Hey TL, i wanna build a new pc for myself. My goal is to be able to stream 'Guild Wars 2' game with best quality with no delay / lag.
Best system requirements for gw2 i found on google: + Show Spoiler + INTEL CPU Core 2 Quad Q6400 2.13GHz AMD CPU Phenom 9650 Quad-Core
Nvidia GPU GeForce GTS 450 2GB DDR3 AMD GPU Radeon HD 5670 1024MB
RAM 4 GB OS Win 7 64 Direct X DX 10 HDD Space 25 GB
I need help with picking motherboard + cpu + graphics card..
Heres what i come up with by myself atm:
Motherboard: + Show Spoiler +
One of these processors: + Show Spoiler +Intel Core i5 2550K + Show Spoiler +Intel Core i7 2700K + Show Spoiler +Intel Core i7 2600k + Show Spoiler +http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INTEL-Core-I7-Processor-I7-2600k-3-40-Ghz-Lga1155-/310402519964?pt=UK_Computing_CPUs_Processors&hash=item48456e939c#ht_500wt_922
As for the graphics card.. + Show Spoiler +I currently have this one: VTX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 + Show Spoiler +http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/PCI-E/ATI+Radeon+5000+Series+PCI-E/VTX+ATI+Radeon+HD+5770+1024MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=38291 But i cant find another one like this for crossfire connection, and i dont think it could handle gw2 with best graphics by itself..
So yeah, maybe u guys could help me choose witch CPU should i pick, and maybe suggest what graphics card should i buy? (price range 150-250$) Or maybe even better totally different motherboard/cpu/ :D

GPU: well i guess at your price range you would have to go with 560Ti-448 / 570 or HD7850 / 7870 depending on what is on special.
It might be important to note that if you only care about GW2, they are sponsored by Nvidia (I think) and there seems to be less issues with their gpus than AMDs in the beta.
CPU: If you want to stream at the best quality, it might be worth investing in an i7, but not the 2700k as u can just overclock the 2600k. and u dont want the 2550k at all, you can just get 2500k for cheaper.
MOBO: I dont know
edit: I was looking at the website that you are looking at and noticed the 2700k is cheaper than the 2600k, which is wierd, but i just meant that u should go with the cheaper one.

a friend of mine says i should go for 2500k and overclock it and it will be just as good as 2600k
as for the gpu, same friend says i should wait for gtx 660
also thx for replying to me
EDIT: what if i would get a good motherboard+cpu, and leave my old gpu (vtx radepm jd 5770), could i stream gw2 in best quality?

And i think i'm definitely going for an Nvidia GPU.
So there's one question remaining: is the samsung SSD as reliable as the Crucial one?
[Edit: and why better? Did I choose something wrong?] OCZ psu is quality, the one you selected isn't as good as it's labeled to be relativly motherboard is fine.... MSI is a good brand Samsung 830 series is reliable as Crucial M4 Hmmm.... OCZ PSUs quality, MSI good brand? What am i reading here... MSI is the worst motherboard manufacturer of the big four and OCZ ZS by great wall won't exactly kill your computer, but I wouldn't call it quality. Modxstream is terrible though. Also why would he need a 650w PSU? Efficiency is going to be terrible... That site doesn't have many options though. Antec HCG 520 is better but more expensive. The GS500 is just a bit more expensive, if it's the new reharsh then it's a pretty good buy. Source on both of those claims, please? OCZ ZS is Sirtec / Highpower (not Great Wall), while ZT and ZX are Great Wall. I don't think you can consider Antec HCG 520W to be better than either ZS or ZT, definitely not enough to recommend as a replacement when it's more expensive. It's not like HCG 750/900, which are better. GS500 is CWT DSAII, same as Corsair CX V2, so not good (not bad, just not worth the usual price). Other Corsair GS series are CWT PSHII, which are a step up but still generally overpriced. Corsair GS lineup is getting refreshed though, but I wouldn't count on those being what's available in stores. As for MSI, I don't know what kind of evidence we're goign to get. Big four's all had issues. Ups, I confused ZS with ZT. However, judging by this review, I don't see how you could put the ZT lineup over Antec HCG. The ZS reviews seems a bit more favorable though.
Tank you for all of your inputs... I think i'll stick with what i chose so far, since ti doesn't seem to change so much, in term of quality and price. Will maybe be looking for cheaper price than the ones mentioned in the first post

Keep in mind that im no expert.
2500k wont be just as good as 2600k (hyperthreding) but it might be sufficient for what you want to do and also it might be worth saving ~100$.
I didnt know the 660 was even out but i douth it is less than your 250$ upper price range.
You didnt ask about this, but dont forget to buy a cpu cooler no matter which cpu you go with.

