![]() Kelly and Kotick must be laughing their asses off. https://ca.wallmine.com/people/437/brian-g-kelly Kelly is worth several times more... owned a bigger % of ATVI at every step along the way ... and was the chairman of the board. None of these amazing "gaming journalists" ever dug into anything Brian Kelly ever did? I guess they were too busy cooking up conspiracy theories about how Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway were scamming ATVI investors. LOL. What the hell was Kotick yammering on about Pitfall! and River Raid like he was part of it? He prolly made the error intentionally to see if any of the brilliant members of the fifth estate would call him on it. They didn't.

It's still single threaded and can benefit from a multi-thread update. Fixing the balance and taking more control of its esports division like how Riot and Valve takes control of their esports would be nice too. These updates may help attract newcomers to the scene and new professional gamers. Right now, we have little to no new professional gamers while League of Legends and CS:GO/CS2 constantly attracts new talent. Instead of having just one tournament circuit like ESL Pro Tour, it'd be nice to have a league for players who are not as skilled. A tier 2 circuit as they call it. +1

But phew, that would take a decade until it becomes true.

This will very likely never happen. I remember there being a dev post talking about that basically anything that can be parallelized already is done so. It turned out that when you added networking in the mix while making sure that both plays see the exact same thing, you barely have anything to spread across multiple cores due to internal data dependencies. However my memory is a bit murky on this.

Maybe some console-friendly RTS that appeals to a more general audience, but probably not the kind of game hardcore BW and SC2 fans are looking for. What I AM huffing some hopium over is Brood War and StarCraft II getting some table scraps as a side effect of a new StarCraft game. Maybe Blizzard/MS is paranoid from their experience with War3: Reforged, where the hardcore community was at the forefront of leading a larger wave of horrible PR? They may think it's in their interest to curry favor with the hardcore SC community ahead of a new title. Maybe there could be some minor shifting of personnel around Classic Games so there's are more people involved with StarCraft. We're at such a bare minimum support level right now that even ONE more person having BW/SC2 become their semi-responsibility might speed up basic tasks to maintain the game (updating the ladder with maps entirely made and QA'd by the community). I just hope it's not the Microsoft classic move of embrace, extend, and extinguish https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend,_and_extinguish embrace SC2, extend it by giving us patches and sponsoring tournaments and making SC3, then extinguish our scene because it's a consolized Xbox game IMO embrace extend and extinguish hasn't been the MO for Microsoft since Steve Balmer stepped down. Besides the company has grown to big to make any of these super generalized statements.

Like even if they wanted to do Starcraft 3, Team 1 is basically scattered to the winds. It's going to take a long while to get talent. Kotick is role playing. Bryan Kelly was the chairman of the board. Nice acting job by Kotick though and a decent distraction. Reminds me of the illusionists who point to their left hand while their right hand is pulling off the trick. The video game journalist fraternity ain't that smart so it was easy for Bryan Kelly to hide in plain sight.
