LGA 1156 processors do indeed have a better TurboBoost! The i5 750 sports a +1/+1/+4/+4 (1 core/2 core/3 core/4 core) multiplier while the i7 920 only supports +1/+1/+1/+2! The i7 860 sports a +1/+1/+4/+5. Which essentially essentially means by turning TurboBoost on, you get i5 750: 2.8ghz/2.8ghz/3.16ghz/3.19ghz i7 860: 2.93ghz/2.93ghz/3.33ghz/3.46ghz i7 920: 2.8ghz/2.8ghz/2.8ghz/2.93ghz i7 930: 2.93ghz/2.93ghz/2.93ghz/3.06ghz most of this is bollocks though, because for a gamer, the real reason to choose between LGA 1366 (X58) and LGA 1156 (P55) is the presence of PCIe 2.0 lanes. The decision really comes down to whether or not you will use dual GPUs or not. If you are going to use two high end GPUs, go for LGA 1366. If not, LGA 1156 will be perfectly fine. PCIe 2.0 X8 vs PCIe 2.0 X16 really isn't noticeable until you get into higher resolutions with AA and high qualities, where data bandwidth becomes an issue. An ATi HD 5770 will never notice the difference between X8 and X16, while an ATi HD 5870 will take a significant (enough) hit from the X8. I think just about every card above the ATi 4850/Nvidia 9800GTX area will take a hit from the PCIe 2.0 X4 though. The PCIe 2.0 X16 @ X4 mode means that the slot itself is a full sized PCIe 2.0 X16 slot, but the bandwidth is equivalent to a PCIe 2.0 X4 slot! It is just a larger PCIe 2.0 X4. PCIe 2.0 X1 slots are just slots for expansion cards. They can be used for low end graphics though. PCIe 2.1 actually doesn't add any bandwidth. I believe it was something else :p MMO Tomb: Thanks!

System: Q9650 overclocked to 3.8ghz GeForce 8600 GT 4gb DDR 2 RAM Operating System Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Getting around 20-30 fps at a zerg base with a few immortals, stalkers, and mutalisks, and 30-40 at protoss base with a bunch of probes and two mutalisks, with the following settings: texture: ultra graphics quality: custom post-processing: medium reflections: off effects: medium shaders: medium lighting: low shadows: medium terrain: medium physics: low models: high unit portraits: 2D movies: high Anyone know what the cheapest graphics card (single, not sli) I'd need to run everything on the highest settings with my system?

Maybe your computer isn't recognizing your hard drive. Have you got all of your drivers up to date?

The common solution was to load drivers from a floppy... if you have one. Otherwise I think you can do it with a CD. Not exactly sure how, but it shouldn't be very different from the floppy method. Or it could be a faulty hard drive.

2ghz 2G Ram GeForce 7600 go I've tried high and low settings and adjusting resolution. This laptop is higher than the "minimum specs" I have read about and is truely unplayable. I was hoping to have SC2 on the go, but that is a no-go.

Just got my Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 today and this thing runs StarCraft 2 like a dream. Everything on ultra, shaders on extreme. At the start of games I'm getting constant 76-77 fps at protoss base. 12 minutes later when the protoss base is full with buildings I get constant 61-62 fps. Just slightly outside my natural at a battle between 8 zealots and 9 hydralisks I'm getting between 70 and 80fps. I get between 60-70 fps on a zerg base during a big P vs Z battle with zealots, sentries, colussus, hydralisks, zerglings, etc. Sweet card. edit: on Steppes of War I get around 50 fps at zerg base full of buildings and units, and 65-70 fps at a protoss base full of buildings, likely because of the weather effects.

Mt.Diabolaka: Your graphics card is either barely at the minimum requirements or below the minimum requirements. The 7600Go 128 bit is on par with the 6600 and the 7600Go 64 bit is below the 6600!

That is AWESOME to hear because as you probably know because of all your generous help i recently got a 5770 and it runs all the games, videos, and other stuff at really awesome wuality.
