now my main one and the other one died, it use to just be for xbox.
I hate this desk so so so so much and i don't use that awful black keyboard for gaming, i use my old HP one. I always am that clean as well.
I hate those kinds of hats as well but story time i bought it at a music festival because my head was burning off and then Jim Ward from At The Drive-In/Sparta signed it so it forever stays with me.

Not really a SC2 Setup as I didn't purchase SC2, because I personally thought it sucked in comparison to SC1, and I do have a MacBook Pro as well but as you can see it is not in those pictures.
yes that's right, no widescreen and ONE logitech usb speaker because the connection to the other one broke. Currently using a $5 mouse. I do like the illuminated logitech keyboard, however.
I play on a laptop in my lab/office at school... There's a ton of notes, coffee cups, pencil shavings, and cables on my desk. Just to the left of me, there is a half eaten cup of oatmeal. To my right, a pair of neon, multicolored safety googles and an oversized, souvenir pencil I got from Hawaii.
Just above eye level, there's more academic articles, a Blade 2 DVD, and a pair of socks that a former Nigerian grad student left behind.
Directly behind me is an ancient fume hood from the 80's. Occasionally birds get into it by entering via a small vent in the department roof and get trapped. It's hard to micro when there's a squawking animal directly behind you. Yes, those white dots you see are feathers.

that drawer is usually shut, it's just where I keep my camera that I like never use so it was open while I was taking the picture
edit: I guess my keyboard is a little closer to the left and more parallel with my mousepad when I play, I move it around a lot though because it's more to the side if I'm doing homework to make room for a book

This is, uh, really...random, but I need a good computer desk as I'm moving soon. I haven't been able to find anything I like at any of the places I've been to, and frankly I'm not trusting a $40 desk. Thoughts? ^^;;

My setup: 42" Plasma screen, Panasonic 21.5" BenQ screen connected to the PS3 dual 17" screens on the side (one not in the pic, 90 degrees rotateable) Sorry for the bad quality, but I lack a camera and my webcam sucks.
Feel my pain. It got down to 0.14Mb/s dl last night during peak hours. The residence internet is absolutely appalling. I will lobby to improve it if I get on student council.

Haha man.. I can't wait till I move out and can do something like this (probably a smaller scale, though who knows!)
Guys can I ask a stupid question...Why do you need dual screens when you are gamers? I can see so many of those here in here, what do you use that for?
I'm liking the post-its on the monitor, i just got a pile of scrap paper next to the keyboard, time to get those important notes stuck on the monitor methinks.

I only just set up dual screens and so far i find it very convenient for just general use. I like having separate browsing windows up or say my media player to the side. It has many more practical uses for certain types of work i imagine but i only set mine up because i now have the room. I like having vent to the side as well while i'm in game. It's also great when i'm watching streams.

Dual screen was amazing to have in college. Now I could live with one screen, but I have 2 so why not use both?

When I jokingly asked my opthamologist what I could do to prevent headaches with late night gaming sessions, he said to put some ambient light around the monitor, like a desk lamp. He didn't quite have neon lighting in mind, but its helped tremendously and for that I thank him. I reccomend some ambient lighting for anyone having eye strain from staring at a bright lcd for lengths of time, it eliminated a lot of issues I had playing MMOs and SC late into the nights.