Sup TL, if you've got a moment to spare i'd love some feedback on my build before I buy.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9Rey
I'm gonna be overclocking the cpu and gpu, gaming/streaming on a 1680x1050 monitor. The sound card is for my ath m50s, and the extra fan is to improve the thermals on the case.
-Any recommendations on controllers?
-Where should I mount the fan to get the best air flow?
Thanks

I think an you would benefit much more from an i7 if you were streaming. If there is space in the front, it can be mounted there, or can be mounted on top to pull air out of the case.

Hey guys. i'm building a computer for a friend of mine and was just wondering what would the cheapest motherboard to go with these two items of choice. i5 ivy bridge and Sapphire Radeon HD7870 2GB.

Agreed with EdenPLusDucky and @kirbtacular
Your build is good but don't get that OCZ ModXStreamPro. Besides being mediocre in quality, it has annoyingly short cables.
This is a much better choice for that build, and yes it's plenty of power: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/pc-power--cooling-power-supply-ppcmk3s400

An i7 would be nice but unfortunately that's pushing the price out of my budget :s
If i wanted to upgrade gpu later, would I need a new PSU as well?
|
Unless you're saving money to upgrade to a GPU with three 6 pin connectors, a 400w PSU should do fine.
|
Which ssd would you reccomend buying? I think i am gonna need an 120gb one or 240gb max. sata 3
i5 2500k Gts 250 (gonna get gtx 560 ti soon) Z68 4gb ddr3 1333mhz Western digital caviar green 500gb

Thanks for all the help mang

Hey, guys. My friend asked me to help him build a computer and since I have not been doing much reasearch on it latley, I was wondering if anyone would "build" me one in a price range around 700$. It has to include the box of course and a Monitor.

My main question is: is there a video card that can support three monitors on its own (that is, without the need for SLI/Crossfire)? I have nothing against SLI or Crossfire, I'd just like to keep it down to one card if at all possible (just a weird personal preference, I guess). I know some of the newer Nvidia cards can support a two DVI/one HDMI combo with monitors, but are they the only ones? And yes, I will be playing games on this too. i think most newer 68xx, 69xx, 78xx, 79xx radeon cards support 3 monitors by itself (could be more, im not gonna list all of them), only the newer GTX (670?),680,690 support 3 out of the box. You should list a budget so we can accurately list give you advice on a specific card.
Thanks -- I don't really have a budget (of course I'd like to keep costs down, I don't want to spend anything too extravagant... over $350~400ish is probably too much) and of course I'd like the best performance for the value while still keeping the features I want (the ability to run 3 monitors).
I'll take a look at your suggestions though, thanks again. If anyone else has anything else to recommend then please let me know!

hey everyone,
so i've been reading much about computer hardware lately, and I am relatively knowledgeable about types of GPU, RAM, CPUs and coolers, such that when i build a computer in the near future I can pick my own components.
However, I have absolutely no idea what different types of motherboards mean, and I cannot name a difference between a zXX/pXX motherboard. I know some have different ports, but aside from that, what should i look at when i pick a motherboard? I heard that some are better at overclocking than others, can anyone elaborate on that?
Or, point me in the right direction regarding where I should look for the right answer? Wiki is not as helpful as I hope it would be in this aspect.
Thanks in advance!

"Better" for overclocking is usually pretty relative, and frequently doesn't mean much unless one of them truly sucks or you want to go for fairly high OCs, at least with current Intel offerings. Most mobo improvements for OC are quality of life improvements, like a good BIOS, onboard CMOS reset, OC recovery, onboard power/reset switches, and attached speaker/POST LEDs. They're things that make it easier to OC at all.
In most cases, the differences between motherboards for a normal OC are going to be close enough that you should go by warranty and features needed.
Pick for the socket, then just get the chipset that comes with the features you actually plan to use, from a reliable brand. Unless you're planning to go high or extreme OC, at which point a few other things can come into play.
