Here is a small comparison between SC and SC2 units and abilities. I don't have no point I want to make just get it on virtual paper for people to see and compare and discuss what they like, don't like, should be changed, added or removed.
Terrans in starcraft have the science vessel and medic as casters. Units with abilities are: vulture, battlecruiser, ghost, wraith. I'm not counting stim since its more of an upgrade than an ability.
Protoss have high templar and dark archon as casters Units with abilities are: corsair and arbiter
Zerg have queen and defiler as casters units with abilities are: devourer
You can see that I'm not counting attack types and/or attack speeds; such as splash or multiple attacks, since those are not really abilities in the right sense.
Now Starcraft 2: Terrans have medivac and nighthawk as casters units with abilities: reaper, ghost, marauder, banshee, battlecruiser
Protoss have high templar Units with abilities: zealot, stalker, immortal, nullifier, warp prism, phoenix, mothership
Zerg have overlord/overseer and infestor as casters units with abilities: roach, corruptor, swarm guardian, queen

What's the ability of the immortal? Are you counting the shield?

I'd only consider abilities that are active.
Also, you're comparing SC and SC:BW, to just SC2... we need to keep in mind that Blizzard is planning on releasing new units with both expansions. Really hard to look at the game now, considering that it's going to be 'incomplete' for likely two years after the initial release.

Im a Terran player so I will miss irradiate, seriously I want it back so bad but who knows, maybe I will learn to love Nighthawk as much as i did the Science Vessel. Sorry for any spelling mistakes im sick and don't feel like thinking how to spell .

you should add Dark Templar. they have the ability to auto-cloak

I think you need to define more clearly what you mean by units who have abilities and units who are casters. Why is the medic a caster with heal and flare whereas the arbiter is just a unit with abilities with recall and stasis field?
Nitpicking aside, I'll wait until I play the game before I pass judgment. I mean, there are several spells in BW that are underused because they require too much micro, but SC2 has, among other things, smartcasting, which really puts the spells in the different games in completely different ballparks.

i think by caster he means the unit cannot attack and can only cast spells