Whats wrong with Ergonomic mice? The MX-518 is ergonomic and it is absolutely amazing. I agree on the keyboard, though. Don't understand how people game game on a split keyboard :O
Usually dont post twice in a row, but thats the mouse i use! same color and model and everything. Love that thing. I'll post a pic of mine tomorrow. too baked - _-
Spotted someone with a Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann background, epic. Also Siffer uses the background I've used for quite a while, funny to see something like that being used all over the world.
My setup changes every now and then, because the only thing I really use are my laptop (acer 8930g), cheap-ass 23 euro logitech speakers and my logitech m500 mouse. When I finally get my room (living in a caravan for another week), I'll make a picture ^^.
Yaay. Keyboard: Logitech K120 (15$ Soft buttons I like it :D) Mic: Some Dynex one. Headphones: Skullcandy Hesh (50$ Meh, too lazy to get siberias or something) Mouse: Razer Abyssus Mousepad: Razer Goliathus Speed (cats scratched it all up though :\ I want replacement QcK+ (EG)) Monitor: HP2009m Computer: It sucks. It's below the desk surface. Double yaay. I guess it's pretty comfortable for me. Screw ergonomics I can get myself comfortable
Nice desk Only problem I have with it is the small size of the keyboard/mouse tray. Regular or large sized mouse pads really cramp the area or go over the edge.
Use my MX Revolution when booted in OS X and use the Abyssus when booted into Windows (for gaming). Use a MacPro3,1, nothing special about any of the peripherals.

Compact I-Rocks Cherry Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (note the long ctrl key and no windows button hehe). Razer Vespula Two Sided Mouse Pad and the Razer Imperator! Critique my setup!
Someone should make a thread that includes a picture of your setup, and also a list of your computer specs / config. Something like the post above me. Interesting to see what people's build are.
Esproductions - Sick case. Would be better in black + red IMO, but it's still nice as hell. Props to all you guys with great cable management inside the cases. My case is just a mess of wires. Maybe one day I'll take it apart and fix it up, but for now, I am extremely lazy. This is after cleaning up my desk a bit, btw...
Windows Vista - 64 bit (Aww yeah! Will be getting 7 soon) Cooler Master HAF 922 Intel Core i5-760 G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB GTX 460 768 MB Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 Mobo Corsair 650W Power Supply Samsung 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD (will be adding 1 TB Velociraptor soon)
Cables aren't that messy in the back =/. Speakers will be getting replaced by a headset soon so yay for less wires then . And blah blah blah, clean front fan. I know. It's getting a cleaning Saturday. I opened her up and cleaned out everything about 2 weeks ago and completely forgot about that front fan. It's not that big of a deal anyway. My computer won't overheat cause of one fan.
New Setup in 2-3 years time. By then, I'll be out of college and with a job, so it should be pretty sweet. I'm thinking at least 2 monitors, a sick ass computer, 32" TV for streaming and maybe even more. Will have to wait and see .
Other stuff not pictured: Xbox 360, PS3, 32" Samsung TV, Canon Rebel XS DSLR, 3 Printers that you can almost see completely (laser, inkjet, label). I think that's all the nerdiness in my room for now.
I like things which are easy on the eyes and relaxing for the brain. The lights on top of shelf might seem distracting but they are out of view when you sit in the chair.
Build by me. i5 quad core. 4 gb ram. ATI 5850 video card, 1 gb of ram. 1 tb WD Black series HD. Beastly. mx518 Saitek cyborg keyboard.....LOVE it. Steelseries 3H headphones. Love those as well.
Edit: Oh yea, and my beastly cello in the background.
It's actually a moveable divider wall between my living room and bedroom, not a closet. I leave it closed because there's a couch against the other side of it.
same case, red Radeon card, blue gigabyte mobo. I thought you jacked my rig for a second.
I recently cut the LEDs off those fans tho. They're annoying.
Here's mine:
HD5850 wasn't out when I took this picture, X1950PRO was the placeholder. Other than that it's an OC'd i5-750 (4Ghz).
Looking at your pic some more I can see I mounted my power supply upside down, lmfao. Also I notice I still have the stock intel cooler on this picture. Upgraded to a Gelid Tranquillo since.

There is a little bit of room underneath, but normally I am just about a foot away more than normal. Its my little brother's old crappy desk, I just moved out on my own, so it will be one of my upgrades in the future It also has wheels, so it shakes like a SOB when I try to APM spam at all, which sucks.
To the guy asking if I OC: not yet, although I plan to in the future. It is so fast as it stands, there is no need to. I can stream/edit/play whatever without any lag as of right now.
Can we just give it up and call this a battlestation thread? It's funny given teamliquid's ban on memes how many have managed to sneak in under the guise of something else.

I rarely use the mac for gaming, I bought it mainly for mobile use. SC2 runs on the lowest possible resolution, everything set to "low", but even then it's not too reliable in big battles. Magic Mouse + gaming = big no.
The macbook is by far the best and so far most reliable laptop I've ever bought, but I wouldn't want a mac as a desktop. It's just too expensive and
My PC is able to run Metro 2033 maxed out (except Advanced DoF) without too much trouble (30 fps minimum, which is fluid enough for a non-competitive, single player game).
I'm incredibly fond of mac keyboards. I've never typed on anything better (that didn't cost more than €60). Same for the Sidewinder. Probably not the best gaming mouse out there, but I looked for something that flowed better than my old standard laser mouse (from microsoft), but still looked casual, since I don't like Razer's designs and pricing that much). The Sidewinder is also perfect for the grips I use (I vary between palm and claw depending on the circumstances). At 2000dpi it's not slow, but not too sensitive either.
I spent a whole lot on both setups (more than I like, in hindsight), and I'm now looking to not spend anything on tech at all for a few months.. My savings account hasn't got enough money on it. Tech is a cool hobby, but sure as hell an expensive one. I hope my PC will last me for at least another three years.
Oh yeahn the books on the right are:
With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa, by Eugene B. Sledge (Dutch translation): read this book and I assure you that you'll never, ever want to either go to war or experience it -and while your at it, watch "The Pacific" by Spielberg and Hanks.
Collapse, by Jared Diamond (Dutch translation): incredibly good read if you're interested in the decline of civilisations seen from a ecological point of view.
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand: the book on which Bioshock was based. Still need to finish it, but it's been a good read so far.

Electrician here, lol.
"Dirty" power in a house is pretty common....and almost unfixable, because it's usually on the service side of your house/aka, power company. If, however, it is like you say, and is only in a corner of your house, then that means that something else is on that circuit, like an AC unit or other device with a motor, you have a loose connection somewhere, or a few other problems, most of which are really hard to diagnose.
The simplest solution, though, is just to get a UPS, aka, battery backup. It automatically conditions the power for you unless you get a really cheap pos, as it provides you with a solid steady 120(or w/e the voltage is for you) off of battery power instead of directly from your house power. That should fix just about any problems you have with power quality. Actually "fixing" the power in your house would usually require a quite expensive setup that continually monitors your power, and runs it through filters and such, and usually are more trouble than they are worth just for something like a set of headphones.
thanks for the tips. i was thinking about picking up a UPS anyways. but i really think its my power bar from 1983, i also have my computer, 2 monitors, halogen lamp, ps3, modem, router and cell phone charger hooked up to it.

Oh, lol, that's a lot of power supplies on a single circuit, that farks up your power quality as well. It wouldn't be a problem with your power bar, those are about as simple as you can get electrically, there's really nothing that can go wrong with them short of breaking entirely. It's the whole circuit it's plugged into that would have the same power quality problem. A UPS only for your headphones is really the best solution.
Lots of clean and nice desks here, noone else having an old door thats lying on 2 sawhorses as a desk? When i moved here i had no desk ready and since then (more than a year ago) didn't bother to get a real desk.

It's nice that I can actually sleep with it turned on, and it runs SC2 pretty good, I think.
^Well, 60$ for the skull candy and 2$ for the microphone + 10 min labor time and 0.50$ of tape. Thats cheap . Any way, if people can hear you,it's a good head set !!

Baller setup though, similar thing I'll be aiming for once I pick up my third Samsung LED. Possibly wallmount a tv as well if I have the space, we'll see.
55 inch tv duplicating the screen on the first monitor, both screens are 21.5 Samsung LED's and I'm going to be adding a third to the setup soon as well as a new desk. The main thing that sucks is paying $100 for active display port adapters...

My setup is quite similar to this one. I'm using a dell laptop, quite old, and when it runs SC2, it heats up so much that I could probably pour some waffle batter into the keyboard, close the lid, and make a keyboard shaped waffle. Oh and my comma key broke, so I pulled off the ']' key and put it over the comma spot.

You totally do look like L...
The comparison has been drawn quite a lot of times yeah. I was never interested that much in Death Note (The whole series is one big Xanatos Roulette, I really can't stand that because it just looks silly if you think a little about it.) and only know the series because they all kept telling me that.
But ever since the series got popular people've been accusing me of ripping his style, man, I was like L when it was still underground, I'm far too hipster for that.
Doesn't really bother me so much so I'll live with it ^^

hmmmm, pretty good
Not a fan of the large case tho, especially the side window that shows the psu. What kind of psu do you have? if i was spending that much money for SLI i would get at least a gold rated PSU; also seems you got a fully modular psu so probably is decent. What brand are the case fans?

whats the psu? seems on the mid range end cus of the the light... lol
@both, whats the sound like from those closed loop heatsinks? also, FLASHY LIGHTS ARE UGLY.
it's in the spoiler @_@ and I want to replace it, ocz 800w. it's old don't hate me, hate the psu with me.
EDIT: Oh, and the sound on my H70 is virtually non-existent, to me anyway. My old 280 I had to keep at 100% fan speed and it was loud, so this is very tame.
The power supply is a thermaltake black widow that I picked up at Bestbuy. The only fans that aren't stock are the fans on the rad and one fan in the front for intake which doesn't glow that I also bought at Bestbuy.
The red fan that is on the rad I brought over from my old case that was absolutely awful, and is actually somewhere in the older posts of this thread, lol.
On the closed loop sound, the actual pump doing it's thing is inaudible through my case fans unless you really want to hear it and put your ear right up to the computer. With the second fan on the rad it sounds like both of them are just one case fan. But that's just me.
The case isn't really that big, I think the pictures make it look bigger than what it really is. It's just a mid-tower case. :o

First one is my 360, which I'm enjoying the gears 3 beta in a bit. I also use the screen when watching any high quality streams, and the GSL. Second one is my general setup, the guitar when I'm not pwning the bronze league. Third is the 'top itself, One of these is on its way, should be here by next Monday!
I use Turtle Beach X41's for everything, but I was wearing them when I took the pictures!
Fourth is my work area, should really be revising for exams about now....

I wish I lived in Nowheresville Saskatchewan Canada. That guy has the sickest setup I've ever seen :D. Hmm my setup really isn't my own, since I'm still in high school I use the stuff my parents got like 7 years ago. The monitor is about 14 inches, the mouse and keyboard are both compaq models that came with the computer, the cheap kind they throw in so it looks like its a really good deal. My speakers broke so I get sound by plugging a pair of cheap sony earbuds into the front of the computer, and I don't use a mousepad. I used to have one but it was really cheap that my dad got like 20 years ago, and the mouse drags and freezes when on it, so now I just use it on the desk, which is wood and kind of old. The bottom of the mouse gets gunk on it sometimes and it doesn't move all that fast. Hoping to get some new gear once I start placing well in tournaments.
PS. Have you come to hate Dell as much as I have yet?
hey i think we have the same laptop ...
does your guys overheat and crush with this freaky ass buzzing sound?? b4 i got my system all set up i was trying to game with my laptop, and i know the specs on it are way beyond min. so it should have game just fine and that POS just overheats grrrr lol
I'd post a picture of my setup but I'd probably get laughed at. Home from school over the summer, I am using a pull-out desk from a cabinet in my room that I've had since I was born. It still has ninja turtle stickers all over it. So the pull out table comes down to be parallel with the floor and it barely has enough room to fit the width of my laptop and my throwaway cloth mousepad. I have an MS Blue mouse that I've had for 9 years now (the oil from my fingertips have rubbed off the paint where they touch it), and a pretty new Megdalon headset.
In the near future I'm looking to buy a desk. That'll solve everything
My baby. It's pushing to a 32" Vizio HDTV. Rat7 Mouse on a Vespula mousepad, Lycosa Keyboard (minus the software so it actually works), and a Plantronics Gamecom 367 Headset.
2nd monitor is just temporary, planning on buying another one of the largest one soon. I actually play on the left one, watching a stream when i took this.

I might have posted in here already, but i got a cup of coffee, and a plastic vup i drink water from. My computer sitting it the worst spot ever on top of a raised part of my desk. I have speakers hidden behide my moniter, some first aid stuff and deoterant. My desk is kinda messy right now.

Simple set up for me. Trying out a new mouse now, but I'll most likely stick with the Deathadder. I'm about to upgrade the tower, pretty much everything but the case, so it's not worth showing the inside.
Acer 24" screen, Logitech K800 illuminated keyboard(awesome Btw), Cyborg Rat 7 Mouse( best mouse I've ever owned)
Ive got the screen up off the desk to relieve neck strain during those long sessions, it helps big time. Its kinda hard to see but I also have wireless Wii IR Sensor I use it in conjuction with the Dolphin Wii emulator and a 2$ bluetooth adapter from amazon. You have to be a little savvy to set it up, but it sure beats buying one = )

Nice Rig dyonehara. PSU is quite overkill (400w ish) though. Sick setup overall. For 3 monitors you need a display port monitor (or atleast thats what is needed for amd)
Not as fancy as what some other people got... but here is mine!
Full set up
My SC2 PC
I use a TV as a monitor, although it is only a 27" TV (big for a monitor, but not so much for a TV ). Also, I use my laptop basically as a second monitor when I am gaming and what not.
I've got nothing too fancy, I'm probably more of an xbox player than most people and thats about it. ┐('~`;)┌ I do attribute my nimble and accurate fingers to the countless hours playing guitar hero though. Also, despite the fancy Halo: Reach poster I actually prefer Black Ops over Reach, I was a hardcore Halo fanboy for years but Reach just killed the series for me, can't wait for the Combat Evolved re-furbish.
My wallpaper since you can't see in the pictures (as well as a beautiful atmosphere) can be found here: http://rain.nxe7.com/ :3
As for the equipments, the tower weighs as much as I do (I'm pretty light, and im exaggerating a little, but it's heavy!). The tablet is a Bamboo, since I got it I rarely draw with actual pencil/pad anymore. <3 The white box is just a cheap router, but the little egg shape is an xbox-to-pc wireless adapter, which I use to do sweet fanciness. The bear's name is Rino, don't diss. My 360 Elite. The yellow book is a Scott Pilgrim vs. The World sketchpad which (as consistent with before) doesn't have a single sketch in it. Propel is my gamer fuel, how many of you even drink that? :O The rest is normal office stuff, as well as a nice stack of xBox games.
The keyboard is a Logitech G510 which I got for Christmas from the family, its not really a good keyboard for Starcraft, but its my fault for not specifying which one I wanted. the mouse is a god-knows-how-old cheap logitech, which has served me well.
The monitor is actually a Samsung 24" HD TV, which doubles as my xBox display.
I use an ergonomic mousepad and I love it, I don't play FPS on my PC so I don't care about dropping pixels, so I can play on a stupid-high sensitivity and rely on the ergo pad to give me a stationary pivot for accuracy (and comfort).
Also for any of you xBox gamers out there, has anything like this ever happened to you? + Show Spoiler +
I found out it was my thumb fingernail digging into it, now I make sure to keep that finger trimmed down as much as possible and it doesn't happen anymore, I was just wondering if anyone else has done this or if I really am just that weird

Different levels for mouse and keyboard, monitors at table level etc etc
To elevate the monitor I just used useless books like "Jamie Olivers cooking book" and "Business Studies".
The cheapo pink clock on the right was bought in Iraq by a friend who served there.
But my pride and joy is the self-made mouse bungie. I thought about buying one but then realised that if I just tape the mouse cord on the monitor I basically have a mouse bungie.

At first I found what you did on the wall (side of the bed) amazing but then I thought you must break stuff when you have a girl over.
That looks like an ergonomic nightmare. Either your keyboard is way too low, or you monitor is way too high. I'm betting it's the latter.
I'm honestly all too used to it. I don't look at my keyboard at all. If my keyboard was any higher, I wouldn't be able to rest my elbow on my armchair. I'm practically lapboarding except for the piece of wood in between my legs and the keyboard.

Thanks

After seeing those other Filco keyboards, I really want to get some better looking replacements for mine.
I also really want to get some smaller speakers, so I can put the case on the floor, always feels like it's in the way where it is at the moment. I think the floorstanders are wasted hidden away like that.
Just an update. Finally hooked up my third monitor yesterday. My new total screen real-estate is 5760*1200 (almost 7 million pixels). I have lots of cables, not really sure how to manage them with my desk being basically a square plank of wood. Advice appreciated on that front.

My tip, get yourself a filing cabinet (if you don't have one you need one anyway) and it goes next to your desk. PC goes on top of filing cabinet. I'm not sure where your speakers would then go, but at least you get all your desk space and your PC doesn't have to be on the ground.

I dont think I can compete with so many ballers on this thread so Ill try!
Ok, Im bringing in my big guns, so lets begin! My XPS L502x, my wireless router, my Razer Mamba 2012, my Steelseries mousepad (Kerrigan vs Zeratul), I couldnt get it on photo, but my view is amazing, there is an airport nearby so I often see planes landing and I love it! And also for those of you wondering what that white thing holding the mouse wire is tape, I taped the mouse cord to the wall to get myself a cheap mouse bungee surprisingly it works perfectly!
My 22" TV/Monitor, cmon, who doenst love playing SC2 and watching a stream ad the same time? Under the TV is my HDTV decoder, so yeah, I hope thats baller enough for you guys Hanging on the TV is my Razer Megalodon, and hidden in the bottom right corner, my Nintendo 64! 2 controllers and the cartridges in a cover I made so they dont get dust in them. But since its very ancient, its not at its best (anyone who had one remembers the struggle it is to get it to start)
Taking a closer shot of my showoffs: My Wings of Liberty Collectors Edition, My Ferrari models, a red F40 and a grey F50, both are original (brought all the way from Italy!) and given to me by my grandma, gotta love her! And last but not least, Spike! My lego robot which is out of bateries XD

Okay so.. I have a really ancient 20 dollar nokia phone (It's not that i don't have the money for a smartphone, it's just that.. I don't know - It phones and texts just fine as it is!) so I was forced to take a photo with my sucky webcam.

Another simple but effective setup. I'm forced to use my 16:10 monitor at the moment because I'm using a laptop that only has a mini display port -> dvi adapter atm. Keyboard is filco tenkeyless (mx browns), I prefer the smaller size so my hands are closer together when playing. The mousepad helps a lot to keep my right wrist comfortable after many hours.
This is my setup and it's all because of this game called Starcraft II. My cousin tried to get me into Brood War when I was young, but I did not have the hardware to play it. Plus I was too busy ownin' up noobs in Goldeneye. Anyways, I have always been a console gamer. I will only play a game on a PC unless the game is exclusive.

I couldn't figure out the best position to have the monitors haha. I may get one of those dual monitor arm thing as the stands are a bit wobbly but apart from that they're great monitors (LG IPS234V).
Yeah, I'm using Windows 8 and prefer the speed and snapiness of it but I hate the Metro UI so I got a program called Start8 to return the Start bar. Having a taskbar on both screens is a feature of Windows 8, but I've just changed it so that the left monitor (Secondary one) doesn't have a taskbar on it anymore.

My brain doesnt work like that. Right to left
I have these really annoying cable management 'holes' in my desk so I can't move the monitors over. Once I get a new desk, I plan on having the left monitor as the primary one and having them a bit straighter as well
Whats with all the steelseries mice on goliathus and qck+? I thought even the opticals performed better on plastic than cloth, or does it just not matter to most people?
I guess it makes sense on some level - people usually buy the sensei, xai, kinzu etc for reasons other than having the most consistent sensor so a little performance drop wont be minded as much by them

I very much like the shape of the sensei I have in that pic and I'm not sure if that had any bearing on my feeling of it being more accurate than other mice i've owned but I ALWAYS use 6/11 windows sens no mouse accel and somewhere between 1000-1100 dpi. Between this sensei, a razer deathadder, logitech g5, razer lachesis, razer diamondback, i've felt that the sensei has performed the best. I also own a steelseries 4hd i think its called(textured plastic) mat and I just use this goliathus cloth mat for comfort mostly, I like the feel better and I have not noticed ANY difference in precision.
I stream on twitch.tv/danleesc if you don't believe it's decently accurate(shameless plug I'm sorry :[ )
Yea you can have decent accuracy but its kinda fact that sensei performs measurably if not notably better on hard plastic - How could you think that the sensei performs better than deathadder? I see a lot of people refusing to buy DA for build quality etc (not that i had any problems after 10k hours with one) but its also kinda fact that the deathadder has higher maximum control speeds and more consistent tracking - Steelseries xai, sensei, they both have a variable amount of acceleration:
That completely fucks up any possibility of consistently being accurate within the last few %. The mice simply track wrong, too far by an inconsistent amount - there is no way to account for it in either software or muscle memory - It's also aparantly worse on cloth pads compared to plastic. Deathadder does not have such an issue, which makes it flat out superior for extremely high level stuff or for an enthusiast looking for actual performance over marketing hype. You can be decently accurate, hell you can be better than 99% of gamers, but in the end the performance ceilings with deathadder is higher.
I wish it wasnt that way, i kinda really wanted a Sensei and it must be embarassing for steelseries to have their high end lineup trashed by a couple of mice at half the price, but thats the way it is.

is there any data on the [raw] version of the sensei, that's the one I'm using and I am really sensitive to mouse precision like I'll notice a difference if I even lower or raise the dpi by 10. I'm not sure how bad the accel is but I'm pretty sure I'd notice it and I absolutely hate the shape of the deathadder/g5, I liked the diamondback but thats no longer an option and I love the shape/weight of the sensei so it sucks to have it ruined by a bad laser
Im sure there's data out there, but general idea is most steelseries mice are subject to similar effects, i know all versions of the Kinzu and the Xai + Sensei.. and it's also known sensei+xai perform notably worse on cloth than plastic which is why i brought this up in the first place.
Using >1k DPI, it might not be so bad outside of a FPS engine (if you were to use low sens) especially if you dont make super sharp fast movements, but with 800dpi at the upper end of my sens range and using my entire mousepad (45x40cm) for FPS, basically their entire lineup is unusable to me.

Didnt see this, double my sens then in CSGO and a bit less than double in windows/sc2. You should definately use 51-54% or disable sens, not use 50%, 50% can mean either 46 or 54 but you can't tell which step it's on cause sc2 does not display properly, unless it's 51-54% step then you can have multi down or up (0.75x or ~1.5x)

I finally got my second GTX 460 working again after it took a giant shit on me. No SLI. I don't think I can support three monitors off of SLI for whatever reason.
I keep my bar close because I lose a lot. Or maybe I lose a lot because I keep my bar close.

Agreed +1. However, drunk sc2 is never good sc2. Please micro responsibly.
That is amazing baldour. Wish I had that much space to do with my desk. I have a shitty desk from ikea with an imac and an old 2nd monitor with razer peripherals. It's like sticking a v8 in a wooden cart.
